  1. Nice review  ...do the buttons feel cheap and fragile?? sorry it bugs the crap out of me, they want to compete with top brands and they cant even have decent buttons on their 14.5 oz's

The buttons don't feel as good as they look, but they're secured on well. It takes a lot to get a button to fall off (someone I know who had a pair of the 14.5oz line lost his top button early on, but that may have just been a defective pair). They've upgraded all of the components from the 14.5oz line, there's no doubt about that, so you shouldn't worry all too much about shoddy construction.

  2. I doubt they're competing with anything obtainable from Self Edge. They're aiming towards providing selvage to those who aren't sure whether they're into it or not. The 21 oz release came out just in time for those who are dedicated to the selvage game, and I think their 21 oz release is trying to get some hold of the self edge market. Unbranded probably knows they won't be able to hook a majority of current SE customers, but rather gain customers who are aiming to upgrade from lower end brands to heavier denim.

I'm not sure if I can say that Unbranded jeans are inferior to N&F, since the cut&design are virtually the same and both companies are owned by the same person (Brandon Svarc). I've had my UB101's for 2.5 years without losing any buttons or belt loops, but each person wears their jeans differently so there can't be declarative statements made there.

  3. How's the construction on the new 21 oz's?

yeah i would really like to know about this as well? anybody with them can they comment on it? buttons? stitching? the denim?

The stitching around the top most button seems more sparse than it should be. I can see gaps where there should be stitching but there isn't. Maybe their sewing machine wasn't able to punch through the denim well enough, since that area is the thickest due to the layering to get the buttons to go through. The leather patch's edges aren't completely smooth but rather fuzzy, which is a sign of inferior leather production. The sewing around the button holes are lacking (probably for the same reason as the threads skipping) which makes it easy for the denim to fray when repeatedly buttoning and unbuttoning.

Other than that, they're pretty sturdy. The construction is comparable to their old 14.5oz line, but it's easy to notice they had trouble with their needles.

  4. I am looking at getting a pair of 15 oz tapered. I wear a 34-34 in nudie grim tims. Should I size down one or get TTS?

I'd suggest sizing 1 up, but if you think you can manage the pain get TTS. I had to size 1 up and they were still super tight on the waist... so tight that I hurt my thumbs buttoning them.

I ordered mine on the 28th of December from Blue Owl Workshop and they shipped the next day with Priority Shipping. I suppose I got lucky. They're size 30 UB121's.

I find them to be a bit lighter in color than the original 14.5 oz cuts, but the LHT is a nice bonus.
