  1. Huh, I wear a size 30 (between 29 and 31 depending on fit) in non-stretch jeans, but I'm a US 8, sometimes even 6. Or so I thought...

This, so hard. Because of my hips, I've even had to size up to 33 to fit them in non-stretch, men's cut raw denim. But in normal women's jeans I am a 6 or 8.

  2. ^^^ way ahead of you, I've already stitched it up twice and am probably going to patch it soon. I was anticipating crotch blowout from the get-go considering all of my jeans end up doing it. Damn big thighs.

  3. @adventuretime: Those look great, we have several female customers who wear the ST cut. After the hem, they'll fall very nicely on your boots.

@JeansTooTight: Yes, the 140x indigo/brown denim will come in both SL and ST cuts. The 130x is first to release though, it will be coming out in 2 months.

    @Clayton: Great looking 21BSPs.

Thanks! I am really excited to see how these turn out. I am surprised by how well they have stretched to fit my hips--I've had a tough time if you can imagine and I'm not a huge fan of stretchy denim.

  4. Just got in a pair of ST-120x shadow selvedge...love them! Was a little skeptical of the men's cut fit at first but I think they will work out just fine. Definitely need to hem a LOT, I know, I'm going to send them for chainstitching probably next week.

Straight Stretch Selvedge, 3 months everyday wear, just prior to first wash. They actually ended up looking roughly the same after the wash, fades just slightly whiter and less electric blue.

Got a pair of 3sixteen ST-120x Shadow Selvedge jeans yesterday and started breaking them in today. Pictures to come!

  7. I've been combing through the topic looking for iPhone wallets. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good quality natural iPhone wallet (bifold with credit card/money pockets, preferably wouldn't have to take the phone in and out of a pocket)? Thanks!

  8. Thanks Steffz. I did poke around earlier in this topic and in the women's topic and found the earlier discussion. Super helpful :) Trying to decide whether my next pair will be the 703's or the Skull Lindas.

  9. garden gnomes - I like Naked & Famous in leggy/straight (as seen on adventuretime, above (super cute, btw)). N&F also makes bootcut. Whatever brand you decide on, if you're going to buy them for her as a surprise make sure you know the fit she's looking for. Look at her favorite pair of jeans and try to find a similar pair in raw denim. And if she's taller, make sure the inseam is long enough. I'm limited by lots of brands making smaller sizes with shorter inseams (e.g.Railcar).

I've been a long-time lurker to this thread and notice a lot of guys buy their ladies denim and then complain they never wear them - it's probably because sometimes the fit is a bit awkward. Boyfriend fit is one thing, but most women aren't trying to have their backside look like a deflated balloon. Also, I don't think it's wise to get a gal the gift of raw denim that is too tight and they have to wear around the house unbuttoned for two weeks. (Not a fun introduction.)

I wear Naked & Famous selvedge indidgo Leggy/Straight in the winter. Acne Hep Raw in the summer. I know some ladies think these are lame, but they both fit well for my body type. I once got a pair or APCs and I thought my husband was going to divorce me. Huge gangly pockets, flattened pancake butt. I wanted to be super cool and super raw, but gave them to Goodwill to save my marriage.

Us bubble butts looking to show off our assets usually have to go with a brand that makes raw denim in a true women's cut. Good luck!

Thanks! I've been double cuffing them now for wearing with my new boots. I think it's a little more appropriate for that shoe.

These jeans were pretty tight when I first got them (but I could always button them) but now they are super comfortable, and were already pretty comfortable maybe about 2 weeks in. I agree on not feeling limited by "lame" brands-- you have to go with what fits. I too tried on APC and it was literally a disaster D: My bf discouraged me from even seeing how they would turn out because he knew judging from my body type that they would stretch horribly and be saggy everywhere. My N&F have been amazing in stretch recovery--much recommended for those looking for a women's cut because it will actually get on your body to start with :P

Worn pretty much every day since 12/31/12. No soaks or washes yet.

I've had those dunks for forever! Waiting on a new short Frye boot in the mail that hopefully my cuffs will fit over :)

  12. You're welcome! They might be a little tough to find since they are new releases. I found this website that seems to have more sizes available, but yeah it might be a waiting game because who knows how many they produced on their first run: http://www.dutildenim.com/products/naked-famous-the-straight-in-stretch-selvedge.

I don't know any stores in Vegas but I would try any high-end stores like Barney's or Bloomingdale's. Good luck! I feel like the hardest part of it for us curvier women is that it's tough to make a call without trying them on. Like I'm already planning my next pair (maybe will do a PBJ contest against my bf lol) but I am wary of it because I wouldn't be able to try them on ahead of time most likely (I live in Central Illinois). Good news is, once you find a pair that fits and molds to your body, you have a better chance of pulling off measurements from it that will actually help you buy online. Don't give up--the feeling of wearing raw denim is totally worth finding the right pair.

  13. Yupitsme, I had exactly the same problem--I have a very low waist-to-hip ratio (very wide, curvy hips) but wanted to get into raw denim as my very slender, tall boyfriend is really into it. I usually wear sizes ranging from 28-29 in regular jeans.

We were in LA visiting his family over the holidays so he brought me to the APC store first (which is where he got his first two pairs), which was kind of a horrible experience seeing as those jeans seem to be straighter cut. They look awesome on slender men and women with straight hips, but I couldn't fit into anything close to my normal size and just barely squeezed into a size 33 (they looked awful!).

Not to be discouraged, we paid a visit to the American Rag Cie down the street from SELA (wanted as wide a selection as possible both in fits and in price, wasn't looking to spend more than $200 on my first pair of raws). I tried on a pair of Naked and Famous "The Straight" Stretch Selvedge first and honestly, I tried on a bunch of other jeans following including Railcar, Nudies and Raleigh Denim and found that these fit my body shape the best. The stretch is very slight which I liked since that's normally a big pet peeve of mine but it made it fit over my curves. I have to say they were REALLY tight when I bought them but now that I've worn them every day for about a month they fit pretty comfortably with no muffin top and they haven't stretched out too much. I love them and I want to live in them :3

They have them on Tate and Yoko if you want to check them out. I got them in a size 31, which I thought odd since I feel like people say to size down in raw denim, but I wouldn't have gone smaller in retrospect. I wish I had some fit pics--when I visit my bf in a couple of weekends I can get some so you can see how they look. Good luck, hope this helps a little!

I got this pair of dark brown Veronica Slouch Frye boots from the boy for Christmas...here they are in the California sun getting some sand/salt wear a couple of days after a hike in Joshua Tree. They are already changing color and getting some usage marks, especially the insides of my heels where I always kick myself when I walk. I know Fryes tend to run large but I actually sized up from my usual size 6.5 to a 7.5. I seriously want to live in these boots.
