  1. I went to the Ippudo soft opening on Saturday and I thought the place really gimicky. there's alot of random stuff on the menu, including sushi which is off putting... I also find it strange that they have $100 bottles of sake in a ramen store...

aside from adapting the store to something more new york, not only was the noodle hardness not an option, it was actually over cooked! the pork itself was not as tender as the roppongi stores but the soup was still ok (the akamaru). and um... they also served miso and shoyu ramens...

oh yea forgot the point i was trying to make- minca is still a strong contender in the ramen game even with ippudo around.

  2. subarashi,

egyptian cotton too comes in grades. of course the basis for finding nice sheets is egyptian cotton + high threadcount but this principle applies to cashmere too.

eg. uniqlo cashmere isn't the same as say, loro piana cashmere.

to really gauge it you really need to feel it first.

  3. i don't know if this is a spring break thing at all... but its definitely a good 3/4 day trip, albeit a bit far from the USA.

right now i'm sitting in a reykjavik coffee shop right now soaking it all in. iceland is truly an amazing country. i'm here for the end of winter and done a whole load of wintry stuff, wondering if i should come back in the summer as the country goes through a jekyll and hyde transformation.

right now the mountains are all white and the waterfalls/ geysers/ coastal features and all these geological wonders are truly sublime. i went inside the tundras n all and its amazing how small icelandic nature makes you feel.

May is the official summer season here, but if you come in april i'm guessing you'd see some snow melt away, giving away to jet black rocks n stuff. reykjavik itself is pretty damned sweet, but you can be done with the city in a day. the other times, you would go out on a day tour to see whatever you want, and come back in the evening in time to enjoy the sweet night life.

i'll end the ramble here (getting a bit carried away). if you're actually curious send me a pm i could tell you a bit more.

  4. I used to own a pair but got bored of them.

quality wise, they are damned sweet. they use this 'air titanium' crap thats super light (u really can't feel the weight at all...) and flexible (really ultra bendy ones- the glasses can be stretched out until its almost straight).

if you find a style that you like, i highly recommend it. hated the transition from lindebergs back into plastic frames cos they seemd so heavy after.

  5. so much about choosing bedding comes from feeling the materials and just finding one that feels right against skin no?

i'd suggest not purchasing it from a webstore but doing walk ins. i dont know how much you're willing to blow but i know abc carpets in new york sells some super super nice cotton. its a home departmenet store (high end) that has a whole floor dedicated to bedding.

  6. are you kidding me?

the pink one is so much easier to wear because it actually has character. the brown is just so super simple and plain its hard to make it stand out.

and yeah, i agree, you shouldnt have bought it.

  7. Juan Davila.

I saw one of his paintings at the Documenta, and even though I am not very versed on art, there is probably a lot of room for interpretation.

critiquing a painting is more than just a personal interpretation though. a proper written homework normally requires one to cite compare the painting to the zeitgeist and how it relates social/ political climates. its probably easiest to compare a painting in a big movement i.e. impressionism/ cubism etc because there is plenty of writing during those times.

  8. I am the real deal and my products are fashionable. I just dont have the multimillions, namesake, and connnections to take my dream from sample to the showroom and make it a reality.

Ever thought about being on Project Runway, the reality show hosted by Heidi Klum?

  9. Napoleon Dynamite: Well, nobody's going to go out with *me*!

Pedro: Have you asked anybody yet?

Napoleon Dynamite: No, but who would? I don't even have any good skills.

    Pedro: What do you mean?

Napoleon Dynamite: You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.

Pedro: Aren't you pretty good at drawing, like animals and warriors and stuff?

Napoleon Dynamite: Yes... probably the best that I know of.

Pedro: Just draw a picture of the girl you want to take out... and give it to her for like a gift or something.

Napoleon Dynamite: That's a pretty good idea.

    thanks to imdb
