  1. I want to get a pair of unwashed, raw heavy selvedge denim and quite a few are about 14 oz. denim

I noticed that Samurai jeans offers up to 19oz. denim. Anyway have any experience with the 19oz. variety?

    I'm considering:-

    S510XX19ozII : http://www.samurai-j.com/samurai/samurai_main.html

Any recommendations of other heavy denim would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Any idea what weight unwashed selvedge denim Nom De Guerre uses. I held it once and it was really thick and heavy.

bobby alto, are you referring to Mhi or Maharishi? Because Maharishi gear is pretty expensive compared to Mhi's more accessible price.

    Rakis, love the jacket.

    Thanks. Its simply awesome.

    Love those zippers.

(Sorry I could not post the pics properly)

  3. Its in pounds as its a UK based brand and associate site...they are "upmarket" streetwear, have always released items at that price point so its not shocking.....but we have sales and stuff gets slashed between 30-50% twice a year and warehouse sales twice a year to pick up stuff we may have missed.....I am a big fan and I have bought loads of stuff, and I find their approach and designs (in particular the bonsai camo) absolutely awesome...I bought a very very warm overjacket with Goretex in black with an extremely heavy-duty quilted lining in orange bonsai camo...its trippy stuff and although I hesitated at first (I was heavy and way too warm), we had a rather bitter late winter spell and that kept me absolutely insulated. It cost 250q, reduced from 500q!!! Worth every cent considering it kept me so warm during winter.....

  4. Mmm, why can't someone just wear whatever he likes without all the snide comments from haters...true, to some its a religion, to others its fronting, someone may just dig it and buy it at retail.....BAPE has been around for about 10 years, it was very popular, then it became unpopular and now its popular again...and again, the popularity will fade with time.....so, all the hate parody makes a statement of the the times....why not just make a "I hate resellers" tee, as these are the ones that push up prices of a US$250 hoody to US$1000 because there is a demand...but hey, welcome to capitalism 21st century style...ebay it, google it, blog it, forum it....its all out there...

  5. Bro, that's fake straight up...the colour gives it away more than anything else.

US$270 is way too cheap considering what resellers are asking. If you think about it, if you managed to buy a BAPE purple camo hoodie (which people queued for 4 days in the last week of December, raining and cold), and the price is a 1/4 of what resellers are demanding, something is definitely not right.

You can ask the guys here:

    *THE OFFICIAL BAPE LEGIT CHECK!*:

    http://www.bapetalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=21&start=270

This is what a real purple camo hoodie looks like:

And that is the price you should be looking at....

Also, you can always check with the bapeheads on bapetalk on whether an item is legit or whether the seller can be trusted.....

    Sorry you got skanked man!

  6. Hi, Off to Paris this weekend and I want to definitely check out some boutiques....I read somewhere that Number (n)ine have some presence there now. And maybe Undercover.

I've been to Colette and will be checking out Comme des Garcons. Any other recommendations?

    Thanks!

  7. Probably because they have released pretty tight designs + the quality and pricing is good and bobbyhundreds & his crew are pretty down to earth? Also, people on the hypebeast forum like them. They are not massively hyped over but they are respected.

  8. Bad news for those who wanted the paisley but have yet to place an order....the entire Hundreds Spring collection has sold out. Everything is gone...from t-shirst to hoodies....this is what happened:

HOLY OH MY GOD WHOA WHAT THE HELL BACK UP

    WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So since I was up so late last night putting the new season up, I turned my phone off so that I could sleep-in in peace. That plan didn't go according to plan considering Ben called my girl to come bang on my door and wake me up at an ungodly hour. Why?

    Well, because of you guys.

Thanks to you, we sold out of all our online inventory at some point last night. I mean, which one of you sickos is up at 4am buying t-shirts with woodpeckers on 'em?

So I must apologize to all our loyal customers because as it stands now, everything is completely sold out. The Collection will be temporarily removed until we figure out how to deal with our inventory problem.

There's a great book out there called "Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Those of you who've read it know what I'm talking about. Anyways, at some point last night -- I'm thinking about 4am -- we may have had our own little "tipping point."

    I'm going back to sleep.

I truly respect the fact that the label is small but has a huge following...the only hype about the hoodies was generated by people on the forum and by word of mouth...no aggressive hype as well....well done to them....icon_smile_cool.gif

  9. Actually, BAPE is not as expensive as many make it out to be....if you check on the official website, you will notice that prices in Japan are so much lower (and I mean basic retail prices)...that is also one reason Japanese resellers specifically are having a great time...prices were lowered in BAPE japan recently but the prices in New York and London remain much higher....a pair of BAPE STAs retail for the equivalent of about £65-£70. In London, the BWS charges £120!!!The obvious reasons would be freight costs and import duties. The limited runs (and the hype around certain items eg the purple camo hoodies) drive prices sky high on the reseller/secondary market. The same hoodie in the London store retailed for £170 (it was much lower in Japan, around £130 or something) but resellers are selling them on ebay for around US$1800. Yes almost US$2k!!! That's reseller greed and hyped up demand. In terms of prices, Japan is cheapes, New York second and London, yet again, the most expensive. In actual fact, recently as prices went down in Japan, they actually increased in London!!! I am not really sure whether the BAPE store in London is a franchise set-up of sorts (I think it is)...in that case, Nigo (or more specifically his company because most overlook that BAPE is a company, not a one-man show - it is the equivalent of saying that Bill Gates writes the software for Microsoft or that Steve Jobs spends hows designing the next I-pod- that just doesn't happen folks) does not set the prices in London or NY, it is whoever owns that franchise. Its a pretty good deal from a business perspective. The wholesale price is reduced, your push up the prices in your store on the retail front and you still sell-out of every single item the day it is released or soon afterwards. That is a retailer's dream (from a profit perspective).

So when you look at the BAPE phenomenon from the secondary market/reseller perspective, yes, the clothes are way too expensive. But if you can get it at retail, then you are not being massively ripped off. I have heard that quality has slipped over the years but if the retail prices are as low as they are in Japan, then you are paying for about that level of quality. The only problem of course is that those that really love the brand or are diehard resellers are willing to queue up for nights on end in awful weather just to cop that particular hoodie or jacket.....the same thing happens to certain Nike releases....even Supreme has a similar following (but perhaps not as obsessed)......

  10. I was in Singapore a couple of weeks ago (on a 1 month sabbatical) and I had packed my Nudies RR and Edwins Rainbows.....dry/raw selvedge is not suitable for that weather....I dies trying to wear them out...besides, I like to keep my jeans raw i.e. not have to wash them but dry clean once every 6 months....I wear my jeans twice a week on weekends as (I can't wear jeans to work) and I have a choice of APC, Nudies, Maharishi, Edwins, pluc I am in London so the weather here is fine for raw selvedge...but in Singapore....fugetaboutit.....

Anyway, if you are a denim freak then check out the Visvim range at Surrender....raw selvedge, high quality for S$450....when I was there I heard that peeps were freaking out over Neighborhood jeans (not necessarily selvedge)....I picked up APC (Le Anglaise) in Singapore but a mate had picked it up for me in New York.....I guess there is a momentum in Singapore now for raw/unwashed denim but the weather is prohibitive....the denim does smell at the end of the day...... icon_smile_sad.gif

  11. Saw a new shipment of Tenderloin raw selvedge jeans drop the weekend just gone and it was my first time coming across them. They retail for £150 which is quite a bit. Anybody with any feedback about the range i.e in terms of price, quality and value for money? In that price range, I can easily cop 2 pairs of Edwins Waynesville, a pair of Nudies RR selvedge, Lee Jap edition yellow Cone Mill selvedge, etc....just wondering if there are any particular features that make it a standout pair...

Also, I saw a pair of NDG selvedge denim jeans recently and they looked absolutely awesome...retail is close to the US$300 mark but they looked and felt much better than the Tenderloins....anybody with experience of both or even some feedback on NDG?

    Thanks

  12. Also, if you run a search on ebay, there is someone who is selling a variety of T-shirts for about 20quid each....quality of the tees are a little on the thin side but the actual prints are awesome....my fave detail remains the column of icons that are on the back of these tees....as far as I know Zoltar no longer exists as a brand as House 33 is the successor label/brand...they should be releasing some really cool stuff this year iincluding a collab toy with Bounty Hunter...

  13. Hi,

I am on holiday in Singapore at the moment and if you can find a pic of the beanie on the net send it to me. You can send me the money via Paypal and I will hook you up.

You can save on postage as well as I am back in London in the week starting the 20th so if you can wait till then, it will be cheaper. Otherwise, I can post it to you from here. I know Far East Plaza quite well so I should be able to find it (provided it is still there of course)....

  14. Been a big fan for Carhartt for a while and their hooded tops are fantastic. The thickness is unlike anything I have ever seen or tried on before. In the past couple of months I have bought an awesome jacket (that has beaten the strong winter winds hands down) and even a brown velvet/velour tracksuit top....awesome....on top of that, te Carhart store in London also has flyers on the counter pointing the way to their warehouse in Hackney (where stuff is between 30-50% cheaper)......in my opinion, one of the best, usable and pragmatic labels out there plus, affordable....icon_smile_tongue.gif
