  1. Look what I got in my local Goodwill today! I went to go pick up a piece of vintage stereo equipment off Craigslist and stopped by Goodwill on the way home! These are mid 50's Lee 101B will full, not half selvage. They look to be in one wash condition. 36W 29L.

  2. I went to the Evisu shop in Naka-Meguro last month and was excited to see that they still make craft goods. They even have a vintage narrrow loom in the front of the store signed by Yamane. I was a big Evisu fan (~2001-2002) and still have a lot of stuff (that I don't wear anymore). The next week I was in LA and saw the overpriced logo heavy shit that Evisu EU makes and really felt sorry for the brand. I associate Evisu with people who don't have any idea about quality clothing. They just want to wear a big expensive brand name. I do love the quality of past Evisu stuff, but the Evisu clothing that arrives in the US these days is shit, and the people that wear it are douche bags. I guess My great batik evisu shirts will live forever in a drawer!

And the jeans in my signature are old italian Evisu made with Kurabo. OOOOOH the humanity!

  3. I have been wearing my Classics everyday at work since October and they are looking quite good. I think that the denim quality is more than a class above APC. If you look in the worn jeans section there is a pair that look great! They have ecru weft and WAY more dips than APC. But I think for $260 they should have better quality rivets ( I have seen some with nice rivets) and belt loop bartacks that are more like pre 1975 Levis. The selvage in the fly is a nice touch but totally unnecessary. I did have a 1-off pair of distressed LVC 1937 201XX that had selvage in the fly once though.

  4. Mine are a bit too big (meaning not snug like I like them) and I wear them with a belt so they don't stretch. They are very compact denim, so I doubt they will stretch very much.

  5. My mesa's have little notes in them that say something to the effect of handmade in Petaluma, CA. I bought my last one probably 4 or 5 years ago. Did they move?

Mesa is in Petaluma and K&M (Two Rock) is in Rhonert Park. Petaluma and RP are super close to eachother, and near Santa Rosa. Petaluma is about 40 miles fnorth of San Francisco.

  6. Here is the photo of the new pocket stitching.

there is ONE minor difference, the two lines that form the diamond in the middle where the four lines intersect are being removed. so it'll look the same, but no diamond image. hope that makes sense..

It is strange how that pocket is cut. I have had some jeans that are cut a little off, but that is extreme.

Here is my vintage souvenir jacket I got in Bangkok. Does anyone know what it says?

  7. Kiya, I will give you a heads up next time I stop by.

I was really impressed with the sweatshrts in Japan. I got one made by Two Moon that is amazing. There were a bunch of awesome printed ones by UES, but they were too small for me.

  8. I prefer my amps handmade in Fullerton, Ca and covered in tweed. But on topic, I got the red plaid Flat Head shirt at Selfedge this weekend and I am very impressed with the quality. It is made with highly detailed selvage cloth and has all the detail one would expect in a 1940's work shirt. Unfortunately, I will have to buy more. Also, there is a really cute girls that is short sleaved that I wanna buy for my wife.

The Flat Head jeans look awesome too, but I am going to have to break in 3 pairs of jeans before I buy another pair.

  9. Wow, I hadn't realize that they are made with veggie indigo. The slim ones are made with 13.8 oz denim and the straight jeans are made with 14.5 oz denim. I beleive that you sacrifice contrast with heavier denim. 13.8 is still really heavy. So that means you have to work hard to get creases and wait longer between washes.

These are size 31, my Imperials are size 32. These are a little bigger (by maybe 3/4 inch) in the waist. I am glad I got these instead of Diors.

  10. I am pretty sure that these would be able to handle a lot of abuse. I am trying to wear my jeans in hard these days but to not get them as dirty. The zipper is identical to a Scovill Gripper Zipper, so it is definately going to handle some abuse. It is a Universal, I had a pair of Denimes with the same zipper. It is a snap lock type. I am glad these are lighter weight denim because I haven't had any in a long time. Lighter weight denim shows compact creases and abrades easier.

  11. If you are talking about Somet: They are lower than both. Imperials have a huge back rise. The front and back rise is about an inch lower than NS and Jean Shop Classics. The hips are really square, which is nice.

Redmoon: The front and back rise is the same as NS and Jean Shop Classics. they are square in the hips too.
