  1. Those are looking really good robbie! I have not gotten significant wear on mine yet.. they seem to wear like fuckin iron! Also, mine shrunk up to an almost skinny fit for me.. so i probably don't wear them as often as i would like. However, I have gotten tons of compliments on them. Women love Roys! lol

  2. OK, thanks dr! My 47's still have some of that initial stiffness, which i kind of like. But it made me wonder if it meant they had some more shrinkage left in them. I think i will wear them until they soften up a bit, then give them a wash... You do machine washes or hand washes with your jeans?

  3. OK.. Maybe i will try a pair of raw 33's next time.. but so far I have had your experience tiger.. not a whole lot of shrinkage. But, i have heard stories from others that they could not button the top button after a hot wash. I think I will wear mine for another month, then give them a hot wash and see what happens. I really like this 47 cut because of the way they hang on my hips.. it is really nice to not have to wear a belt! It makes them my most comfortable jeans by far.

  4. Hey fellas.. just wondering about shrinking on my raw 1947's.. i did a good hot soak.. with a little agitation and I am currently fairly happy with the fit. However, if they shrunk a bit more, that would be even better. I am wondering if the 47's have "stages" in their shrinking? My roy's were treated the same way, worn a few months and so stretched out i thought i might have bought the wrong size.. warm washed them.. and yikes!.. i was amazed at the shrinkage! I am wondering if the 47's may be similar.. or if i will just buy 1 size down next time. Thanks!

  5. Totally understand where you are coming from Vinn.. I was interested to see how a wider leg jean would come out.. but then roy decided to go the slim (ultra slim i would say) route. How do sugar cane 47's fit you? I really like them when I want more room in the legs.

  6. Thanks for the info Vinn.. I was curious as to why u bailed on your roy's too. But i didn't pm you because I figured you would eventually talk about it.

About your fit.. Do you think if you sized up one it would have solved your fit issue?.. or it would have thrown off the fit in the top block too much, just trading 1 problem for another?

  7. Hey Vinn.. How does the denim on your 55's compare with the cone denim Roy uses for his standard jeans? There has been much talk about how marvelous the denim is on the contest jeans, but I am curious where Roy's usual denim falls in comparison to other cone denim as used in LVC stuff. thanks!.. and totally perfect fit by the way! It must feel good to put on a jean that is just right!

  8. I am curious about the ordered size too.. My OG roy's were ordered as 36's.. so actual waist was 36" measured.. and currently, there is no offering at this size. (36" pre-soak) I haven't measured mine in a while.. but depending your size i am curious as to how they stretched out.

  9. why are people dumping their roy's ?? DId i miss something again?? lol Even though roy's feel like they are becoming a bit of a boutique jean lately, I still have faith in roy and look forward to his future offerings. (assuming he will make more than 30 of them)

  10. "the 83's &66 are very similar in fit although the 66 is an all around nicer jean."

I don't have a pair of 66's, so I can't directly compare. But, I think the 66's have a bit more tapered leg(?) I think the 83's have some nice denim imo.. which is why I chose them.

  11. Thought I would post a pic of my 1983's. I started wearing them in mid Feb. (2010}. These were my first pair of "real" jeans. I need to take a couple close ups of these. The roping at the hem really turned out nice on these.

  12. Hey Vin... what size did you get? I have 36's..(original measuring style..36 = 36 actual waist) I did the same thing.. quick cold soak and wore them.. they eventually stretched to a point that i thought i had a size to big.. So, I did a hot 3 hour soak and fluff dry. It shocked me how much more they shrunk! Now, I think they are my perfect size. I will post some fit pics today, but i was curious with your experience.

  13. Thanks for the replies! I was curious how they felt.. impressions, etc. I am 6' tall... and more athletic build.. I can't wear a jean with a rise less than 11 inches. It feels like i will fall out of them. So.. i am hoping these will have a little bit of a more refined fit.. vs. the anti fit i usually wear because of my body type.

I see this "oxidation process" described in many of the Warehouse jeans description.. what is it? I prefer a raw jean.. so how does the oxidation process fit in with that? Does warehouse make a jean made with the 1000xx denim any more? It seems many here really liked it.

  14. Does anyone have an opinion on the blueingreen D5's?.. They look interesting to me because they have a slightly shorter rises than what i usually wear, but still decent thigh room. From what i read, they are made from the 1000xx denim that many here are crazy about. I read pages and pages of this thread.. but they seem to have little mention. Any info is greatly appreciated.

  15. I guess i am one of the bitter ones.. because i think this is pretty fuckin lame. Not the jeans, but the way it was "announced".. if that really happened.. I guess I just wasn't sharp enough to get it. So now we get to watch many of the die hard roy fans evo a pair of kick ass jeans that, as far as we know, will not be available to buy. Brilliant. I know , I know , sour grapes.

  16. I like this tone much better!

Since we are just dreaming.. Is it possible for a jean maker like roy to have his own "recipe" of denim made by a company like cone? Or is it simply a matter of cone giving buyers a menu of various denim fabric and they choose from it?

  17. OK, i will ask some questions.. forgive my ignorance.. but this k87211 denim is obviously labeled "black seed" in one of your pics. Are there many different denims that use the black seed cotton? Is this some new special creation?.. That machine behind the denim in the other pics looks like Roy's belt loop making machine... is there another "roy" that beat the real Roy to this denim??

You also wrote about the indigo color.. what is different in the dyeing process with this denim vs other indigo denim?

  18. I was just looking at the sizes offered at selfedge.. and noticed that there are no 35's and 37's offered. I thought the 1 inch increment sizing of Roy's was a nice option. Are they still available to special order? I currently own a pair of 36 and 37's... but still losing some weight.

New Roy pricing: It is a bit steep, but at least the product has not changed and the jeans are still 100% Roy. And being able to buy them from selfedge will be nice for first time buyers that may be off a size. Remember how everyone agonized about getting the right size? At least now it will be a relatively easy option to say.. "i want to exchange for 1 size up".
