  1. What does everyone do here for carrying a phone or whatever you use to track your run? I only just started using my phone a few weeks ago (previously I just timed with a watch and used Mapmyrun) and I'm pretty sick of carrying it in my hand.

  2. Completely new to running, not really sure where to start? I have a route mapped out that will be good (I think), I'm just not sure where to begin. I don't have any clothes/shoes catered to running or working out, so I'd like to pretty much start fresh there with nice stuff if possible. Included in that are accessories, I don't have anything for water or anything, I have one bottle with a sealable lid but I'm pretty sure its too large and clunky to run with. Also, what's the best time to run, and should I run before or after eating? For clarification I live in Texas, so I'll be running in high temps.

Don't start by buying expensive things. Get a decent pair of shoes and a pair of shorts then see how it goes for you. You can always buy nicer stuff later. Accessory wise you don't need much, if you have a smart phone you can time/track your run with that. If you prefer, buy a basic Timex Ironman watch. Don't worry about water on a run until you get to much longer distances. Regarding when to run, what to eat, what to drink, etc. that's pretty subjective so just start running and see when you feel good and when you don't. Good luck!

  3. Spending the semester abroad in Spain. So far it's been great but school is definitely a lot different here -- my GPA will be taking a hit. Also, I'm living with two guys in a small room in a host stay and it's taking it's toll. I don't think I've slept a complete night without waking up at least once during the night in weeks here. Not sure what it is exactly but I'm getting exhausted.

Also, having roommates who are late risers and overall pretty unproductive is not very conducive to doing anything.

  4. If you find the G2 .5 too inky I'd suggest getting something that's not a gel pen. I've got one at work and don't find it to be that inky personally. It seems to dry very quickly.

A few months ago I told my assistant very specifically to order me some Pilot G2 .5s and she ordered the 1.0s. They were terrible and I had to give them all away. I prefer the B2P to the G2 as well although the ink cartridge is the same as the G2.

It dries pretty quickly but I still find myself accidentally smearing it occasionally, sometimes when I go between pages too quickly. I may have only used crappy non gel pens but I can't stand getting the ink going when I first start writing. Maybe it's just a symptom of bad pens as I said.
