  1. again, it's all very well pushing ideas etc, but you'd really need to focus on the logistics of it all.

personally, if I was chief editor for this mag, i'd forget basing the emphasis of the magazine on the illiterate crap that gets posted on these forums boards for a start, cause nobody in their right mind is going to pay to read that, even more so when the fact they can log on and read it for free???!!!

I'd probably have an editorial on the top 10 posts compiled, or run an in depth feature into the top post (voted for by the users of the site or something). That would be as far as it went regarding the forum boards for the reasons above.

fundamentally, this site is soley based upon the superfuture index!!! While the minority of us post away on these boards, we seem to be forgetting that the intentions of this site, is to provide detailed reviews, on locations with co-ordinated maps on how to get there, for people who wish to travel. The majority of the traffic frequenting this site, utilise that vast index!

personally, I feel that is a far more unique selling point, than the discussions of BAPE fanatics on the forum boards. It's also a far better representation of what superfuture is actually all about!

all you guys seem to be hell bent on, is puting together a mag, that has loads of pictures, of clothing, you all like to talk about. Any mug can do that, infact i'm sure there are magazines out there who already have that kind of content.

There is various types of people who visit superfuture, regarding avant-garde stores, restaurants/cafes, hotels & so on, just because the majority (if not 100%) of the topics on these forum boards are about street/urban influenced clothing, doesn't mean that the magazine should reflect that.

all you guys seem to be interested in, is creating a street/urban influenced lifestyle magazine, off the back of superfutures name, when infact the essence of superfuture, isn't just about that!

If this magazine was edited in the correct fashion, it would reach a far larger audience, & generate a far greater income & staying power, than if it was done in the direction you guys seemingly want to see it go in.

  2. i'm seriously sceptical guys, I just can't see it being a long term fixture & that's forgetting who would bankroll the operation?

If a print based publication was to be successful from superfuture, it would HAVE to be centred around the superfuture index, regarding reviews on stores etc...and in depth! and then that information would have to be removed from the site, or not added, otherwise people would just frequent the site instead of buying the issue.

that's my opinion anyway, as that is essentially what superfuture is all about & why the majority of the traffic this site attains come here.

I just think with the explosion of fashion sites & fashion blogs/forums & now with myspace trying to generate a fashion aspect to their site to go along with the music, there is too much competition already out there for the print based media to take on!

what you would maybe find is that the first couple of issues would fly off the shelves, however once people who weren't originally aware of the site, became aware of the site, sales would begin to gradually decline.

  3. I hate to burst the bubble, but why would anyone fork out for a print based publication you have to wait a month for at a time, when you can create an account & join in online and express your own individual opinion?

Superfuture is an interactive e-zine by itself, why undermine it with a print based publication?

I've stopped my subscription to nylon, I-D & flux recently, as I realised, I already knew everything that was being printed before the editors even knew what they were putting in that issue. Why? because of the internet...

it's places like superfuture, that are the instrumental reason behind the demise of print based media & places like superfuture that are now contributing to the significant loss in sales that has hit printed magazines.

Retailers are reducing the number of fashion mags they carry, previous to say 6 years ago. They are being far more critical in which magazines they select for their shelves. So i'm not so condifent they'd be so fast to pick up a publication that is freely available on the net?

The only thing I would suggest & probably be happy to market, would be a limited addition seasonal feature mag, that was sold exclusively in select boutiques around the globe. Which also included an extended coverage of the reviews section, on stores, restaurants & so on under the superfuture index.

I don't know if that's what you guys would be happy with, but I just can't see there being enough material on these boards to finalise a monthly publication.

  4. i think you're the one buying into the "lifestyle brand" more than anyone else. afterall, it has to be a good quality garment if its LIMITED right?

i'm not entirely sure what you mean? :S

anyway, regarding the logistics of overseas orders, it's called a distributional contract with a courier firm or agency. I would have thought that would have applied already with you guys, considering you are carried in the UK? at Selfridges & also a store called Diverse in Islington, London. no? Did they pay shipping fees from the states to the UK on every unit receieved? crazy! If they did, they probably added it to the retail price, so i'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, sorry.

  5. "then praise and point out a company that I'll never see "all over the rails". Uhm. What does that mean anyhow?"

It means they hold a large number of accounts throughout the globe, however the volume to which you find in each of those stores isn't as large as say, Fake London for example. Meaning it's a rare occasion when you find it in the sale & there is always a high demand for what is essentially a good quality product. They also limit which pieces you find in certain stores, based on a tier system.

so yeah, that's what it means.

  6. Life's a Marketing Ploy, didn't you know? Heh.

I'd personally be glad if we ever managed to saturate the market; however, I don't think something like that will ever come to pass. But eh, who knows, right? Our company philosophy isn't such that we want to be the next GAP or American Eagle.

Down the line, brands will come that supercede other brands, but this comes to pass because there are different groups of people who have ideas and aspirations that are more relevant to the moment. It's not that there's a mothership of conspirators who are trying to manipulate the public to buy whatever's regurgitated.

You have to remember that ultimately it's you, the consumer, who makes the brand what it is.

i'm not implying W&H have asspirations to become a highstreet global player like diesel...

what am saying is, is the fact that this line has now become yet another Evisu or Fake London Genius, or is becoming another line of that ilk.

& the fact you're coming out & suggesting you'd be glad to saturate the market? do you think that's what your current consumer wants?

If you had come out & said the complete opposite, you may have been on the right track, but the fact you guys are hell bent on a smash & grab, i.e. where you get in, get your moneys worth over 4/5 seasons & get back out...suggests that this brand will follow like many of its predacessors & end up on the scrap heap...(with the owners no doubt walking off elsewhere to start another line & do the exact same)

it's a tireless cycle in the lifestyle sector, why people can't just market their line in an effective mannor in the first situation is beyond me..

joe griffin has it down to a tee at Griffin, take a leaf from his book...

his design team produces some incredible collections, you never see it all over the rails at stores & they must be entering their 5/6th year now..

  7. I'll no doubt get slaughtered for saying this, but what is the fascination with what is essentially, just yet another lifestyle brand...?

these labels come along every once in a while & everyone wants in on the act. Right now you guys will say, hey, it's exclusive stuff, hard to get hold of...

it's a marketing ploy, 2/3 seasons down the line this stuff will be saturating the market & selling by the truck load. Eventually people will become bored & by that time there will be another player entering the equation, offering a product slightly more appealing (or so it seems).

  8. ok...i guess people are more interested in mass produed brands that completely rip you off like Nudie, Edwin & acne slim fits...rather than real, original fashion...if anyone has seen skinny cut jeans, in a rocker esq style...made with japanese denim...please feel free to come forward...

    Time spent wishing...is time wasted
