  1. Maybe I just don't understand production (and also maybe I'm just a bitter 6'4" dude) but I can't for the life of me understand why they don't just get a few pairs of longs in New Ways and Slim Dungarees every other restock they do on the standard sizing.

  2. Any budget recommendations? North Face Horizon looks decent but can't find pictures of them actually being worn anywhere

I ended up going with some TAD pants, but some cheaper options (at least that go on sale or have coupons often) I also liked are Prana Zion and First Ascent Mountain Guide Pro.

  3. I'm strongly considering picking up a type 3. I have 2 Flat Head shirts in size 40 that fit well, should I go with a medium or size up to large?

I can't speak to the sizing of Flat Head's shirts, but I wear a 40 in suiting and a lot of other shirts and I needed an XL in the Type 3s. I'm usually in between medium and large in jackets and even the large Type 3s was way too uncomfortable in the shoulders. Even the XL was a bit tight a first -- it's loosened considerably but I still don't think there's any way I could've made a large work.

  4. Anyone else finding the shoulders on the type 3 to be restrictive? Part of the breaking in process or an oopsie on me? Sized up to my first ever XL clothing article and everything is good but the shoulders are rather tight. Not sure if it's how the jacket is constructed or the fit was just a tad smaller than what I needed.

FWIW I'm in the same boat as you -- first XL in anything. I wore it probably 10-11 hours since picking it up yesterday morning and I'm already noticing it starting to loosen just a tad.

I emailed their info@3sixteen email a while back when I was on the lookout for L's / XL's to try on in-person and got this back in regards to stretching:

"The jacket will stretch mostly in the arms and across the upper back, but it really depends on your body shape and where the jacket fits you tightly."

I'm guessing the upper back loosening up will alleviate most of the issues with the shoulders, although in my experience denim jackets in general are cut to be a bit tight in the shoulders if you want them fitted.

  5. Yes (assuming the particular outlier pant you want is in stock)

This is becoming more and more annoying and has driven me away from Outlier slightly over the past few months. I understand they're bootstrapped and yada, yada, yada; but at some point, if you never have even your core products in stock, your customers are going to spend their money elsewhere. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just a little more transparent and weren't paranoid about talking about upcoming releases.

  6. Anybody got experience with DSPTCH Daypack please? Is it worth the money? There are some similar looking packs that are a lot cheaper. Any better suggestions around this price point?

I love mine. I've carried it every day for the last year and have taken it on several cross-country trips as my only bag. It's a bit heavy, but it also feels bombproof and still looks more or less new.

I know they've updated it and made a few small tweaks since I got one and as far as I know they fixed the only complaint I had - which was the zippered pocket inside the front compartment which was a bit hard to access. It's not a huge thing, but it was slightly annoying so it's nice they've fixed it.

  7. Any recs for tailors? It's kind of one of those things where there's so many it's hard to choose one. I'm in Silverlake, so I'd prefer someone not too far away.

Anything in particular to do while in Palm Springs? I've never been.

I may book a weekend stay at Riveria/Ace this summer, any cool places to see beside the hotel pool?

If you go while it's hot you probably won't wanna be too far from the pool for long. Ha.

  8. I'm honestly not super impressed by most of Outlier's backpacks. Maybe it's just not having used them, but for any serious travel or day to day use, I'm not convinced they could carry a decent load comfortably given their lack of structure. The new one looks like a pain in the ass to access on the move, as well.

  9. any suggestions on a ~25L backpack for travelling/backpacking? I bought one today but realized I want one with more "structure" rather than one that ends up like an empty sack if it's not full. reason being I'm worried about my camera getting tossed and slammed around if the bag is too billowy.

also other requirements would be sternum and hip strap as well as side water bottle holders

DSPTCH's daypack fits the bill minus the exterior water bottle pocket. I've carried mine daily for about 6 months now, I love it.

  10. Tried so hard to justify keeping the mojave bc I liked the fabric but I ended up returning it bc of the fit. I always end up returning or selling every outlier shirt I buy -- with the exception of the merino t-shirts, their shirts always have a boxy and just shit fit in general. Too short where i could use more length and too long elsewhere.

I find that they're a bit inconsistent and the pivot sleeve can make the bottoms fit a little wonky sometimes.

That said, the prototype merino/organic cotton shirt they put out a couple weeks ago is a fantastic shirt. The material is amazing. I haven't fully put it through it's paces so far, but my Merino/Co's stay in the closet most of the year (SoCal probz), where this one is a perfect weight. I imagine it'll be just fine year round with the exception of random heat waves.

  11. I've got fit pics of the PBJ indigo 13s if interested.

Does anybody have any experience with Rogue Territory's SK? They've got a black warp tonal

    and stealth black

I have a pair of the Stealth SK's I've been wearing for about a month straight. I really like them aside from the aforementioned leg opening -- can't really figure out why an 8" leg opening on a pair of 33 waist 'skinny' (their description, not mine) jeans is a thing. They also stretched a bit more than I expected as well, so they don't really fit in the waist anymore without a belt.
