  1. Thanks for the suggestions brane. I was actually just on that forum. Nothing I can find I like. The closest thing is a kifaru e&e but it's too small. I'm 5'11 and 240lbs. That e&e would look like a purse on my back. That 5.11 is getting closer to what I want. I would say thus far that, TAD lightspeed and the goruck gr1 are the only ones on my list. Decisions decisions...

Edit. Just realized the rush dosnt have internal webs. I would have pulled the trigger for a c note. I want open on the inside with webs. I'm a compartment whore...

That really only leaves me with the TAD...

if you're looking for big backpack you should check out some of the double strap messenger bags by chrome or reload. they are usually bigger than most other backpacks since they're designed for messengers. i've got the reload midpack and i love it. it's huge! they're not much for internal pockets, it's usually just a big compartment, but they work well with other small organizing systems like grid-it, etc. definetly not as tactical as the goruck or tad so it still may not be what you're looking for.

  2. dont hate on brane's fanny pack. those things are handy to the max. i'll post some pics of my fanny pack. i dont rock i all the time but it gets heavy use on vacation when i need to carry a few more items than can fit in pockets. mainly the addition of a camera to my usual items. oh and i rock it legit - on the hip.

  3. Who doesn't buy well reviewed and highly respected items?

    Dragonfly

    Quark mini 123

^Items I bought after reading this thread and couldn't be more happy with my purchases. Fit the bill and priced at what I was willing to spend.

^ dude, what gives i totally have a quark and a dragonfly. quit copying. jay slash kay.

  4. got my leaf storm over the weekend. took a little while to get used to (the action is a bit different than my dragonfly and it's a lighter) but so far i'm diggin it. i've seen some negative reviews on the lack of a choil but personally i like it without. especially for food prep it seems to keeps any liquids (say, juice from slicing an apple) further away from the pivot and out of the inside of the knife. not sure if that was the intent or not but wilkins does make a lot of kitchen knives.

the blade stock is super thick and the hollow grind along with high quality steel makes for crazy sharp edge.

  5. ur edc is slowly turning into mine (1)

^ yea sorry :( don't mean to bite but we've got very similar tastes. long lost edc brother? i promise i won't rit dye mine.

also, anyone have any experience with these Lummi Lights?

looks like decent specs for a decent price but haven't heard much about them. (did a search in the thread and couldn't find anything so hopefully this aint a repost)

  6. anyone have any idea what a secure way to carry my quark mini cr2 since the split ring it came with broke (and i almost lost it)?

=/ also i wish there was a way to attach my fisher bullet to my key hook like those sharpie mini's i dont like to pocket carry anything really

i carry my CR2 & a minichamp in my coin pocket. i've lost things before off my keychain and have recently switched to pocket carrying as much as possible. i lost my keyless entry at a bar after sitting on a bench where my fob slipped through a cracks and caught so when i stood up it popped off without me even noticing. then i lost a SAK manager & mutikey after a valet caught the split ring on one of their hooks and bent it open.

  7. updated pocket dump. i'm really liking the SAK tinker deluxe. great to have a pair of pliers in such a small package. although it does make my minichamp feel like a kid's toy now.

    - iphone

    - wallet w/ scrap denim hanky & micro fiber folded inside for cleaning glasses (hanky used mostly as a liner to prevent my back pocket from blowing out)

    - kaweco al-sport fountain pen & worther aluminum clutch pencil in a kaweco sport leather case

    - balicomb from pinoysteel

    - SAK tinker deluxe

    - 4sevens Q123

    - whistle by falling whistles (great cause and super loud whistle)

    - spyderco dragonfly

    - SAK minichamp & 4sevens mini CR2 Ti (both carried in watch pocket)

    - car keys with multi key for house/office/studio

  8. i've been looking to add pliers to my EDC for a while now but didn't want to carry a full-size multi tool (leatherman, etc.). finally decided on the SAK tinker deluxe in black and i'm diggin' it. i don't need heavy duty pliers, just something more than my fingers from time to time. looks great paired with a black quark. i could easily see this turning into my go-to carry:

  9. ^ good looking gear, brane. i like the tinker on the hook. i used to try and keychain everything myself but have lately switched to clips. that way i can go back and forth between pocket carry and keychain depending on what i'm doing/wearing. here's what came to the office with me today: iphone in vaja case, worther clutch pencil, kaweco fountain pen, wallet by property of..., quark CR2 Ti, spyderco dragonfly, keychain w/ multi-key & SAK minichamp, eyeglasses, neuvo wristwatch.

after getting my hands on a quark Ti, i really wish my 123 was Ti as well. hopefully they'll make some more one day.

  10. my bad brane, i have read a couple of your comments about the grittiness but never heard about the whine before. sure enough, proper technique stopped that. never had that problem on my regular.

ive dug through about 75% of the pages in this thread but haven't gotten through them all. srry for being a noob.

  11. just picked up a mini CR2 Ti and a Worther aluminum clutch pencil. so far i'm stoked on both. i'm usually between $50-75 for my edc items. thinking about splurging on a leafstorm though.

anyone else with a Quark Ti notice a significant difference in smoothness of the threads? my regular 123 was pretty much butter right out of the box but the this new one seems really rough.

also, i can hear a high pitch frequency coming out of the light when its on low or med but not high. is this normal? my other quark doesnt make any noise so wasn't sure if it was something with the CR2s. sorry for the super specific questions, just thought i'd see if anyone else had similar issues.

  12. First Step Get a Dremel

    Second Step TEAR SHIT UP.

    Scion Key

Stripped Key in fob: Dremel out a hole for the key.

Key and fob: Together and Apart.

Only problem is that you cant do it inside if you don't have space inside the fob. The key have a big plastic cap on it you can cut that off and reduce the amount of space it takes up.

how old is your scion? my honda element is an '03 and the manual said there was a chip inside the key that has to be present. is that in your setup somewhere? also, how do you attach that to your keychain? it doesnt look like there's any holes once the new key is in there.

  13. wooden pencil means i'm going to get tidbits and shavings all over my paper, hands, desk, chair, carpet...

where can I get a nice ruler from? something aluminum perhaps? professional drafting/architectural ?

check out 'alumicolor' straight edges at any art store or drafting warehouse. simple aluminum with a non stick foam back. they come in all sorts of sizes too.
