  1. Hi Denimdart,

Your shirt is an early offering of the sunset label from Lvc from spring/summer 2002.

It's called '1922 golf shirt - care repaired'.

They're quite scarce now, so great pick up for £20 i say!

Dr_Heech, thanks for your rapid response! Now I know.

The shirt is very good quality & I like the cream shade of off white too.

Given the shirt a gentle hand wash to freshen up, dried & ironed. Tried it on then, thought a few pics for Superfuture!

  2. Just won this Sunset shirt, advertised as "LVC 1900 SUNSET PATCH MINING SHIRT " for £20 off ebay & thought I would share it with you all.

Any one know which season this came from, as I can't find any reference to it. Pics below ( from the sellers advertisment)

  3. 1950's Wool check shirt jacket

Here is the hanging tag off the above jacket. Label inside jacket dated May 2008. Recent ebay score for £40.

  4. Is the quality really better or is that simply a perceived notion because it has the 555 factor and all that entails - i.e. made in a real Levi's factory in San Francisco and therefore somehow closer to the originals than the current offerings made in outsourced factories?

Well it is a fine line IMO, but my 555 501 1944, compared with my 1954 USA jeans or my 501 1947 made in Turkey, the 555s seem to just have the edge, but it is very subjective.

  5. Got over ambitious on ebay and bid too soon on a pair of 1947 'Broken Down' Jeans.

Pic below along with my 1944 Valencia St jeans which have 9 months wear since a luck score on ebay.

The fit of the 1947 jean is pretty modern. I am impressed with the finish on them, as it seems pretty authentic.

They are at a state where a pare of Mall jeans would start to disintegrate, but of course these are new.

I notice the self edge seam is thinner than on my 44s and 55s.

  6. I have been lurking here for a while & thought I would post my recent LVC ebait purchases. Both bought for £30 each.

This was a 1944 pair, size 36" x 34", from the Levi factory in Valencia St, in 1999.

They have been washed twice & soaked once.

The size has shrunk to 34" waist & 31" length. Hope to loose another 1" on the length at the next soak.
