  1. @performedbeef

    that last picture is just incredible.

    Wow, so many great fades! All of y'alls jeans have evolved incredibly. I don't stand a chance   :laugh:

    Sorry I haven't been too active the past few months. Since I've been back home from Thailand I've been working as an intern, trying to bust my butt for a full time job. It's been a bit loco trying to balance work, hobbies, and social life. Being abroad I had more personal responsibilities but back home feels more like the real world. Everything's busy but things are going well. Good news! I got a raise today with an extended contract. A few more dollars are nice and I know the people above like my work. Also I've been riding my motorcycle a lot. It's the best part of my day every day.

    Anyways, here's my submission. sz 30 Greasers-30in inseam (ht: 5 9", wt: 160lb), ~250 wears, ~5 washes. I wasn't able to give em a wash before the deadline but I'll get pics of em after the contest

    Thanks to Left Field for holding this contest and being generous to the participants. Good luck with the judging.. you'll need it lol

  2. daaaang nice updates everyone. I gotta step my game up!

    I got my first motorcycle! Honda Shadow 600c. Love it so far, excited to see where the motorcycle path leads.

  3. Hey all!  I'm hoping to buy a pair of left field Black Maria's and was hoping that some of you all would be able to offer sizing/fit advice.  My favorite jeans are Samurai 710's in size 34 and I'm debating between the Greasers and Atlas fits.  I'm hoping for a slightly similar cut/fit to the 710's.  Any suggestions would be great!

    IMO, the greasers would be very close. Compare sizing charts between a 710 and the BM greasers to get the most accurate fit

  4. @andrewrose

    those are looking great man!

    @LickSquid

    that's a perfect fit and those fades are nice as well

    @Left Field

    Will you guys be having a sale for Memorial Day?

    edit: saw the IG post... when's your next sale for everyday folk :D

    edit2: nevermind I see that M1610 is for everybody :D

  5. ^ haha dope stuff Pizza.  Never heard of Ween but I'm digging the artwork.

    Guys, I just got back from South East Asia and I'm home in Cali.  Forgot how beautiful America is.. truly the greatest country in the world.  Came home to some sick LF gear... thanks Leftfield!!

    Before going home I decided to go on a short trip to Cambodia with my friend.  Asked her to take some shots of me in my BMs while I frolick in some temples and some of em turned out pretty cool.  BTW, if you're considering wearing black jeans in 100F heat... DO IT hahahaha

    Also, if any of you guys are martial art/fight fans.. I had my first Muay Thai fight on my last week in Thailand. Here it is if y'all are interested to watch.

    I also wrote a reddit post on my overall denim experience in Thailand. Here's a link if you want to check that out as well.

  6. @brennen wearing in nicely, the long cotton strands in this denim make a nice smooth grain,as well as an oily looking shine on mine

    @pudas good to see the Nihon faded,  considering do more with that mill

    For anyone posting on instagram please use #blackmariafadecontest we will take post into consideration for contest winners. Going to be  finally cutting the 18 oz Collect and a blk/blk 14 oz sulphur from Blue Selvedge Mills as well as some more restock in the 14 oz  black sulphur from Collect. We are offering a free navy tube tee, comb and bandanna to all participants for your support and enthusiasm. Pm us with your address and tee size. Send us some picts to post on instagram wearing them in your local habitat!  best, Christian

    What's the reason you're adding a different 14oz sulphur black/black to your line?

    I've decided I won't be staying any longer in Thailand and I'll be leaving soon after the semester ends. To commemorate my time here I got a Yantra tattoo, a traditional tattoo made by Buddhist monks and historically given to warriors with the belief that the mark will grant magical protection.

    Here I am getting inked up! The monk uses a long metal rod, and repeatedly jabs the skin at about 120bpm. Very quick process, and less painful than a gun (in my experience).

    F6pXm3Nl.jpg

    Here's the result. My friend helped me choose this lotus flower. Since the monk had limited English, I sent a photo of the design to my supervisor and she said the design grants me immunity to weapons (but not women, she's a funny one). Enjoy the selvedge, ropes, and faint train-tracks!

  7. @BrennenCooke

    nice fades!

    @givemefive

    interesting observation. I can't speak on the 'correct' method for back pocket rivets but I believe LF's must provide some reinforcement.

    Had to machine wash my Black Maria's a couple days ago. I performed a b-boy show with a few of my students... unfortunately it rained all day so when it was our turn to dance, the stage was incredibly muddy. Instead of flipping and spinning we were slipping and falling. Luckily the cold and rain kept most of the town indoors so instead of being embarrassed it was quite a fun experience. Here are the results of the mud:

    No way was I hand washing these so into the machine they went. Post wash, I felt like the pants had reached a milestone. They are significantly softer and lighter in color. With 9 months left in the contest, I'm excited to see how these jeans look and wear in the end.

  8. ^ nice wear!

    Gave my greasers their third hand wash a few days ago.

    Some vertical streaking coming alive.

    I'm no denim scientist, but I believe the hot water shrank the fabric at the hem just enough to create more roping.

  9. @ mr.d

    teaching kids sounds like heaven and hell. i'm teaching high schoolers for only a semester. definitely not for me. once it's over i'm going to try my hand at private tutoring

    @Left Field

    my Imperials started out with plenty of room. after shrinking they were snug. stretched out to a perfect fit. didn't overstretch at all.

    @whiskeyriver

    gotta get more than 25 wears in buddy!

  10. @pizzacrust

    I gotta try TCB sometime. their stuff looks good

    @knucks

    That jacket looks awesome!! Once I get my own motorcycle.. I'll pick up a leather jacket as well

    @leftfield

    For me, unsanforized denim adds a new dimension to jeans. I've had two experiences. The first one was a pair of Imperials. I sized correctly and the fit ended up perfect. They're my favorite pair. My second time did not go as well. I sized too small on a pair of Onis, and if I were to soak them they would be unwearable. They fit great right now, so I'm going to wear them with no soaks/washes and spot cleaning. I'd never think of wearing unsanforized jeans that haven't been shrunk but the one time I visited Blue Owl, Jay mentioned he wore his jeans this way (weird imo).

    When I did it right, the whole process of unsanforized denim was very rewarding. The jeans molded to my body nicely, and the character of the denim is charactery. That said, I would say my plans for future pairs are about 50/50 unsanforized and sanforized; unsanforized denim is great but I wouldn't order it online again.

  11. @itschrisb

    Those will definitely help! I'd also practice making each stitch consistent in tension, needle placement, etc.

    Cheers! idk if it's possible but you should concoct some raw denim inspired shave soap :D. some new jeans smell.. a little leather.. sweat and dirt? haha

    @PizzaCrust

    nice fit man. awesome trucker, what is it? Full Count?

  12. @itschrisb

    fades looking good!

    Wow, jack of all trades. Let me know if you ever start making shaving soap.

    A knife and match slot in a trucker sounds awesome. Looking forward to seeing it! If you don't mind some cc... your stitching could use some cleaning up. Do you use pricking irons or an awl?

    @Left Field

    ever going to use unsanforized denim?

  13. I got my first piece of Flat Head clothing a few days ago at Pronto. New favorite shirt! Will definitely be considering their jeans the next time I need a pair.

  14. @mr.d

    what do you teach?

    @coolhoundluke

    tell me about it man.. too many pants, not enough legs.

    @brennencooke

    nice Western! I got my first FH product a few days ago, a loopwheel baseball tee. Their stuff is niiiiice

  15. Haven't had too much time to post recently, plus my girlfriend/designated picture taker and I recently split off after about 3 years so things have been pretty hectic in my neck of the woods.

    Anyways, been really digging the Black Marias and Car Club jacket combo recently. Also picked up a pair of the Red Wing Policemans the other day so I've been hitting that murdered out aesthetic a lot.

    The jeans are coming along super well. I'm starting to get some holes going in the back pockets, and my crotch is definitely wearing thin but it probably has a few more weeks until it goes completely.

    sounds rough man.. hope you're doing well. the jeans sound dope!

    What do you all keep in your pockets? I just realized mine are all full... keys and knife in left, wallet in right. phone or moleskin in right butt, and hanky in left butt.

  16. @itschrisb

    niiiice keep it up homie! my favorite thing about leatherwork is making things for friends and family. my second favorite thing is actualizing an idea i have for personal use.

    when i used to smoke in college i made this wallet-spliff-case-hybrid. ig link

    @aanerdyasian

    nice baby!! :D air-chair next :D

    @left field

    girl in pain? D:
    one of my life goal's to make it to a Rock Steady anniversary (should do it quick, they gettin up there in the years). the new modern styles and power coming out right now are mind blowing, but there's nothing like the og flavor.

    @white washed

    just gave my BM's a tub wash last night with some dr. bonners! i wanted to hold off a bit longer but they got pretty dirty over my weekend excursion. there's a small amount of greying, but when i flip em inside out you can see a whole lot of fading

    My Indigo Twill Miners. Sz 30 TTS. loooove these. the fit is spot on for me. horn buttons make me feel tingly

  17. @itschrisb

    Good stuff man! Planning on making anything else? I do a little leatherwork myself (I'm pretty bad tho), and a belt was my first project. I went with veg-tan and black hardware as well!

    Here it is now with about almost two years of wear:
