  1. I'm trying to piece together catalogs for the early collections of LVC, from 1996-2001, since they hadn't started yet making the hang-tag catalogs.

I figure that the range was small and static in the first three years, just these three jeans models, jacket models, and the one shirt. Dr_Heech & PaulT think this sounds right.

Does anyone have any models besides these from the years 1996-1998? Also, does anyone have any pre-distressed models from this time period. If so I'll update this catalog before sticking it in the "LVC catalogs" thread.

    Don't forget the 1920's 555 201xx

  2. I have a 555 Valencia St pair of these 1971 517's for cheap. If someone wants them P.M me. they are 31x30's from 1999.

fashion before function? no a little function before fashion. i used to wear wrangler's exclusively because they were cheap and tough and dark. but these levis more than replace the wranglers.

  3. let us know how they fit. they appear to sort of flair out and taper in for the waist. but come to think of it, so do my 555 1937 201xx's. i had to wet those and wear em' dry to get them to fit right. after that they were fine.

The fit is great. Here is a pic next to my 555 '37 201xx. The hip on mine does the same thing, yet not as drastic on the 702

  4. Finally received the 702's in the mail today! Looking at the pics, can anyone tell what denim manufacturer this is? It looks a lot like my 1920s 201 from '99 being that it's "grainy" and has a vertical strand appearance throughout the legs (not sure if the pics captured the effect). It's also pretty lightweight.

  5. NIce 201. Did you get them rehemmed?

Yes, they were re-hemmed. I was actually thinking about taking them in to have some of the rise taken up. But after reading this board decided against it... They are hard to wear, because of how loose they are.. Still I love the denim quality and feel.. I think the rise is like 14" or something.. not good for us skinny guys!!

  6. I think they are the same denim - I don't know for certtain, but I've looked at them too. I think when they intoruduced LVC they had just one fabric - then once they dropped the '201' for a 30s 501, started to develop more specific replicas for each year. Not sure when they introduced the 47 but that was definitely a different denim so perhaps around that time. THe doctor might know more, he was buying LVC before me.

Lovely jeans, of course. You could sell those 201 to Eric Clapton, y'know!

Thanks for the reply! Not sure about Eric buying mine... He's a lot taller than me!! I also noticed the back pockets are near identical as well. With the exception of the single stitched arcs on the '37.. Interesting because I believe the newer '37 (501) pockets are bigger...... LVC003.jpg

One side note: I've been wearing the '37s for about a year they have (1) wash and one hot soak.. They are made of the most stubborn denim EVER.. Very slow to show wear... I was hoping the sister '55s would break a lil easier. Guess no such luck though!!

  7. First time poster... 3 year lurker. Had a quick question about the denim on the (2) following pics. Both are early; (10/97 555) LVC. One 1937 201xx and one 1955. Paul, what is the possibility that these (2) pairs are made from the EXACT SAME denim, and the same dying processes? If not, what are the differences? They seem to be identical (denim wise)... Thanks!!
