  1. kind of a problem, more of an annoyance. the width of the legs on my 47's differ about half an inch. it doesn't bother me on the thigh because i know that eventually it will stretch out. the extra half inch width one leg does bother me because it kind of flares out like a boot cut. oddly enough the hem is the same width.

should i taper the leg? (i kind of wanted to slightly taper from knee to hem anyways) or will it even out after the first wash/second soak?

  2. sorry for the noob questions but which samurai model is the slubbiest..the s0500xx? and which model has the highest contrast fading?

opps...maybe i should be more specific. would the texas cotton be more slubby compared to the japanese cotton because of the short length of its fibers?

  3. Day 10 of wear

How's it looking? I'm considering a soak to get rid of some length and the sheen, but iono. any input?

good fit. get the soak over with now. i waited a month and wish i soaked at the beginning.

  4. I don't mean to rehash an old argument or incite ire, but having worked construction and having friends who still do, I'm just a bit put off that western shirts aren't included herein.

I can appreciate the aesthetic distinction; the fits and cuts are different and the respective histories are distinct, but, today, I bet you would see more western shirts among construction and manual labor folk and their foremen than what here is considered workwear attire. And since the kind of workwear shirts that are posted here are not necessarily all repros, it seems like an arbitrary distinction.

A western shirt is just as often a utility garment designed with function in mind as anything this thread is after.

    +1 for the westerns!

  5. this probably has an obvious answer but...how do i tan my unfinished belt?

just leave it in the sun? haha put some obenaufs and leave it in the sun?

  6. ^^ wow nice.....are they lose the stiffness after the hot soak?

I would like to try it also...the inseam is too long for me...

they are still pretty stiff. they are stacking and creasing just as well as before the soak. i just put my tub to the hottest water possible and left for 30 mins inside out. then i just hung dry. the texture is much rougher, probably because the excess starch is gone.

  7. xpost from question thread

I have a pair of APCs that i've been wearing pretty much everday for the last month so honeycombs and creases have begun to start settling. I've heard of people soaking sanforized when they first get them.

Am i past the point of no return? i kind of want to get some length out of the way.

  8. The other thing is your students are one of the first generations with no exposure to just about anything authentic. A 20 year at this point has been brought up on highly processed food and post-selvedge jeans, post-gas crisis cars. All their music is music that's based on other commercial music as opposed to most pre-1990 music that had some relationship to America's roots music.

    well..that's just depressing

  9. i am a couple of weeks into my 47's and i absolutely love them. almost pulled the trigger on buying another pair just to stash away!

definitely listen Paul T and erk on waiting at least 6 months to buy more pairs. But, looking is OK! hahaha i spend a lot of time looking at different brands i want to buy in the future.

its like having a girlfriend, except your gf is your jeans. its ok to look but not cheat :P

  10. Selling a rare pare of Levi's blue star and LVC 1947's. I have only worn the blue stars two or three times and they have never been soaked or washed. The '47's have only been tried on and has not been soaked or washed either. Both are basically brand new. I am in a hurry right now but I can put up measurements BiG style later if requested.

  11. word from ande is the new denim will stretch ~1" with wear.

so we should size down 1 or stay TTS?

what's up with all these new products. i must be out of the loop.

he is still making jeans with cone denim and black denim jeans?

dubcbadass- how do you like the rise on the grifters? i like a slightly higher than mid rise so i'm debating between the slacker and the grifter.
