  1. Yea the fabric feels and looks really cool, although it was much softer and thinner than i expected, 18oz i thought would be really thick but guess not.

I'm wearing a pair of these right now. They are thicker than my 15 oz deep indigo N&F. 15 to 18 oz isn't that big of a difference. You most likely think the denim feels thin because of this but also because it is so irregular and slubby. Just wait until summer and see how thin you think it is. I did an initial soak and I had more startch come out of these jeans than any other pair I have ever soaked. I was quite surprised. It is soft but denim like this is NOT going to get sharp creases and drastic fades--it will be more of a vintage look without high contrast. :)

  2. I prefer to keep my phone in my front pocket and really like phone fades on denim. In the same pocket, I keep a pen and get a pen fade as well. I keep my card case, chapstick, and keys in my other front pocket, which all produce fades. I like front pocket fades and prefer them to back pocket fades. I enjoying being able to look down and see the progress. Also, even just a couple mm in one's back pocket can create a change in her or his posture, which is obviously unhealthy for the body.

  3. Maus, 22 inch thighs are not big at all. You should be fine. Why not check out a size chart to make sure, a size 31 is what you want, though? If you go to Context's site you can find the charts there.

  4. Please explain?

When you take your jeans off for the night, get some thick pens and jam them through the the button holes. If the pens are thick enough, they'll stretch the denim and it will make buttoning up your fly much easier. If you don't have wide pens, put a couple or few normal size pens in each. This will make it much easier to button up the jeans and will save your fingers. I've had my fingers ripped up and bruised before by a pair of heavy weights. The denim was just too stiff to get the buttons through and using the pens for a couple of nights in a row really helped.

  5. Nice fit, Bokkepoot. Did you get those hemmed?

With heavy denim like that, I like to put pens in the botton holes over night to stretch them out a little. It really saves your fingers from getting beaten up when buttoning and unbuttoning the fly.

  6. The above two posts is why the APC denim thread continues to have disagreements about sizing. Sizing down by four vs sizing down by two. Some people do use TTS to imply that the marked waist size is congruent with the measurements in inches; however, all the denimheads I've ever spoken to use TTS to mean that one buys her/his normal denim size. The latter definition is often used when discussing chino and trouser size as well. Both are technically correct, but, IMHO and IME, the latter is used most often. Though, one will see the definition flctuate between forums. Perhaps SuFu-er's tend to prefer the former definition?

  7. TTS is actually a sz 31 waist tagged that measures 31"

Wrong. Most brands are vanity sized by two inches. I wear a 32 in most denim. I bought my BJxNF in size 32 for my waist that measures 33.5 inches around where my jeans sit. A 32 measures out to be 34" and I like the .5" of extra room. Because I wear 32's in most brands, have a 33.5" waist and the denim has a 34" waist, and N&F denim is sized TTS (with a few exceptions such as the LHT), I bought my BJxNF TTS.

  8. bsjhonson, a size 31 jean will most often measure to be 33". If lwmmm has a 31" waist, then he would be a size 29 in most jeans and he would be swimming in a size 31 (aka 33" waist). Therefore, the 29 N&F should fit his 31" waist perfectly. Most people would call this buying jeans True To Size (TTS).

  9. I definitely agree when it comes to Blue Owl's measurements. They are spot on! Also, like I said a page or two back, they will even pull a pair of jeans, measure that one particular pair, and send that same pair to you. That way, the chance of variation is gone and you know the exact measurements down to the tenth.

    Edit:

Blue Owl's measurements are wrong. my friend bought a size 31 in the elephants, expecting a 33 in the waist. Definitely wasn't the case.

Perhaps your friend wears size 33 jeans, which would have a waist of 35" and bought size 31, which would have a waist of 33". I wish people would measure their waist and thighs, and choose their size based on that rather than the sizes of their other jeans/pants.

  10. It is a pretty awesome selvedge line. The BJxNF jeans are only 14oz, the denim is softening up quickly (compared to the heavier, more rigid denim I was wearing), and I bought them TTS so they're comfortable, not skin tight. These three factors have made them really nice to wear in the summer. It's been in the 100's here lately (Maryland). I just decided that I was tired of staring at them and needed to start wearing them. I can't wait to see the evolution on these as I think it's going to be awesome.

Side note: I am currently wearing these with a cuff that falls right above my ankle bone. I cannot wear jeans that are stacked in the summer; Otherwise, I will melt. The little bit of breeze on my ankles makes a huge difference.

jlaz93, how noticeable is the fading on your BJxNF's? Is it significant enough to capture with a camera or only with your naked eye? I've been thinking this denim might fade slowly due to how soft it is, but maybe not.

  11. Just a little teaser pic of my BJxNF collabs. I have eight days of wear on these. The denim is very beautiful and hairy. There is a slight bit of electric blue beginning to show.

I don't think the selvedge line of the KD8 denim has been posted here, so I thought I'd post a pic of that as well. They're cuffed about three or four times in this pic because I'm currently at my parents' farm and have been running around barefoot. Stacks don't work well without shoes.

  12. Blue Owl's measurements are usually spot on. That is my favorite place to do business as Jay is awesome to deal with and the measurements have always been correct IME. You can always have him measure an individual pair for you as well, to make sure you know the measurements down to the tenth of inch or cm of the pair that you will be receiving. Perhaps you measured yourself incorrectly? With my first N&F's, I measured myself and then sized down like everyone on the forums (SuFu and SF) said. I only sized down on and couldn't even get the bottom button done. I wear my both of my Weird Guys TTS and they're perfect right from the start!

  13. Blackmaged, Oni is producing the jeans in their facility but the jeans are constructed according to N&F's measurements. So, you get the denim and quality production that Oni is known for, and N&F's weird guy cut/dimensions.

  14. just got a pair of Weird guys in black.. the waist is tight but bareable, but the thighs are tight.. does anyone know the size diff between 31 and 32 in the thigh?

    will the thighs stretch much?

The difference in thigh between size 31 and size 32 is only .5". The thighs do not stretch very much at all. I have N&F's in 31 and 32. I thought the 31's would stretch but I never got any extra room and they do shrink back to original size when washed/soaked. I still wear them but the 32's are perfect. BTW, I have 24" thighs and the 32's fit very well with just enough room to be comfortable!

If you can, order a pair in size 32 and send back the size that you don't like.
