  1. Self Edge, SF/NY/LA/PDX - updates & info

I want them just for the patch alone. I hope that thing gets used again in the future.
  2. Boots/shoes-Sizing advice

    Rad. Thanks for the help.
  3. Boots/shoes-Sizing advice

I've been thinking of picking up a pair of Quoddy's suede bluchers and I'm curious for any sizing information I can receive. For reference, the various sizes I wear are as follows: Alden trubalance last - 10D Alden aberdeen and leydon lasts - 10.5D Oak Street Bootmakers - 9.5D Allen Edmonds (I think) 7-97 last - 11C (I imagine I could wear a 10.5D however)

I always thought Hipster Runoff was some kind of joke.
  5. Roy. (expurgated edition)

I decided on a pair of 32 RS04's after the 33 RN04's sold out in ten minutes thinking they'd be similar enough to my RN1's. The before soak measurements on selfedge.com were accurate and after a hot soak last night they shrank about two inches in the waist, from about 17 in down to about 15 in, they shrank to a 35 in inseam, and they shrank about .5 in everywhere else. I was worried about the shrinkage in the waist, enough so that I held off on soaking them, but after wearing them around for the last hour I'm sure they'll be fine.
  6. What Are You Wearing Today (Denim Version)

This Quick answer, you can't have your cake and eat it too with that one. Calling someone "a homo" is homophobic, period. (And I do mean to imply all other insults that might be sexist, able-ist, racist, etc. are exactly that. And really, if we want to critique someone's look, we can critique the look without snide jabs at their sex, sexuality, race or whatever.)
  7. SEXDBXS09 Contest Thread

I wasn't a part of the contest, but I wore my pair for around two years. Like jimmyc I'll post a few photos after I get mine back from SE.
  8. Shoes that look better with age...

I bought a pair of their trail oxfords Vinneus was selling not too long ago in a 9.5 under the advice that he and I both wear the same size in our Roy boots (That being a 10D). There's a tiny bit of room at the end of the toe box, but the fit around the ankle is perfect and I haven't experienced any heel slippage. I do tie them fairly tight.
  9. Shoes that look better with age...

I don't think what you're claiming about Context is clear at all. Even one of the owners of Context worked his own pair of Roy boots--which are on display in the link Eltopo provided--over in short order. Are Alden boots generally as burly as other brands? I doubt it, but I think you're greatly underestimating the ability of a working dude to absolutely shred a pair of expensive boots. Edit: Anyway, Eltopo, I think your Roys look killer.
  10. Shoes that look better with age...

RE: Alden Laces The gentleman at Leather Soul in Beverly Hills said they would ship laces when I was there a few months ago. (In case other options don't pan out.) I don't know if their selection of laces was very extensive though.
  11. Oak Street Bootmakers Trail Oxford 9.5

I was looking at buying a pair of these and I'm curious, how do these fit compared to a 10 D on the Barrie/Trubalance last? (Unfortunately, that's my only real frame of reference.)
  12. Shoes that look better with age...

This. Plenty of Red Wings are made in China, but none have such obvious quality issues.
  13. Roy. (expurgated edition)

Oddly, Roy hasn't emailed me about the delivery time yet. I figured the influx of orders was such that he might not know quite how long everything will take. (Oh god, I'm a lurker no more).
