  1. ˆ My experience too with a recent pair of 1955s, very dark and quite slubby denim for LVC - it is starting to fade very nicely.  The cut is my favorite, but that doesn't seem to have changed much compared to my older pair.

  2. ^ It's funny you mention this - my (admittedly limited) experience with japanese brands is that their repro jeans generally look more modern than say LVC for example.  The SC 1947 is one exception (as I'm sure there are others), but the looser cuts that companies like FH, Samurai and SDA offer all look more modern, with a lower rise and less of an anti-fit top block.  It might have to do with differences in body types bw asian and westerners, in that these cuts may still look vintage on the Japanese.  But on me, they look more modern.

  3. Anyone knows if LVC changed the denim for the 1955? I recently bought my second pair of 55 (the first was last year), and the denim looks very different, hairier and somewhat slubbier than my first model - almost a Japanese quality similar to my Sugar Cane 1947. Needless to say, it looks great but I was wondering if any of you had had a similar experience or know anything about this. I'll try to post pics later, but I'm seriously lacking in the camera department, so I'm not sure the pics will show much.

  4. It's not very warm, the lining is cotton - it's fine for early fall in NY and perhaps colder days in LA. I haven't worn mine in the rain, but it should be ok for drizzle to light rain.

  5. Hi guys,

First post here though i've been reading the forum for some time. I own way to many jeans, including many "vintage" retired 501s from the early 90s. But here is my more recent collection:

    Sugar Cane 1947

    Full Count 1015

    Full Count 1108

    SDA 101

    Flat Head 3005

    LVC 501 1955

    LVC 501 1966

My main pair is the LVC 55, which has the cut that works best for me and is nicely worn in. Close second is the SC 1947 for the amazing cut and denim.
