  1. Hello fellows!

I am in search of a good boat shoe/moc to wear in my travels over the next few years. I left my home (USA) in 2010. I've been working in conflict areas / 3rd world countries and I need good footwear. I usually wear redwing chukkas which I enjoy because of the vibram sole but recently I've had a crush on finding some nice boat shoes. I really like redwing but I would be happy with anything hand-made and quality (who wouldn't . Any suggestions or if you have a pair that you have worn once or twice id love to take them off your hands. Let me give them a new life. I really like the 9167/9171 japanese made wabasha boat shoes (With the white bottoms) but I cant find them anywhere in my size. I will also pay a finders fee if you can find this in a US size 12. Any questions send me a pm.

    Much thanks!

    -Todd

  2. Fit Picks and moar 425xx Special (all natural indigo), Picked up in Shenyang, the craftsmanship is amazing on these and im really excited to see this brand grow. They are hot in the Mainland market, im going to stop by some brick and mortars and see if I can find some old stock, I really like some of the older work shirts. I have some more pictures but dont want to bog anyone down with photos, if anyones interested I have some from the factory and the stock that is going to be released soon... Factory is really clean, workers are happy and knowledgable, I really support this amazing artwork he is producing.

  3. All the big, commercial denim factories are in south-west of china. About 60-70% of the global production finds their way through China at one point, but you probably don't want to go there. Nothing to see but pollution and ugly washed jeans.

Besides a few stores in Beijing and Hong Kong, you should check out Red Cloud Jeans (see thread in superdenim). Try to get in touch with them through their blog (mentioned somewhere in the thread) and maybe they let you see their workshop and source base...

YES! That is awesome, red cloud, ill check them out. I was in Moscow for a week this month by the way.... Thanks so so much!

  4. I am about 8 months in, started in London in March (im from New York) hitched/train/bus all the way to where I am now which is Mongolia. I have been traveling with a pair of Allevol's which I picked up in London and some Beatle Busters (HXB01) 21oz heavy mofo's for traveling-pants.... Ending in Australia in March.

What I want from you wonderful people... I LOVE denim, I love everything about it, its another art form to me (im a photographer who is freelancing in some conflict zones) and the next 3 months ill be traveling through the above countries doing a small project. I was wondering if anyone could point me to a denim factory still using shuttle looms and maybe using natural indigo just for touristic and buying reasons. I remember reading a post on here last year about a guy who stumbled upon some levi repos in india that were really good quality and I would love to pick up some cheap selvedge repos along the way (and possibly proxy if people want). My friend who is a girl also wants to pick up a cheap pair of dry denim (soon) but I dont know any good brands sold in mongolia/ western china, we might be going through beijing but probably not because its too far out of our way for India. ANY direction would be immensely appreciated.

    tldr.

    1. Jean manufactures in Mongolia/Western China/India that I could visit possibly

    2. Under $100 USD dry selvedge that can be picked up in Mongolia or West China for women

    3. Possibly can proxy if you send me a good place

I have a super-low post count, ive been lurking here for a while, thought this would be a good time to shout out.

  5. Bought these a week ago and are obviously too large still brand new with tags. I will gladly trade for a 30 or 31 in most quality Jap unworn denim (preferably heavy OZ) can do + cash, or $250. Any questions hit me up, thanks fo lookin!!!

  6. Hey all,

I was just kinda curious as to what everyone does to pay the bills? I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what to do for a career in life and I could use some ideas.

I took audio engineering/music production at an arts college, but now I'm starting to find it's not the most stable way to make a living. I've been doing free-lance graphic design for years now, and I'm pretty well versed in the major design programs, so I've been thinking of getting into that.

It's just depressing, because my education cost a lot, and no really great opportunities have come up.

Hey man do what you like!

So hello, Im new to this fourm but have been trolling for a while. :)

I started bartending when I was 16 (ish) and bussing tables (bartending when the bartender didnt show or came late) and eventually worked for the number 1 hotel in Louisiana (last year) and quit to travel (and beat up my jeans for once). I realized that its shit and I can make really good money doing it but I love photography, which is how I have been making my money recently. I dont make anything compared to bartending but it allows me to travel and do what I want. I also do audio enginering as well and it doesnt pay the bills either, its more or less a hobby now .

If you goto school for marketing you can work as a graphic designer freelancing and make pretty good money, a few friends of mine have gone this route.
