  1. The all black? I think I have the same one. Funny you should mention the buttons, because I had to reinforce them too. Small fits perfectly on me 5'11" 145lbs. Didn't get mine on sale though :(

I just got that APC parka in XS - definitely fits very big - but I'm wondering if I should have gone with a Small. Can you tell me the chest measurement on that? Anyone else have a Small? Wanna trade for an XS?

  2. It's not enough of an issue where I would return or resell the item. But I was expecting the garment to be made in the USA due to the pictures of the tag posted on the website I purchased it from, the word 'Fabric' was nicely covered up.

Does it say anywhere on the garment or the tags the name of the specific mill or brand/manufacturer of the 60/40 fabric?

  3. Just out of curiosity, what size of backpacks you guys usually use in "normal life" situations?

Probably like 18-22L? And now that you mention it, the Mariposa is probably much too big for what I'm after (2040 cu. in. = 33L). The Lupine is probably a better size for daily/commuting use, closer to the Altadena packs. Too bad you can't get the Cordura bottom on it.

  4. Tempting. What are others' experiences ordering from Rivendell?

Might need extra rugged shoulder straps for my Metro commute. (8)

Yeah, I haven't had any luck finding a vintage daypack - and the Altadena packs seem like they are almost too stiff, like the material doesn't lay when you're wearing it. I think the Mariposa in pack cloth would be perfect for the city. Too bad he can't put a leather bottom on it.

I remember gnar mentioned some issues

i wondered if they were good for hiking or just looked good

Sick boots. Totally bombproof. I got my sizing issues straightened out and I'm stoked on them. Buy your true size, don't expect them to stretch. They'll break in your feet before you break them in. If they ain't comfortable out of the box they don't fit.

  7. nah, wasn't that. waterproofing failed. in the tongue. she got pwned.

Wait, can we run some fact checking on this real quick?

How did she get frostbite from failed waterproofing? If it's frostbite temps were below 32F (probably well below), and if it's below 32F it's not waterproofing that you need cause there's no water.

Merrell Wilderness boots are 1000% legit. Those things are OG as all get out, regardless of what a crap company Merrell is otherwise. Not to mention, they are all leather and require no waterproofing.

Not that any of this really matters. Just want to put it out there. Those Orvis joints are dope, I would consider if I didn't have something else lined up.

I'll entertain some offers and trades, but prices are pretty firm.

    Thanks, PM with questions.

  9. two things - i've had trouble breaking them in, and i've never done a trip with them, so i don't want to be stranded with them just in case. also, they're the japanese mountain light, and i don't want to completely fuck them up, because i wear them when not hiking too.

Can you, or anyone else, give me specific info on how the sizing runs on the Japanese Danners? Particularly the DJ Mountain Light.

  10. -1-2.jpg

Bad iPhone pic of my Diemme 'New Tirol'. Very comfortable and solid. Amazing construction. Looking forward to wearing them. Probably not going to happen until it cools down a bit.

I'm battling with these boots right now. Afraid that the fit just isn't for me. I made the mistake of assuming that they'd break-in to fit, but I'm not sure it's going to work out. If anyone is interested, they'd fit a US8.5-9 best, they're brand new, I would probably let them for for $200. You can PM me.
