  1. For years I've washed with straight water, I wonder does anyone have experience w/ Woolite Dark? and does it have any softeners? that's the main reason why i don't use detergents.

I've used Woolite Dark in the past and IMO is one of the better detergents out there. Not sure about the softeners as my denim was still fairly rigid afterward, but there was comparably less indigo loss (though I know this will happen regardless).

  2. yeah looks real nice! interesting article on denim storage! might consider building a rail like that!

thanks! funny that you mention that particular article. we just got our first piece of hater mail on that topic!

  3. Superfuturians --

As some of you may know Ande Whall was severely affected by the Christchurch earthquake earlier this year - so much so that he's had to shut down his operations. In an effort to help Ande and of course bring some more attention to his fine products (not that he needs it!), we also recently did a post on him and his brand.

After making our donation last week, we reached out to Ande to see how things are going. He's still hunting around for machines and getting raw materials in order, but he has been able to procure an old Singer bar tack machine for a good price.

If you can spare $20.00, do your part and send it Ande's way!

  4. Pretty cool stuff, thanks for sharing.

    Thanks Robbie! Appreciated

Good luck with the site. What did you use to build it?

(I'm looking for a good, clean blog template for something entirely unconnected with denim, preferably on Wordpress, preferably with a pictorial index).

Thanks Paul - I used wordpress and would recommend going with their platform. Quite user friendly and their massive amount of plugins take care a lot of the work for you. You might have to do some customization but that shouldn't be too difficult.

it looks like more of a blog and less like a type website. best of luck.

Thanks DEP for the feedback - yeah it is currently set up like a blog but we're hoping to add on some additional features in a more web application format later.

  5. Superfuturians -

I recently started a raw denim site that I was hoping I could ask for your feedback on.

The blog/site is called Rawr Denim - (www.rawrdenim.com) and the mission is to serve as a complete source of raw denim information, including trends, care guides, background info, etc. In the future we plan to roll out other scalable features (e.g. brand-specific info)

There's a couple reasons why I chose to start Rawr Denim. One, is that it's a passion project. I have a huge interest in raw denim and find it cathartic to catalog to findings, happenings, info, etc. in one spot. I also wanted to just build a site on something I have a strong interest in. Second, while Rawr Denim is not trying to be SuperFuture, Denim Debate, Denim Geek, Denim Archive, etc. (all are heavyweights in the online world of raw denim and provide a ton of value), I found it difficult over the years to find the information I needed. I hope to build Rawr Denim can help solve that problem.

However, I'm not a denim expert by any means and would love to receive any feedback you guys could offer up. Hate the logo, tagline, layout, general purpose, etc.? Seriously, all brutal constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Thx in advance, look forward to hearing from you all.
