Hi thelion1856, can I just confirm which Sugar Cane Hawaii''s you've got, as their are 2 different varieties. Are they these ones....
Or these ones....
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/hinoya/sc40400n/
Right now I'm definitely liking those Warehouse 10th anniversary jeans, which I see BIG have got in a 38, but if Self Edge do have the natural indigo Hawaii's then that may change things.

Thanks for the replies all.
Dick Danger - can you tell me how the Warehouse 1000xx jeans fit?
And it's definitely good to hear that the Edo-Ai's are actually natural indigo as I love the look of those jeans. Again though I've seen some threads that describe them as quite baggy, is that the case or are people just comparing them to slim jeans?

Hi all,
Having got excited about the idea of getting a pair of PBJ AI-001's my hopes then got dashed when I found out that they are not available in a size 38 waist. Now though I do still want to get a pair of jeans dyed using natural indigo, but don't know where to turn.
I've looked at the Sugar Cane Hawaii's, but it seems they don't come in a 38 either. I've obviously looked at the 45rpm Jomon's, but as I'm looking more for a 1955 style Levi's i.e. not slim but not baggy either, it would seem they are probably not the best choice. The other one I've looked at are the Sugar Cane Edo-Ai's, but I'm not sure how they fit, and I believe that natural indigo is only a small percentage of the dye used. So I'm a little stuck.
Therefore, can anyone recommend a pair of jeans, with a regular fit, that are available in a size 38" waist and are dyed using natural indigo?
Thanks in advance.

Well before 'dissing' other peoples posts maybe you should head down to your local outdoors store and look at a few jackets i.e. Arc'Teryx for instance and then come back and say you can't get as good a functioning and looking jacket as an Acronym for a fraction of the price. If you've had a good look at the equivalent Gore-Tex jackets out there and you still believe Acronym are worth more than twice the price then that's fair enough.

Here Here!!Quote:I think it's funny how everyone really likes Acronym and they all say it is because of it's techincal specs, but seriously I think most people like them because of the hype. There are so many decent looking warmer, much cheaper jackets out there. Once a store like Nomad in toronto picks a brand up it turns to gold in the streetwear scene regarless of what it is.

If these jackets were on sale in your average outdoor store would anyone be paying any attention to them at all? I very much doubt it. There are much better jackets out there for half the price - I mean they are charging nearly $600 for a f**king Gore-Tex Paclite jacket for crying out loud! No amount of zips and pockets can justify that.

Green Irish Tweed by Creed - an absolute classic that was apparently originally designed for Cary Grant.
X by Clive Christian - stupidly expensive, and quite unusual, but very sumptuous.
I also really like Burnt Sugar and Spicy Cocoa from the Comme Des Garcons Series 7 'Sweet' collection. They are very off the wall, and certainly not 'classic' but they can be a bit of fun to wear occasionally.

So are you going to get some wild_whiskey?Quote:I found Lion Acron. They have it at Mitsuwa in the "best appliances" section. $5.50. It's in a pink bottle.

You could try Hideout here in London....

But they are seriously pricey and I don't know if they ship to the US.

So it seems that the type of detergent used does have a big impact on the look of the jeans, which I suspect is partly why those eternals still seem to be so dark. Of course we still don't know what temperature the jeans were washed at.
With regards to the belt seen in those images, I'm pretty sure it's also Red Moon....

He's just changed the buckle.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what it is, I just know it's the updated version of what's been on here before.

So all the talk of using non-detergent soap powder, adding salt and vinegar to the wash (Studio D'Artisan), washing at 40 degrees as opposed to 60 degrees (Nudie) is all nonsense and makes no difference?
The truth is that I don't know the answer, and part of me hopes your right Wild_Whiskey, and that my Warehouse jeans will be similar to the Eternals.

Someone posted a snap-shot of the Japanese denim charts some time ago, but I've just stumbled across the actual site it came from. It's currently very different to the one seen here, and it'll be interesting to see if it's frequently updated.
Anyway, here it is.....

The only way we're going to find out for sure is if someone can contact the guy that created those original 811's, and I don't even know if that's possible.
It would at least be useful to find out the temperature he washed them at and which detergent he used.

WOW! That's fantastic work djrajio - thanks very much.
So it seems he's not giving a great deal away, I guess he doesn't really there's these sad people half way around the world admiring his jeans so much!
So is the devil in the details or is it just that Eternal jeans age so much better than the ones were used too?
djrajio - Can you tell if he has given an email address anywhere on that site? If so, perhaps you or one of the other Japanese speakers out there could contact him and find out more specific details.

Absolutely! It would be great to know exactly how often he washed and how he actually washed them i.e. were they hand or machine washed, what type of detergent (if any), what water temperature, was there anything else added to the mix (salt, vinegar etc.)
Come on all you Japanese speakers out there, tell us exactly what he's written on that page.

It's obviously been mentioned on here many times before, and it seems to involve washing your jeans roughly once a month with some kind of 'special denim detergent', but having looked through the archives I couldn't find out all the details of exactly how the look of these.....
http://denim-gallery.heavy.jp/eternal_811-6.html
..... was achieved.
Therefore, can the denim experts out there, or maybe the Japanese speakers, give the full and definitive details of 'The Eternal Recipe'? I really want to know because I'm going to try it with my Warehouse 1001xx's.
Thanks!

Cool! That's all I wanted to know.

I've seen it mentioned a few times on here before, but I'm not quite sure how you're supposed to do it.
I've got a pair of Nudie RR's that I've been wearing for the last 6 months, and intend to keep wearing until Christmas, but of course they are pretty soft now, therefore I have bought some spray starch but I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Do I just spray it straight onto the jeans, or am I supposed to gently wet them first or what? It's a little confusing as the instructions on the can itself only mention applying it before ironing

There was a thread on the FUK forums about this, and someone actually went to an Edwin stockist and compared their Ebay bought ones directly with the ones in the store and could tell no difference at all.Quote:No cheap mondays arent selvedge. Btw, I heard that the £45 Edwins on ebay were fakes, confirm?
--- Original message by horriblyjollyjinx on Sep 6, 2005 03:27 AM
I've got a pair myself and I obviously can't say categorically that they aren't fakes, but if they are then you would be VERY hard pressed to spot the differences.

How about some Oakley Assault boots....

Supposedly used by American Special Forces.
They're a bit pricey, but damn are they good!

The next best bargain in selvedge jeans, after Uniqlo, I would say are the Edwin's available on Ebay for £45 ($83 approx). They are a well known, well established denim brand from Japan, and the jeans are excellent quality and fit. Here's the link to the guys Ebay shop.....

Denim recommendation
in superdenim
Posted
Hi all,
I haven't posted here for a long time, mainly as I've just been enjoying my jeans. However, it's now time to get a new pair, so was hoping for some recommendations.
I'm looking for something with a similar fit to the Oni Blue's (which are the best fitting jeans I've ever had), but I'd actually like something that isn't slubby this time. Obviously I'm looking for top quality denim, that will fade wear, so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
