  1. '06 was kind of slow for good albums, but '07 is definitely stepping it up.

here's my list through month 8 of '07, in no particular order:

    1. JUSTICE - cross

    2. MIA - kala

    3. LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - sound of silver

    4. OH NO - dr. no's oxperiment

    5. PANDA BER - person pitch

  2. Now back on topic. Are tanner wallets thick, thin, or normal?

to give everyone a frame a reference, our belts are rather thick [9/10 oz]....by comparison, we use a medium weight hide for the wallets [5/6 oz], and keep the overall profile somewhat thin by trimming away excess layers that would be necessary for more pockets.

I can understand the argument some make about lack of pockets, but we're from the 'less is more' camp, and designed our bifold and cardholders to be clean and minimalist....the less crap you can stuff into your wallet, the thinner and more comfortable it will be [and we can still use a nicely weighted hide.]

  3. i usually don't reply to posts like this, but this one was too good to pass up. If you're not feeling the design or "don't get it," that's fine...I think we'll do just fine without your support....but some of the shit you drop in your response is flat out ignorant and stupid sounding.

player hatin'? nigga? old jew? using zzzzz's at the end of every word?

if you have constructive criticism by all means speak up, but if your gonna spew this shit out of your mouth go somewhere else.

u r just player hatin' bcuz i exposed you as someone who iz incapable of thinking too hard in a thread you and i both remember a while back. 2 dis day u still donot know if u got duped or not bcuz of urr stubborn pride.

$50-$80 for wallets that look like they were made by young boys for an Indian Guides project? nigga plz, you must all be the son's of Sony executives. i feel that it's my duty to complain, more than an old jew, on this forum to keep you young hypebeasty kids in check and shatter the all-too-prevalent Superfuture groupthink.

yes, poly800rock, the wallets are "whack". like i said, they're overpriced, the designs are trite, they look like an elementary Indian Guides leather project, and with only 2 card-holder slots, they're not too functional. while everyone here is riding Tanner's jock, i'm trying to help you kids by bringing to your attention that you can buy far superior wallets for $50-$80!

my mistake is forgetting that i’m on superfuture. this crowd is nothing but rich teenagers out of hong kong who buy $150 Vivism t-shirts in North America. w/e, it’s only daddy’s money, and i guess you're supporting the economy.

  4. How many cards can each of the card pockets in the bifold wallet hold?

I have 3-4 cards [plastic] on each side. As the leather breaks in, you can fit more...I have a friend that somehow turned his into a Castanza wallet even though these are designed to be the anti-Castanza version.

  5. As always, we wanted to give all superfuture patrons the first heads up about our latest products. We've just added the first two graphics in our series of laser etched wallets entitled "Urban Textures." Both are available in the cardholder and bifold style wallet, in black, brown, and natural.

The first is a depiction of a well-worn telephone pole.

The second is a pane of industrial safety glass shattered by a stray bullet.

  6. hey, sorry about the delayed response...

anyways, we use nickel plated brass because over time it's much more resistant to rust.

Hey Siznam, I might be overlooking something, but i think you still havent said what metal the buckle is made of.....yes, its nickel plated...but nickel plated what??...steel?...brass?...bronze?...copper?...chrome?.....I need to know these things as itll affect the long term appearance after the buckle starts to wear/age...thanks!
  7. If anyone is interested...

When I inquired about keeping a belt raw to let it to "break in" to the (well-informed) guy from Leather Goods Connection, this is what he replied:

"I know what the buzz is and for the most part is uninformed and even stupid. Hand stained and finished leather will change with use and become unique to each individual and have a nice broken in leathery look. Without some sealer or wax on it it will absorb all sorts of things, dye, dirt, oil, food, etc. Unstained and unfinished will change also and have a nice, dirty, ugly, pulled from a dumpster look. If leather isn't tanned it isn't leather, it's just a skin that will rot and attract flies. Pass that information on to your friends at style forum, superfuture or nudies."

okay, so i've been meaning to post something similar to what this guy said so help clear up leather terminology...here's a few things i can add....

The biggest misconception about leather is what "tanned" really means. like the dude said, if it isn't tanned it isn't leather. With belts, what people most commonly refer to as "untanned" is really just "unstained". All leather used for belts, bags, etc. is tanned.

I've recieved a lot of questions about the natural, raw-looking belts we make....these are in fact tanned, but we don't apply any dyes to them so that they retain that natural look. We do, however, apply a wax to both sides and all edges of the belt, enabling it to age with time and wear, but not pick up a lot of indigo and grease and grime. The result over time is a natural colored belt that will darken and turn a more "golden" color in areas of heavy distressing.

Now, there are two sides to the belt - the unfinished inside and the finished outside. After the wax is applied, we polish the edges and inside to smooth the rough texture a bit, and give the belt a better 'hand' to it. The great thing about the wax is that you can still use leather dye and treat the belt if you wish - there's countless colors to choose from if a natural look is not what you're after. I personally prefer the natural color because the variation over time is more pronounced.

hope this helps to clarify some....

  8. the belts and wallets ordered have been constructed and almost ready to ship...our order of hardware was delayed a few days, and should arrive wedneday - so all items should get shipped out via priority mail late wednesday/early thursday. sorry about the slight delay to everyone that ordered product!

anyone with q's can hit me up at [email protected]

yeah was wondering if they would be arriving soon? i got the wallet and belt. also i ordered a bag from your site.
  9. sorry man, wasn't trying to avoid the question... you're right, the hardware nickel plated.

The hardware isn't chrome - there's a big difference between that and nickel plated. Chrome finish is a cheap [construction and price point] way to imitate a nickel plated finish. It chips relatively easy, and looks like shit after a month or two.

The reason we choose to use nickel plated over solid nickel is two reasons:

    1. the difference in durability and appearance is nil. we use the same hardare that's used for rugged, commercial saddles and military bags. we've wear tested these same buckles on our messenger bags for over a year with no sign of degredation in appearance or function.

    2. all of our products are sourced and produced in limited numbers by hand here in N. America. one of our main goals has always been to offer unique, functionally sound and utilitarian products at an affordable price. at this price we couldn't construct a belt with a solid nickel buckle, nor could we source them. but if someone wants to switch out the buckle for something else, all they have to do is unsnap the belt and throw something else in there.

    hope that helps to clarify!

yes so uhh - you avoided that question quite well ...

    why chrome ? ew

  10. hey all you BC canucks!

a group of us [probably 8 or so] are rolling up to Vancouver for new years, and wanted to grab some recommendations about the best places to stay [affordability, closeness to bars]...also, what bars to hit up the night of, and how to weasel out of paying a fuckload in cover charges...

any hookups, advice, and what-not will be handsomely rewarded with drinks on us.

  11. I know it seems retarded - that's just the standard additional rate we charge for anything shipped internationally on our website, cause figuring different shipping rates for all continents was a major headache....

but yeah, since we're just doin this thing for superfuture people, go ahead and give me your shipping address and we'll cut a couple bucks off for n.american customers...

anyone interested in ordering a belt or bifold can email me at [email protected] with your name, address, and style/size...we'll invoice ya through paypal...

Aw man, $5 more to Canada, but also $5 more to Belgium? Shipping price to Canada is probably no different than to USA (or very very minimal for a belt)..

Also, are you taking orders and shipping now? How do I go about paying

  12. hahaha...no kidding...that shit makes oregon liscences look like a shitty high school student body ID that gets the next grade sticker slapped on it each year....

    uhhh....

edit: nice ghetto address sticker on the license ;) why they don't just give you a new one is still beyond me...

  13. hey, no offense taken...thanks for the feedback....

i completely understand the japanese repro comparison - but at the heart of what we design is simplicity and utility....the hardware we use for the belt is the same as the bags - industrial, sturdy, basic. i guess the main difference is that we try to offer well-designed basics that are each produced by hand with a lot of attention to detail....unlike a lot of overpriced repro stuff out there...

with that said, we have lots of variations that are in the works for each product....but we wanted to come out with some solid basics before we went crazy.

  14. we have two new products that haven't been released publicly yet, but we wanted to share 'em with all you supershoppers...

first up is our 'standard' belt. constructed of bridle-grade leather, each belt is hand-burnished on the edges and raw underside. a heavy-weight industrial buckle and retainer is fastened to each belt with 2 segma snaps, allowing you to switch out the buckle as desired.

as with all TANNER products, our focus remains to produce products that the age beautifully over time through extended wear. because of this, we are only offering the belt in UNTANNED RAW as pictured.

    kicx3165cu0.jpg

    kicx3172vh8.jpg

Our second new product is our 'bifold' wallet. much like our cardholder, it is basic and utilitarian; featuring two interior pockets for your cards, and one long money pocket...it's basically two cardholder wallets combined into a bifold. as with all of our other wallets, items are produced from single hides of leather meaning only a handful are constructed in each unique color/texture.

    kicx3176vk7.jpg

    kicx3175my5.jpg

im not sure when these will be released to the public - we're just now starting production for our wholesale accounts...if anyone is interested though, PM me.
