  1. If you're talking about the one that's in stores now I wouldn't expect to see it on sale for a few months yet.

Yeah, apparently I purchased mine in early June last year, and for $350, not $250. I'll keep an eye out.

  2. I've been abstaining from this thread for the sake of my retirement portfolio, but I'm curious: Anywhere to look/watch for a Blazer LT in Mesos Blue on sale? I paid $250 for one in grey (size M) last year (I think) and at that price I love it.

  3. Picked up a Blazer LT (black) on a whim this past weekend, after seeing a friend looking celery-crisp in one.  Quite liking it.  The severe cut has turned a few heads.  Looks fine with clean Levis.  Its light weight, low volume, and actual crushability will permit me to pack a "grownup jacket option" when I travel.  Lock up your cocktail waitresses.

It's one of my favorite pieces of clothing, and I won't fly without it. IMHO it doesn't look out of place in business meetings as long as a jacket isn't a requirement. I'm in a technical field; I'm sure it'd be different in law or finance. But for me it works great and I get a lot of compliments on it in casual settings. I've got a gray one, and am looking to pick up a blue if/when I see one on sale.

  4. I was hoping to get a pair second hand but I'll probably just end up buying a new pair and doing this.

Generally which pairs are the least slim?  It sounds like from wrong guy's post future works are what I want to look into

Probably so. Futureworks, OGs, and Ultralights are all pretty roomy, and the Futureworks are the most casual of the three.

  5. Thought I'd post a report on some pants I just received, the Proof NY Surface. They're extremely similar to Outlier's 60/30 chinos so a comparison is in order.

Both are priced similarly, although Proof regularly puts out coupons. Currently there's a 20% off (FB20), and there's always 15% off (JOIN15) for new customers. I've seen up to 30% off. Quality-wise the Surface pants seem similar, if not slightly more finished than the 60/30s.

I was really looking forward to the olive color in the Surface pants, but it's much more brown than I expected. Looking back at the product photos they seem pretty true-to-life, so perhaps I was just misled by the "olive" name. I was looking for more of a gray/green tint.

The feel and stretch of the two pants is very, very similar. The Surface is a bit roomier. This is what I get for measurements, keeping in mind that my 60/30s have been washed a couple of times. Both are tagged 32.

           Surface 60/30
    waist 17" 16.25"
    f. rise 11" 10"
    thigh 11.75" 11.75"
    leg 7.75" 7.5"

While the Surface does feel roomier in the waist, I was surprised that they measured so much larger than the 60/30s, which are by no means too tight. Obviously there is some stretch in the waistband which allows for a bit of breathing room. I was surprised at the difference in rise, because the 60/30s don't feel as ball-poppingly snug as the measurement would indicate.

My biggest complaint about the Surface is the pocket flare, which is along the lines of what I get with Outlier New OGs. That combined with my disappointment in the olive color (just not my thing) will have me sending them back.

  6. Thanks for talking me into ordering a TAD hoodie and a henley, jerks. Now my wife is going to give me grief and it's all your fault.

Seriously though, the stuff looks great for the price. Looking forward to trying it on. I went with a small in both pieces based on their size chart. I'm a 38" chest and typically wear small in AV and medium in Outlier.

  7. Do the cargo lt pants fit tts or should I size up from a 30 to a 32? Thanks

I didn't keep the pair I tried but they fit in the waist and were a 33, and I usually take a 32 waist in most mainstream brands (also Outlier/Proof). So I'd say that the Cargo LTs are slightly more forgiving than a "true" TTS pant.

  8. Do we have a Veilance sale thread? Interest check on a Sira Gray Blazer LT, size L. Worn a few times, but I'm really a size M. PM me for pics and details

I have that jacket in M and you can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead body. One of my favorite pieces of clothing. Love it for travel, particularly on business. It's definitely too casual to fit in if everybody else in the room is wearing a tailored jacket or suit, but it's perfect for my needs. The Sira Gray is a great color, too.

  9. Do it. They can be easily had at half retail and it's really your best bang for the buck. Avoid this past season's, though; it's ugly has fuck.

    But I like mine

For real though, it's a great hardshell. I'm a S/M in AV and went with the S in the field jacket and can still easily layer with it.

  10. It needs heat to reactivate. I usually give my Nanosphere stuff about 10 minutes in low or medium heat and pull them out and let them air dry the rest of the way. It seems to do the trick.

    Cheers for that.

Wanted to provide some numbers on shrinkage for the 60/30 chino. As mentioned above I put them through a wash (warm), and then I dried them on medium heat for about 10 minutes after which time I pulled them out and let them air dry. Before/after shrinkage was:

    waist (half): 1.5 cm

    thigh (half): 0.5 cm

    inseam: 1.0 cm

Obviously there's a bit of a margin for error but I'm pleased. By the numbers the waist seems to have shrunk a decent amount but fit seems to be the same, possibly due to the stretch in the waistband. I think it's fair to say to expect just a small bit of shrinkage, which is exactly what Outlier's CS told me when I asked.

  11. I need to get my new 60/30s hemmed and I want to put them through a laundry cycle first to get any shrinkage out of the way. I'll wash warm and would typically air dry flat, but what's the deal with machine drying to restore water repellancy? Should that be done on low/no heat?

  12. I'm 5'11" 160-165 with narrow shoulders and a 38" chest and a S fits me very well in the Field Jacket LT. I'm usually a medium slim in mainstream brands but am glad that I sized down for the field jacket. ymmv
