  1. @JasonLee: I tried the white monitor in Oslo, fit felt far too bulky to me. However, if you don't mind that the white is very striking in person.

Thanks for the tip! I don't think I could pull off a white coat, but it still looks nice in the pictures.

  2. Thinking about picking up a Field jacket. Does anyone know what's the difference between the Field IS and the regular Field? Is it just the thickness?

    Thanks!

Insulated is warmer than the regular field

  3. Information regarding Galvanic IS/Imbric recall from Veilance:

Arc'teryx is committed to creating durable products that perform exceptionally well. We have recently discovered that one of our face fabrics is not meeting our standards. The products below are susceptible to premature abrasion of the face fabric. All fabrics are subject to abrasion through wear-and-tear over time, however this is occurring more quickly than what we find acceptable.

    The following models are affected:
    1. Fall 2014 Galvanic IS Coat (Model #14820)
    2. Spring 2015 Imbric Jacket (Model #15642)

We have contacted each official Arc'teryx retailer and customer who purchased the product online.

I apologize for the inconvenience and would like to offer you the following options for your case:

    1. Replacement with a different item out of our Fall 2015 Arc'teryx Veilance collection or Outdoor line
    2. Replacement with the revised Galvanic in 2016
    3. Credit

    a. Refund possible if directly purchased through Veilance.com
    b. If purchased through a store the credit will need to be issued through the store

In case you should have any questions please do not hesitate and contact us under 1-866-259-6656

  4. It's way too warm. It was good in Chicago winters until below 0ºC with a thin cashmere/wool sweater underneath. Speaking of Galvanic, apparently Arc'teryx recalled the entire Galvanic coat line and is offering full refunds through their customer service, due to face wear issues (as mentioned earlier in this thread.)

How would one go about getting a refund (i.e. if I call in, what should I say)? Are they only refunding galvanics bought directly from their online store? Is it a specific season? Thank you!

I haven't worn this particular jacket, but judging from my experience with other insulated Veilance pieces, you're going to boil in there. While they are comfortable across a range of temperature, these pieces were designed more with Canadian than Californian winters in mind so I don't think they are comfortable above ~35-40 degrees.

    I agree 100% with this.

  5. What would be the difference between Field Jacket SV and Field Jacket Insulated? They are both winter jackets but why the name difference?

I think this is something that you might want to call in to ask.

  6. Great news!

Now, is the Actuator on Haven the same as the one on the official website?

Any reason not to buy it from Haven?

What's the great news? Yes, the actuator on haven is the same as the one on the veilance online store. There is no reason not to buy it from Haven (unless you want to pay more I guess).

  7. That looks pretty bad.

In other news i got my ss15 voronois today. The fabric is quite a radical departure from the previous voronois. It's an ultra-lightweight nylon plain weave that is quite possibly the thinnest technical fabric i've ever laid eyes on. Imagine the thinnest nylon you've ever seen, and then thinner still. If the entire pant weighs more than 150 grams i'd be shocked. I'm not sure what to think of it, as the previous voronois' beefy twill had a nice sturdy drape to it that really emphasized the geometric cut. This fabric still drapes better than some other nylon pants i own, who drape more like yoga pants, but it's definitely a huge departure from the previous model and honestly just doesn't feel as nice/classy. Wearing them just feels like wearing mainline bird hiking pants, really.

I'll have to try them on in person at the DC store sometime! Yeah it sucks. Just like VA weather right now haha
  8. what happened to your galvanic?

considering you already have a long coat, id go for one of their field jacket variations, the insulated one seems especially nice

The jacket smelled weird when I got it (bought it off eBay) so I put it in the dryer (medium - as recommended) for 5 mins with a dryer sheet to see if it would smell better. I have no idea what happened (neither does the customer service rep at veilance), but a waxy/grease-like material appeared on the jacket (no the dryer sheet did not melt onto the coat). The rep tried all their cleaning products (grangers, etc.) but apparently it didn't work. He said he would try to see if dry-cleaning the jacket would help (of course it is not recommended to dry clean your veilance pieces usually, but I don't think he means "standard" dry cleaning). If that doesn't work, I guess that it will become my beater that I wear while rowing.

I could get 50% off any veilance piece, but they would keep my galvanic. I know that there are a few places that are selling veilance at 50% off already online so this option doesn't make much sense.

Pics don't show how bad it looks in person haha

  9. If you could get one jacket 50% off Veilance's web pricing, which would you get? Long story short, my galvanic got damaged and apparently they can't do anything to repair it. I already have the patrol/align from fw2014

  10. Quick question: What is a good price to pick up a used Node IS jacket? Is $500 reasonable (considering retail is $1000)?

I guess it depends on how much money you set aside for outerwear/how addicted you are to Veilance, but I wouldn't do it. Of course I am in college without a job... so I can only pick up steals.

Translation: $500 is not a great price for you. Veilance gets sold somewhere around 50% off retail or more online so see if you can talk the seller down.

PS - Patrol IS in graphite is awesome.

  11. Hey I think the fit would look better if you loosened up the cobra snaps on the ankle, looks too tapered that way. Also are you a true to size 32 because looking at your pictures I think I will need the 30s.

I tried them on with the cobra snaps loosened (after the pictures), and it still felt/looked weird. Yes I am a true 32, or larger (I mean that there is no way I am less than 32), but the waist was loose when I tried them on (could fit my hand in). The apparats are apparently Veilance's roomiest cut, with the liminals coming in next and the voronoi's being the slimmest. I sent the pants back to Mr. Porter today and am hoping to try on the liminals when I get a chance to visit the DC store.

Arc'teryx said they will have their SS2015 up on their website by next Wed. Getting my repaired Patrol IS liner tomorrow so excited for that :)

BTW I think Haven has the apparats for cheaper ($350 CAD as opposed to USD) than anywhere else. I mention it because I noticed your info said you're in Toronto. Check out some of the new season in store for us!

  12. S/S 2015 Apparat Measurements:

    Waist 16.5"

    Thigh: 12"

    Inseam: 30"

Edit: Was wearing the apparats around the house and they feel good. I guess it just takes some time to get used to them. If you have big calves, the pants will definitely feel tight/snug.
