Aside from that, I have a question. I recently bought a Visvim Slim Chino from the new season. I wear size 1 for all my high/higher water chinos and chino shorts, and also W30 for Social Sculpture. But I could barely button the Slim Chino full, I literally have to fight with the pants to get it buttoned up. The thigh areas are also very tight. Other than that the length is perfect and cutting below the knee is good. I'm wondering if I should sell this pair and get a size 2 (or continue wearing it and hope that it stretches), but I am worried it would be too big or long (since I don't plan to fold it, that would defeat the purpose of high water. I'm also avoiding the tailor if possible).

 

Any opinions?

The chinos changed in sizing starting in FW16. Everything that used to be a size 1 is now a size 2, etc etc. I can't really remember what the explanation was (one of the dudes from Vis mentioned it at a trunk show) but either way, I think you'd be better off getting a size up.

I find the pastoral shorts to fit on the big side, so I would say a size 2 should fit you fine. Actually, I had a size 2 in one pair and they were even a bit too big and I normally wear a 34 in the denim and a 2 in the chino trousers.

Yea, some of the outerwear is really cool. I really liked the new Kobuk corduroy jacket and the YD canvas on the travail was even cooler than I thought it was going to be. Also, thought I would make note that the high water chinos this season have changed size-wise. They graded the pattern and now a size 2 fits like a 1, size 3 fits like a 2, and so on. Not sure if the standard chinos are the same or if any other pants/trousers are this way but thought the info might be useful. 

Also wanted the new Wally shirt but holy crap is that thing thick (and a little scratchy)! It was like wearing a jacket. The black elk gingham one was a much better weight and much softer.

Looking to buy a Mies coat, size 3 as well as Brigadier size 12. 

Those are the Huron moc folk. One is with the mesh on the toe and suede on the quarter/heel, another with suede toe (with triangle perforated details) with crackled leather. I'm not 100% on this but I believe the second version of the Huron is metallic where the crackled leather is. 

Whats the sanjuro in picture 4. Whats the fabrication, is it tweed?  Anyone have a price on it.

That's the Dotera coat in navy wool stripe and will be around 2G while the silk version will be 4 and the harris tweed in silk will be a little over 4 as well.

I agree with you Ruco, that there are some good fabrics in the trousers this season. I actually really like the pastoral pants this time which feature a printed moleskin with a irregular broken stripe.

For some reason I am a little turned off by the new Zermatt boot, it just looks off to me. I can appreciate that it's a bit more simplified but the last looks huge to me and it just looks clunky. Wish the Brig would stay in the line at all times, it's definitely my favorite Vis boot. There is the Blackfoot boot which looks pretty cool with the fabric inlay at the heel. Pretty much looks like the Brigs but with a moc toe and some little fringe.

The collection is pretty cool this season. Lot's of really amazing fabrics and the price tags to go along with them. But I really like all the colors this season with muted oranges, reds, and greens. The orange on that puffer jacket can also be found in the Iris liner this season and it looks really good. Also the plaid shirting is pretty strong with some new check prints and gingham and the long rider has some knit insert panels (shirt in second pic) which is interesting. The only slight let down for me is the footwear collection and while there is some good stuff in there, it's missing a lot of the boots I typically enjoy. But there are a few new runner silhouettes, one being made of a wavy mesh fabric on the toe which is fantastic and the other is way more tech-y looking runner with multi panels (in leather/suede and smaller mesh) along with a suede fringe panel wrapping around the collar and a brand new, free-esque outsole. Over all, there are some very covetable items with some good updates to the classics as well as some new pieces which feel really fresh.

I actually prefer the less-streetwear Visvim. The brand has softened up a bit and it seems as though Hiroki is having a lot more fun creating and experimenting especially when it comes to new and unique fabrics or dye techniques. Also, the kitschiness of the designs is one of the more endearing parts of the collections for me. It's not something I always buy but I really enjoy looking at those pieces. And when there's a good one, say, like the aloha duke shirts from SS15, I'm all for it. 

Like you said above Stad, I too tend to gravitate toward the more low key items save for a fun piece here or there. But I would be lying if I didn't say I was tempted by things like the hand drawn coverall from this AW season or the skagway with patches. 

There are still so many cool pieces in each collection and I am always stoked to wear the pieces I have each and every day.

The shirt is made up of two parts, first the front striped section is a typical shirting fabric and the rest of the shirt is made of cotton jersey, the same as the t-shirts. Also the sleeve as cuffs like a button down with working buttons.

Wondering what the hell these boots are. They kind of look like the brigadier, what with the dainite sole and the fabric wrapped heel but they feature a back heel panel and what looks like a toe cap. Don't remember seeing these in the look book so I'm a bit curious.
