  1. Are those Martin Margielas? Love how you're not afraid to stain them. :-)

They are the original GATs the MMs are modeled on. :-)

    How many months/washes? Cheers...

  2. First of all, these look great. Secondly, what jacket is that?

Hi Jake! The jacket is from All Saints, 2011 season. A bit like the one that can be found here:(http://www.allsaints.com/men/outerwe...vanity-jacket/)

    3wV3X.jpg

but with horizontal, instead of criss-cross stitching, and without the goofy collar.. It looks/fits great, but, as with all AllSaints clothing, there are a few drawbacks, most notably, the inside sucks a ton of lint off whatever top you're wearing, and the buttons un-pop way, way too easily. It's also way too expensive for what it is (I picked up mine for £50 in the sale, and wouldn't have paid any more than that). But I'd recommend it in terms of style. Nice, light jacket for Fall/Summer. I'm 5'9/127 and wear an XS. the colour is 'ink', and is a dark navy - goes with almost anything. Works surprisingly well over a shirt and tie, too.

    Hope this helps!

People that size down from their true waste size telling people that size down from their tagged size that they "can't possibly be getting that much stretch"

And people who size down from their tagged size telling people that size down from their true waste that they need to size down more.

I sized down five with my NS. I'm a true 31' waist, and picked up a 26. They were TIGHT for 3 weeks, but after that, they've been the best pair of jeans I've ever owned, and will continue to be for 3,4 years. Good trade, I'd say?

The problem arises when people say 'yeah, but if you want a tight fit, just get a PS'. This is fair, but if you're like me, and don't like the more tapered legs, watcha gonna do? Pick up some NS of course. And talking as somebody who sized down five, they DO stretch, and NEVER STOP STRETCHING.

I'm not saying this is the way everybody should go, but if you fit into the category of the text I've bolded above, pick up some NS, sized five down.

  3. they are a tagged 26, my true waist is 31, maybe 32 for a few months after christmas ;)

don't be afraid to size down, they stretch and don't stop stretching.

  4. So just gonna post a few requests I've had in here for shots of back/front outside, in direct sunlight and crotch area. That's it for now - take it easy and peace, everyone! :)

  5. ..........

I don't know, man. I sized down 3-4 and after a month of some serious work I said enough is enough. Maybe there was still some stretch left in them but, seriously, what's the point in killing yourself to get the look you can have immediately by buying one size down or going TTS?
A lot of people here will say 'well . . . if you want a slim jean, you should have just gone for the Petite Standard!'. This is a flawed school of thought, because the petite standard are a totally different cut; far more tapered. If you want a straighter leg, slim jean, and are willing to put the effort in over a few months, this is what they'll look like.
  6. 3. Your jeans sit on your hips ( judging from the last pic ).)

    Haha yah.

    I don't sag them. I'm not 14 :P

I just pulled them down slightly to take a clear picture of the tape.

  7. I mean, I guess it's possible, but since nearly every good fit in this entire thread sized down between 1-3, I don't think encouraging more than that is a very useful suggestion for most.

This is precisely why I have made sure to state that if people are willing to put in the effort, they will end up with a fit similar to mine. I do not mean to suggest that this is the normal way of doing things. If I have come across that way, I appologise. Certainly, people should wily enough to make their own decisions Re their sizing preferences. Take mine, then, as an alternative?

cxbxw could we see a shot of the cross stitch/crotch bartack area?

Do you mean the side of the jeans?

i find it hard to believe someone actually sized down 6, obvious trolling is obvious.

Okay, okay, I rise to the bait.

Here is my pair of Size 26 APC New Standard's with a tape measure across the top. As you can see, they actually measure just over 16.5'', and so, 33 inches.

    o6ucr.jpg

Here, we see me actually wearing the jeans, and, measuring where they sit, voila! 33 (and a bit) inches. *** Apologies for excessive crotch shot***

    u8Xf6.jpg

So, please, if you would like a 'skinny' pair of New Standard's, without the taper of the Petite Standard, don't be afraid to size down a lot. It's not common practice (and I never suggested it was) - I just mean .. it's doable.

  8. Seriously best NS fit I've seen period mate. I agree about your " PS vs NS comment". I've tried sizing down 3 and it was still a loose-ish fit below the knee, while the thigh was just right. Thinking of sizing down 4 (34 to 30) this would give me a smaller leg opening, which I'm looking for but the thighs would be a concern. Would they strech 1.25 inches assuming Context Clothing's measurements are correct?

Context's sizing guide is notoriously incorrect. Your best bet is to call them. But yes, the thighs will stretch a moderate amount. Remember, these jeans will continue to stretch for probably the first 7 months of wear. Just very stretchy denim.

And to the poster above - 25 is the smallest size. Sorry bro! :)

  9. Just to reiterate: I sized down 6.

    My waist measures 32 1/2

I am a 30 in Nudie Jeans (dry denim).

These are a size 26 APC NS.

Here are a couple more shots which show, clearly, how they fit.

My advice would be: don't be scared to size down a hell of a lot. APC Jeans stretch when you buy them, stretch a lot in the first 60 or so days, and continue to stretch all the while you've got them. Then, when you wash them, they shrink, but stretch right back out again as long as you pop them on when damp for a couple of hours.

Don't be afraid to size down. I said it when I arrived here, and I say it now, reputation be damned! :-)

  10. I dont know if I necessarily agree. Washing your jeans strengthens them by getting rid of the sweat and bacteria that speeds up the breaking down process of the cotton. My apcs look pretty similar to yours and I just gave them a cold handwash with some dr. bronners. Definitely changed up the texture for the first week, but color wise it didn't do much, except lighten up the faded areas a bit. No harm done in my eyes, and now my jeans smell nice and minty.

Thanks for the advice, GSA! I might wait another month or two . .

  11. I should probably clear things up: I am not 'popping my collar' haha! Just an old polo with a shitty collar that needs changing. :)

    @cxbxw

Those are a killer fit man, much like I'm after.

Reckon you might be slightly slimmer than me, but what tagged size did you buy against your true waist?

    Thanks! These are a 26. I'm a slim guy.

How is your waist? Can you button it up all the way now?

Yeah, I could button all the way up at 3/4 days of wear. Now they fit perfectly, just 'hugging' the waist, sitting nicely.

  12. Yeah I'm thinking of getting some PS ..

Although at the moment I'm down 150 so need to get rid of these first. But before I got this I actually tried my friend's stretched out 25 NS that's why I ordered it. But yeah seems like the variations in different pants got me..

Basically, it's all down to whether you want your jeans to taper below the knee. If you do, get a PS, but if you prefer a slimmer jean which maintains it's straight leg all the way down, stick with the NS; regardless of your sizing down, they WILL be fine. Mine have stretched out perfectly, button easily and look awesome. So yeah, up to you. But don't let these 'SoOPERFYOOTUREZ#~' people try to tell you there is a 'correct' way to wear your jeans; whatever fit you choose, it'll be great.

  13. You guys are seriously over exaggerating. All I did was poke a bit of fun because I took a chance experimenting with size which, for me, worked out great!

No need for hate; people should get over themselves.

  14. So it's pretty obvious at this point that I was, in fact, correct, and you should size down 4 or 5 for a pair of New Standard's.

I suppose it's fitting that Superfuture can kiss my New Standard clad ass. :-)

  15. My first instinct is to give you shit for that thing, whatever it is, in your front pocket but I'm sure you'll respond with the typical like "It's too uncomfortable to put in my back pocket...I can't sit on it" etc... Whatever I still think it's wrong. Nay, I think it's the ugliest thing in the world when someone puts a cell phone in the front pocket of snug jeans...there I said it..THE U G L I E S T thing in the world!! Why do people put things in front pockets?? yuck yuck yuck!

    Lol.

It's where I always keep my phone for ease of use; put it there without thinking. Which is surely the fundamental premise behind fades; that they reflect your lifestyle.
