sorry, yes, my post was unclear. Only early Euro reissues are sanforized. All Edwin-made reissues, where the originals were sanforized, ARE sanforized.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I figured I'd probably misread your original post, but wasn't sure.

Quick thoughts: Japanese reissues will have Japanese tags, Euro reissues have country of origin tags, too. Only the early Euro reissues are sanforized (alho they do shrink btw) and have the back pocket linings. Then there's all the normal clues, just how the denim looks and has aged; old lees, pre 60s, often have a greeny colour cast which reisses don't have. It's hard to replicate the look of old jeans which have never been washed in modern detergents.

I think yours look authentic, in that the reissues with the old-style tags had the -double- selvage. Do they have the pocket linings etc? All the same, I;m not certain, becuase the 1940s Lees I've seen actually had double selvage - the single selvage seems to come in early 50s, while the selvage is gone by 1958 (my estimate from looking at Lee ad archive shots). TO confuse matters, old Lees, from the ones I've seen (only maybe 20 pre-60s pairs in the flesh) do seem to vary in detail a lot - particularly the denim, maybe they vary more accroding to how they're washed.

I don't know about vintage prices, but I'm told they'll be in the same ballpark as Levi's equivalents of similar vintage...

My pair are Japanese reissues with 'Lee Cowboy Sanforized' tags.

ot: i see you found the polo at last. Where did you get it, if I might ask?

Item I wear most at the moment are my faded 45rpms black/blue

Shop called Relief. Tucked behind the Gran Cafe on Limmatquai.
  4. What is the one item that is really working for you at the moment? It can be anything from your newest t-shirt to your 5-year-old pair of boots to your trusty pocket knife. That one thing that whenever you put it on/use it/look at it, it feels absolutely perfect.

For me, it's the Fred Perry Comme Des Garcons polo that I picked up at the weekend. Great colours, perfect fit - a complete quality package.

Yo that's just what I heard. This is the same dude who told me the entire Aesthetics team was now on Zoo York, like 3 months before it was ever in any magazine. I told him he was full of shit... He knows whats up, so I guess wait and see. It might not even be for 6 months or so. But think about it. How many dorky skate kids do you see wearing dunks they ordered from active? It's not that unbelievable.

I don't doubt that there will be a line of Nike 'action sports' footwear available from PacSun soon, I just don't think it'll be the Nike SB line. From what I've been told, there's a similar deal in the UK. Our PacSun equivalents have been kicking up a fuss about not being able to stock Nike SB. Hence the 6.0 line.

No, but I do have a fat arse. In all seriousness, this is a fashion forum - it's not as if I'm the first person on here to find fault with certain pieces of clothing because of the way I look in them.

  7. I have a pair of the repros as my current project jeans. Really lovely, but the size and positioning of the back pockets makes your arse look huge. They've given me a bit of a complex icon_smile_sad.gif

  8. That's fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. At least you have solid reasons for not liking them, rather than the usual "shit is lame".

Good call on RM Williams. Definitely a very good looking boot. I'd buy a pair myself, but I can't envisage myself in a situation where I'd ever need such a hard wearing boot. What do you get up to in them?!

  9. Fenchurch is a UK label. Another take on the old skatewear for people who don't skate deal.

I have no experience with the denim though, sorry.

  10. Witts - I'm surprised you have a problem wearing Wallabees due to their image in the UK. You struck me as the sort of person to stick by a quality product, regardless of their image. You stand strong with Evisu.

If you're going to be on your feet for hours on end doing retail and can't wear trainers, a crepe sole is what you're going to need. It certainly helps where I work (although I'm allowed to wear pretty much whatever I want).

If you really can't handle wearing Wallabees, get some Red Wings. Similar overall concept, but in boot form.

  11. You might also want to consider acting as agent/go-between for shops in Europe/North America and Japanese labels, working on a comission basis. It is often very hard for the shops to secure any stock from JP labels unless they have personal contact (eg. Gimme5 group and Hiroshi Fujiwara/Nigo), speak Japanese or have a representative in Japan. You provide contact between the two parties, translation services etc. and then take a percentage of the value of the wholesale order.
