  1. Thought I'd point out that the proper term is "vertical fading," not "falling." The confusion probably arose because the Japanese word for fade is "iro ochi," literally "color fall." "tate ochi" literally means "vertical fall," but "vertical fade" captures the spirit of the original term better IMO.

So what you're saying is, there is no proper term, and that's just like your opinion, man.

  2. My girlfriend has a big butt and a small waist. She sometimes wears my old N&F Weird Guys (that are now way too small for me) and there is too much room at the back of the waistline for her. She's forced to wear a belt and the fabric bunches up at the backside. I'd like to get her a raw jean sometime. Are there any designed for curvy women with room in the butt but are tight at the waist?Photo_5.jpg

Probably a year, but I'm not sure. I bought them two summers ago. I've washed them twice in the washing machine with Woolite Dark and once drove around a golf cart in the rain for three hours in them. I hit "Adjust Contrast" in Photoshop.

EDIT: Oh, and I had them hemmed. Looking at the old pictures, I'm pretty pleased with the knee bulge reduction

Worn these New Standards for like three months+. They're not very stiff anymore. What would a hot soak do? I've never soaked them before. Would it shorten the length a little? Or should I just hem them? Should I wait to hem them?

  5. I don't understand why everyone posts progress pictures where they're not even wearing the jeans. They're always on the floor or something. I feel one of the main draws of raw denim is the conformation to the body. The reason I got into this is because I couldn't find jeans that fit my strange hips correctly. Yeah, sure, you got some SIKK FADEZ brah, but I want to see how your denim has fit to your body.

Just bought this jacket at the Gap for 40 bucks. Knee bulges are HNGGGGG. New Standards are sized down 4 (I'm a 34 waist and the tag says 30). Probably around two months.

  7. Isn't sizing down 3 for APC's a little much??

It seems like people size down more on APCs than on N&F, so since those jeans above are a little too tight, wouldn't an APC at the same tagged size stretch more? That is what I am wondering before I order some.

Context clothing says the measured size is TWO sizes up from the tagged size. Compounded with the notorious APC stretch?

P.S. My question isn't about APC sizing as much as it is asking what fits/cuts are similar to Weird Guys in other brands, with a ~$200 price tag or less.

  8. I really liked my N&F Weird Guys (size 29) back when they fit:

Lately, I've been taking working out very seriously, 'bulking' and doing lots of squats, so these jeans are starting to get tight as heck:

Alas, I'm not going to stop progressing in the gym just so these jeans will fit better so it looks like they may have to retire at about six months, with a wash at five months. Now I'm looking for my next denim purchase that will fit me better. I'm a 32 waist (now at least) and those are 29s, so from what I've reasearched, I was thinking of getting APCs at tagged size 29 since they're a bit larger. I am going to miss the tapered fit though, as I see a lot of APCs fitting people too 'squarish' because of the straight leg... advice?

  9. i think i'm normally a size 30 (not even really sure). i sized down to 29 on these weird guy n&f's until it was almost impossible to button, yet still just barely possible to sit down in them. boners have been quite painful as i get them often. i've worn these jeans about 18 days and they've stretched even more than i expected, but this also may be due to a slight weight loss. i weighed about 158 at most when wearing them, and i'm down to 152. i hope to gain this weight back and more over the next few months. i'm 6 feet tall, by the way. and i also have some really weird wide hips, which makes buying jeans hard for me.

the knee bulges are ridiculous, but should get some nice whiskers. all in all, i'm pretty satisfied with my first raw denim purchase. hopefully i'll be back in some months with progress. right now, i just wanted to document the fit.
