  2. lvc 47's are great. besides this thread coming from someone bordering on 'obese' anyways and isn't gonna look good in them. if you like 55's so much why dont you just wear those and stop pissing in the wind. besides the fact that you can't tell anything from that ebay photo about how they fit on a person, you don't know exactly what year they were produced and there isn't any indication they were made in 1947 for comparison. further more considering you've clearly never seen a pair of old levi's you should shut up about this issue. and as a counter point to your whole thesis on old levis' being baggy and 47's not being authentic, why dont you direct your attention a bit to historical levi's advertising to see how tight the buckleback's are on those cowboys. maybe you like them looser cuts and 55's so much because they fit you the way 47's are supposed to fit on other people and you just fill them out more. i.e. regular jeans are too small on you and loose fits fit you regular.

  3. I can help you here, the 70506 i.e. the one with handwarmers, is cut longer than any levi's jacket ever before or since. 70505's are cut about 1-2 inches shorter than those and then original type 3 557's etc. are cut about an inch shorter than that even. My advise is to stick with the 70506 because it will have the same length as a 70505 that is 2 sizes up, and by that I don't mean the difference between a 40 and a 42, I mean the difference between a 40 and a 44.

  4. Here's an H&M hoodie size M, Navy blue. Great quality and fit. Only worn a couple of times so it's pretty much new, just not my size. Chest 20'', 17.5'' Shoulders, 25'' Sleeves. Asking $35+ shipping. PM me if you're interested, paypal preferred.

  5. No, low rise came into style in the late 1960s. I had a pair several pairs of those orange tag 646s on the early 70s. Low rise bell bottoms and thought they would NEVER come back in style. They'll be out of style again in a few years. One thing that has remained constant is the classic 501 though it has change a little with the trends though I doubt the 47s were as trim as LVC makes in their repros.

Considering the photos you post of your pants and yourself and that you have an XL waist and wear the baggiest LVC repro's, I think there needs to be some room for opinions besides yours on real post war 501's 'not being as trim as repro's'. They arent that trim if you are a reasonable weight and original levi's were definetly very slim to the point that the repros do not seem to be as fitted as originals. America got fatter and sometimes levi's did not.

  6. Are you sure about that? Seems to again add to the confusion, as others have suggested that they (not specifically 66 Black's) shrink from the tag size. If they do shrink from the tag size are we talking about exactly a levi's shrink to fit schema?

  7. I need a definitive answer on this, do the Denime 66 Black No Wash shrink to tag size or from the tag size, there have been other posts but the answers have tended to be wishy-washy. Anyone own these and can give me some clarification?

  8. I really dont think that jacket is a woolrich or pendleton, I think that's assuming a lot. That being said I have seen very similar ones by pendleton, however nothing that is really that similar to this design. I don't even know if these jackets are considered hunting jackets just cause they are wool checked, I've heard the term boxcar jacket in this context. Furthermore the jacket does not have a conmar zipper.

  9. hey im curious when some 505's might have been made that i picked up deadstock from a store. They have this written on the garment wash label

    "260 D 20

    505 0217

    11 20 650

    86298 5"

cant tell if the bartacks are black or really dark navy, they're single stitch with pocket linings of a similar quality to my lvcs, the pockets themselves are the narrower longer type, the denim definetly seems ring ring, small e, all copper threading, they have 650 on the button stamp and no selvage, thoughts?

  10. i dont know whether my post was deleted or what, but since its title only appears and not the thread, ill just post my inquiry here. when i shrink to fitted my lvc 47's (hot-warm water 20 mins then wore them to dry) it appears that only the length shrunk and the waist and hips did not shrink , in fact they have stretched out. Just wondering if in order for shrinking to occur in the hips and waist if i have to dry em in a dryer? thanks.

  11. which edition of the wrangler 27mw did mcqueen wear? his shirt was fitted with dot snappers and the reproduction 27mw's ive seen come with copper? snappers, so presumably they're not the same shirt, can you elaborate?

  12. If anyone is looking for the levi's K1's in 32x32 I stumbled upon some auctions that likely would have gone unseen...

If you benefit from this please drop me a line and help me track down some LVC 1947's deadstocks in size 30x32 or any retailers with old LVC Stock????

    Thanks.

  13. Thank you to everyone who posted. I think the jeans look great for the price myself and like nicer denim than the regular Lee Europe 101Z's (although I haven't seen either in person just the photos). I realize these aren't vintage repro style, but I like that they are double selvage and the quality seems first hand anyhow. I suspect that these are Sanforized, but then I might just be under the impression that all 101Z's are? Also are Lee like levi's in that they tack on an extra 1'' past the marked ticket size thereby making a 34'' inseam actually measure 35'' before washing to accomodate shrinkage? Also are these cut with a rise/crotch/knee proportional to the inseam? Please see my other post here (http://www.superfuture.com/city/supertalk/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=3737) THANKS!

  14. Does anyone know if Jeans such as the 1947 Levi's are cut proportional to their inseam length thereby waist sizing of 30 with a 34 '' inseam having a longer crotch and lower knee than a size 30 x 32 ? All things being equal, I would ideally get 30x32 as it would be my correct size after shrinkage but I would get 30x34 if they are the exact same with just a little extra length added to the leg in which case I would rollup the excess. However I don't want to get a pair and then realize that the crotch is too long and the knee is too low on the 30x34 and end up with a pair of ill fitting parachute pant looking pair of levis repros, with that horrible puff because your knee is actually located somewhere other than where it should be in the thigh area.

Please let me know how Levi's works their inseam and if this is common for some other companies like Lee for example or a company like APC where there is only the 1 inseam length (I'm assuming with APC a jean like the standards aren't just cut for a tall person 36'' inseam and then everyone else gets to have their knee in the mid thigh?)....Keep in my I don't like any bag up at the bottom of my pants, just enough to rest slightly over my shoes so the back of the leg of the pant ends where my shoe begins without showing my socks.) Thanks to any contributers.
