  1. I attended the (capsule) fashion show today in Paris and saw a black jean made in a 26 ozs broken twill denim. And I was told that a 33 ozs denim is about to be released by Naked and Famous as well.

That would be the ultimate winter in Montreal jean!

Those jeans seem to make your torso look quite long and your legs short. Your image seems out of balance to me.

As a general question, if one has short legs compared to the torso, should one not wear a higher rise pant to balance the look?

Browsing this site a bit I do see an awful lot of short legged images, so maybe this is the style of the moment. But it could also be that some tall men are trying to wear low rise jeans essentially designed and made for short men and this throws a wrench into things.

    Do you have another pic?

  3. How would you guys rank the APC jeans as compared to other Japanese brands (MiJ.)? They sure are easier to buy, no convoluted hoops to jump through to give some one money for them...

  4. I live in Europe where there are no Samurai distributors. Last week I tried to order a jean from Samurai in Japan. They wrote me back to say that I would have to buy through HK or the US, they refused to sell to me. Samurai is not infringing on a Euro distributor by selling to me direct since there is no distribution here. What in the world could they be thinking?

It seems to me that the hoops one has to go through to purchase these Japanese products is amazingly strange (and too expensive.) If I buy a jean in HK or US, I will have paid HK/US customs and then be exposed to Euroland customs on entry here (double tax indenimity.)

How do you Euro guys buy these products?

  5. Thank you for your replies.

I have done quite a bit of research on this forum, but the detail of which jeans are “high rise” is not easy to extract. And then pairing that information with examples of high rise in heavyweight denim (>19 ozs) is another bit of drilling down. So I figured some of you might know this off the top of your heads.

I think there are a lot of guys who like a higher rise on their pants in general and who have difficulty finding them these days. So I suspected it might be of more general interest to many readers and lurkers here. For this reason, I posted the question as a thread and not a small question.

Sugarcane, and McCoys also make high rise, heavy jeans? Which models should I be looking at?

  6. Denim experts,

I am looking for heavyweight Japanese jeans made with a higher rise, like the 55 Levis or Lee 101b.

Can you suggest which makers produce these jeans, and which specific model is high rise, so I might be able to order them?

    Thanks
