It's slightly lighter in weight but has quite a bit more character in it, especially when new/raw.
How does the fit compare to the KS1001?
Killer patch. Any meaning behind it?

Roy KS1002 "Kinda Special" Jean
Roy has done another run of the KS1002 jean which has now been restocked at all of our stores. We believe this is the best fitting jean he's done thus far, hence why it's been redone in a couple of different versions. These are sure to go quick, check our online store for high-res images, a full specification list, and the size chart. The 3/16th needle spacing is killer.

Still wish he would come out with a denim jacket!
I don't think that will happen for a while. Creating the proper fit and style takes a long time and being a one man show makes it difficult.

Here's a fit pic of my newly acquired RS04.
Fit looks fantastic.

Finally picked up my ducks today at SEPDX. Tyler is one cool fucking guy and I've honestly never experienced such amazing customer service. Thanks again

I have a pair of LF ducks, and there are a few flaws that ruin things for me. I personally don't think Roy's attention to detail can be matched.Beyond that, it's very hard to compare a jean made in a factory to a jean made in a custom built factory which is run by a single person. With each jean (or shirt) that Roy does he swaps, tunes, and moves around his entire set-up so that it's to his liking for the production run he's about to tackle.
Even if you were to take the Single Man Made element out of the comparison, the construction detail and ingenuity within his products is far better than any factory in the world (that i've ever seen).
I also don't think most people know how hard it is to change up your machines and make adjustment on your own. It could take hours to properly adjust a tacker for one specific operation. Most factories have a ton of techs who do that. Doing it all on your own takes a lot if skill and time.

Double the price of the Left Field Duck Miners? That unsansforized duck must be REALLY special
Left Field craftsmanship is garbage compared to Roy.

Perhaps the 5* ratings were the reviews they created themselves and the 1* reviews were from real customers!
That's what I think.

Yes and no.. a sanforized version of this fabric has been sold to others, the unsanforized run was done for Roy.
I was under the impression that Cone does not produce much of the Duck material.

Yup!
I'm assuming it was specifically made for him?

The lighting was odd when i took those photographs for Instagram/Twitter, they don't look gray like that. But they seem a bit less orange/bronze than the last run.
Cone Mills duck?

I had a bad experience dealing with Roman the owner. I guess the best way to put it is that he doesn't seem very honest or genuine. He wasted my time and made up ridiculous excuses to renege on a deal we made. Btw, this is all in regards to to him purchasing a couple sewing machines from me.
Hard pass on anything and everything related to Roman & Lawless. His KS is also full of shit and misinformation.

Yup, that's him. AKA, the owner of Guns n' Money jeans.
Figured. I have had a hard time finding trustworthy folks who sell industrial machines.
I'm going to buy my next 43200G directly from Japan.

You're back.. posting to Sufu, but won't return any of the e-mails sent to you about a 43200g which was bought from you over a year ago and never worked. The person that bought it paid you $6000 for a paperweight.
This is funny and sad. Is this the same guy who sells nothing but shitty Union Special 43200G and Edge-Lock machines on eBay? He sold my friend a 'first generation' 43200g that never worked, and quoted me $450 for an aftermarket hemming attachment.
Hard pass on anything and everything he sells.

Next release is a Duck!
How do you know that?

You can find most manuals for free on universalsewing.com
Did you purchase this machine from an antique store in Texas? Regardless, great find!

Sorry, but what exactly happened?

Got it - sorry, being German means the finer points of humor are sometimes lost on me...
No worries. I actually grew up in Düsseldorf and moved to the US during the 90's. I still visit my family once a year, and hope to move back very soon.

but you still don't have the reese 101. your collection is incomplete
You're right. My collection is worthless with out the Reese 101.

Reece 101.M has never been rare for 2 reasons:
- it has always been quite expensive
- most of the old machines have gotten refurbished and are still to be seen in production lines today
AMF-Reece (company) is still in operation, producing the mechanical follow-ups S-100, S-101 and S-105 till this day.
You should have no problem finding a used machine, but I'm not sure if you'll like the price.
I remember learning and working on the old 101.M during my years as an industrial tailoring apprentice...
I was being sarcastic. I actually own a Reece 101 on top of other vintage industrial sewing machines.
Thanks for the info tho.

Can someone help me find Reese 101? I heard they are extremely rear.

Shameless plug for my size 36 Roy ducks. I'm not a Duck guy, but you are!

I've been searching for these ducks for a while. Still no luck.
