  1. Finally decided to put through an order with Rancourt for some 5-eye moccasin boots in repello suede. I've had a few pairs of Quoddys for 3 - 4 years now and all 3 are going to need a little work (restitch or resole) soon, so I figured I should have some casual mocs that I can wear when all 3 of these are back in Maine getting tuned up. My wife has a pair of their boat shoes that I managed to get for her on eBay, brand new, for $30 shipped, and they are super well made, so I'm looking forward to getting my own, even if they cost more than 10x as much as hers. Will post pics when they come in in a few weeks.

From what I hear rancourt construction is piss poor. You might wanna spend the little bit extra for a quality brand

  2. Hating on oakstreets people when you have no clue what your saying.. Moc construction uses no welt. And trench boots and the trench Oxford are amazing.

Also I'm baffled no one really mentions nicks. I've owned oakstreet, viberg, nicks, whites, alden, road champs, Santa rosa by zip, red wings, guidi, M.A+,

I put viberg as most overhyped and overpriced.. While the edge finish is nice and I like stitch down construction, I don't feel any thing sets them apart. And nicks I put at the top. The finish could be a bit cleaner but is made up for by the most robust and solidly built boot I've ever handled. Words won't do them justice. And for the price of around 450, 550 for horse plus extras , the value is relatively off the charts.

  3. ^^ don't blame Brian for that. Haha. It was 100% my call. I respect your opinion, I like it though, you can't find an alden shell boot plain toe with any natural sole let alone one that thick. I really don't like the bubble toe of the trubalance last and I feel the flatter toe looks good.
