  1. Hey Chris:

For what it's worth, I love my White's (I have several pairs). They are well made, tough, and look great. Best of all for me is the support they provide - I can wear them all day standing and moving about but my legs and feet remain feeling great. Depending on your needs, the semi-dress boot is a great compromise between a work boot and a boot that can be used in casual/dress situations (hence its name). Get a pair in brown or black dress leather and you have a boot that works well with jeans, chinos, or slacks - preferably Left Field of course!

i quickly realized that most people live in places that dont require boots haha

i still cant decide on what to get. I wish i could just get one of each! i guess its just like jeans

  2. Just got my salt & pepper miner chinos and I really like them! The fit is spot on as usual, very close to my other LF chinos and jeans. The fabric feels great and has a real heft to it. This chino is aptly called "workwear" in that it feels like it could take a beating, yet it also could work well in the office and on more "dressy" occasions.

  3. I have both and the black and blue greasers definitely run smaller than Marias.

Got my black marias last week (my first greasers) and I love the fit. I was thinking of picking up a pair of Black and Blue Greasers also but the website sizing is very different (size 32) from my Black Marias. Do you think this is a mistake or should I expect it to be different?

  4. What I minute ... I've been off this board for awhile and there is now a Black Maria contest? Hot dog, I want in! Is it too late, Christian? My current Black Maria's are my favorite jean ever. Do the new ones measure the same as the old ones (size 40)?

  5. Wait, what's all this about the new "Charles Atlas" fit jeans? How did I miss this news till now? ;-)

I'm interested in pre-ordering but am wondering about the measurements (don't see them on the website). Will the upper block measurements be the same as the "standard" greaser or more like the new Black/Blue collab. greaser? Relative merits of the collect mills 14 oz. and the cone 13 oz.?

  6. Those 17oz. cones look nice, MileHigh. I have a pair of 15 oz. and now recently a 13 oz. pair (to round out my collection) of greaser cones. I too gave both an initial soak to get rid of some of the starch and had the same result. I really like this classic greaser cut and they fit me just right. My all time favorite pair is still the Black Maria which is really fading nicely for me now - there's just something about them that is just right. I hope Christian keeps on making them just as they are!

  7. I couldn't resist the new BlackBlue collab and spun the dice on them, hoping that the higher back rise and slightly smaller cut would work on me. Well, it works, but barely - this is definitely a different fit than my other Greasers (the more "classic" cut works better on me for sure). I think they will stretch out enough to be comfy though.

That said, the denim is beautiful and the craftmanship is superb, as always. And I really dig the patch design!

  8. As a dedicated runner (12 marathons in the past 15 years) albeit a slow one (I'm a big guy), I totally agree with Rob060 on this issue. I've found that zero drop, less support shoes actually staved off injuries for me despite my size and age. But when it comes to work, where I'm on my feet a lot, nothing beats my White's for comfort. Once my feet adapted to them, I've felt much better at the end of a day with them than with any other shoes/boots I've worn.

When it comes to running though, inevitably we've begun to see some move away from strictly minimalist trends. We now have the advent of "maximalist" shoes like the Hoka One One which have less of a drop from heel to toe than average running shoes but maximum cushion. A very Hegelian reaction I suppose ...

i'm a minimalist runner and have used zero drop shoes with no support for half marathons for years, using a forefoot striking running technique, but that is a totally different application than what is needed for an 8 hour day of work on your feet, which is what i do for my day job. that arch support is definitely welcome and needed, which is why i'll be getting some nicks boots once the tread on my red wings starts to get too low. more support and a custom fit will make my feet very happy.

  9. Hey, Christian, been away for awhile and am wondering about the sizing of the new BlackBlue collab. I've gotten size 40 in my other greasers (Black Maria, 10 oz. deadstock, Cone 15 oz., etc.) which have the same dimensions, but the BlackBlue collab 40 is an inch smaller in the waist and 1.75 inches bigger in the back rise. If they were the old greaser dimensions, I'd just order them hemmed and that would be that. Is the fit so different that I should try them first before hemming?

  10. Congrats to the winners and all contestants on the sweatpants contest. Enjoyable to see the way various entries evolved over time.

Christian or others, would love to get further insight into the fit of the BlackBlue greaser collab, given the changes in measurements in the waist and back rise. As I proud owner of 4 pairs of greasers all measured the same, I want to know if there is a major fit difference in the BlackBlue collab. Really want to order them soon, but a bit uncertain.

  11. Enthused about the BlackBlue collab greasers. Before I pull the trigger, noticed that the measurements are a bit smaller in the waist than normal in other greasers (like an inch off marked size). Will stretch take care of this? I like my greasers as they usually are size-wise. I also see that the back rise is a bit higher.

  12. Love the Black Maria pics, guys. In many ways, the Black Marias are my favorite jeans though I don't have anywhere near the fades Jonny does.

Christian, love the 23oz pics. I've been wearing my new 23 oz. almost constantly in recent weeks - they're perfect for winter. I'll be out shoveling again shortly in them!

  13. I have SDs in brown dress - this might be my favorite of all the White's leathers. I think they will develop a great patina over time.

Took a quick shot of my new (to me) White's SD's in dress brown. I took a gamble on the size, and luckily it panned out well.

  14. Yes, let's see some pics! I'm really liking my 23s and they're starting to break in nicely (though not much wear to show at this point). It really is beautiful denim ...

Can't wait to see how other people are doing with the 23s!

  15. The jacket looks great! I'm about your size (maybe a few lbs. more in the midsection) - how much room do you have after buttoning the jacket? Thanks!

went for the xl, I am 6'2" and about 200lbs. Sleeves are a bit long but it fits very nice everywhere else.

  16. Got my 23 oz. greasers just in time for the freezing weather in the Northeast. I wore them shoveling my driveway in the cold wind and my legs weren't cold at all. The Collect Mills denim is beautiful and beastly at the same time. These may take some time to break in for sure. My fingers are still sore from getting the buttons fastened for the first time. But it is clear to me that these jeans will be awesome after the break in period.

The fit is very similar to my other greasers, so good call on the sizing from you all. Clearly though there will be less give in these (or it may just take longer to see it), but this is OK. I love the thick Left Field patch on these - very distinctive. Bottom line, given that these won't be made anymore according to Christian, if you're a fan of super thick denim and if they have your size still, you should definitely consider getting a pair.

  17. Darn, was hoping they might run a bit large for a bigger guy like me. I wear a 46R suit coat but my other jackets might measure closer to 48". Not sure the XL would work ...

def not large, but not JP sizing. Jackets up. 54 pieces in both colors.

@spork Jonny says 2" 3 times, have to fold nice and clean though to keep them tight.
