  1. Hey guys! I'm Bryan. This is my second left field fading contest thingie, and I'm looking forward to it! I'm hoping I can keep up with some of the killers around here as my life and job isn't super active, haha.

My pair has about a week and a half or so of wear, so I'm going to try to remember to submit my final pictures about two weeks early just to be fair to everyone. They are a bit snug around my voluptuous (apparently) hips, so I'm hoping they stretch a little bit more. I guess it would also help if I stopped eating multiple cupcakes a day.

Here are a few (less than awesome) pictures!

  2. Thanks for the kind words, guys!

@EmperorSelassieEye A hole developed in the crotch of your pair pretty quickly, right? That made me feel better about tearing a hole in mine pretty much right out of the gate, haha

@jortslife I want you to know that you were instrumental in me picking up a flight jacket for myself. You should be the official model for that thing, haha

@Formula Pfaff When I saw that my pics had to follow your pictures, I was like "..oh .. oh no." I think this is probably everyone's reaction since you always have such nice shots!

I forgot to mention that I tore a chunk off one of my drawstrings a couple weeks ago, haha. I always have to pull them pretty tight to keep the sweats up, and I guess a year's worth of that was too much for one section. So now my drawstrings are a lot shorter than stock.

I also like the subtle tag fade through the back of the waistband. I think it looks pretty cool.

Thanks for checking out my pictures, guys!

  4. I went into this contest with a plan. The plan was to not wash or soak my sweats for the entire year. And, unlike many (all) of my other plans in life, this one actually worked out. When I first got the sweats, I gave them a quick rinse and a hot dry to get out any shrinkage. After that, they weren't washed or soaked for a year. They got their first wash before I took these final pictures.

I wore these almost every day. I'm fortunate to have job where I can wear them to work, and this was done a lot as long as it wasn't too hot out. Even on the hot days, I still wore the sweats in the evening for just lounging around the house. I think I exercised in them a few times. I definitely ate cookies, cakes, and brownies in them a lot more times.

Right now, there are five battle scar areas. I managed to tear a small hole in the outside of my left pocket, pretty much immediately after putting the sweats on for the first time. The pocket got snagged on a crate of laptop parts in my chaos trap of a store. There's also a hole on the seat of the sweats that developed pretty recently. Is this a sign that I sit on my ass too much? What are you trying to tell me, sweats? The right pocket is a bit worn from clipping a pocket knife. But the two major areas of wear are on the inside of both cuffs. I walk a decent amount, to, you know, combat the previously mentioned cookie intake, and these apparently rubbed a lot in the process.

I'm pretty happy with how these turned out, and I'm looking forward to further fading. Thanks for the contest, everyone! It was a lot of fun.

  5. Nice, Formula!

Does anyone have any experience with sizing the Flight Jacket? Do they fit true to size? The measurements on the website lead me to believe that they may run a little large. For reference I'm 5'10, 150lbs with about a 37" chest. I fluctuate between a small and a medium for most stuff, but my shoulders sometimes push me up into the medium range.

I'd like to be able to fit a hoodie or something underneath for super cold days.

Also, I received the new indigo denim mule skinner jacket in the mail today. I love it -- not too stiff, fits great, solid construction, and the twill lining is super soft. It's really a beautiful jacket, and It'll be awesome to see how it fades.

  6. Great pics, Not Too Tight!

What are your measurements? I ordered the indigo skinner in medium after spending a while debating between that and a small, so I'm hoping I dig the fit.

  7. That skull ring is pretty cool. Are there any pictures of anyone wearing it?

I also love the packaging on those tee's.  Nice job, guys!

Here's a quick cell camera pic of my sweats from the other night. As cool as it makes me look, I must confess that that is not my guitar. Those are my legs, however.

  8. @happybabyyoga Sandy Girl is gorgeous!

    @EmperorSelassieEye Nice pics!

@jyoni is tearing it up! I'm going to have to start rolling around on gravel or something to try and compete.

Here's a quick and admittedly awful picture I took tonight. I was rocking Left Field top and bottom today with a Tartan Workshirt and Sweat Pant combo. I love the workshirt. I wish I had picked up the two other colors when they were available.

  9. Hey guys! I'm Bryan from New Jersey.

I took a few fit pictures of my sweat pants draped over my scrawny frame. I went with a size small, and they are still pretty loose. But I just knot up the drawstring and things are fine. I did a quick rinse followed by a hot dry, and they shrunk up a bit.

    These pictures are pre-rinse/dry.

I look forward to seeing everyone's progress as their sweats get broken in!

  10. HC-SF-101 a little late to the draw here

I went with a pair of Steel Feather jeans for the competition. Anders was super nice and helpful when I had questions. And the guys at Rivet and Hide made ordering the jeans a pleasure.

This is my first pair of heavy denim and really one of my first forays into wearing good jeans. So I'm a little new to all this. The jeans are a bit slimmer than I usually wear. Here are the initial fit pics.

Since this is my first pair of heavy denim, I decided to get mud all over them for the challenge.

  11. rookie question here but the indigo selvedge canvas chinos are described as 'raw' on the leftfield website. so do they require an initial soak before wearing to get all the shrinkage out?

I have a pair with the same fabric (I think) in the greaser cut. I just soaked them after a few months, and I didn't notice any shrinkage.
