  1. I can't really think of a way to prevent the fading. If the denim were stiff I would recommend giving it a quick soak so that there would be less rigid creases forming, but the denim is already pretty soft. I would just avoid heavy wear. But I have to say, the indigo underneath does look pretty good when it starts to show through the black.

If you're looking for a black denim jacket that will stay dark forever (literally), I would check out the Iron Heart IH-9526j jacket. It's not cheap, but its very high quality like Railcar. Finding a used one would be a good idea

  2. Would you mind posting measurements? (I'm curious, and it might be helpful to other people thinking of purchasing one of these jackets.)

    My size 42 DB-430 measures 22.5" p2p post soak.

*Also, mattdude and I pm'd about his jacket, just in case it seems like there's some missing dialog in these posts  :)

Sure! These are measurements post soak for a size 38 SDA DB-430:

    P2P: 20.5 inches

    Arm Length: 23.5 inches

Length from bottom of collar to hem: 23.5 inches

The shrinkage was most noticeable in the arm length, and not too much in the chest

  3. I decided to get a size 38 medium. It did run a little large initially, but after the soak I'd say it fits like a size small. So I would definitely recommend to anyone interested to take into account shrinkage and presoak it in hot water.

P.S. Thanks for your help jonny! I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this one

  4. Got my Studio D'Artisan DB-430 jacket recently, and it is awesome. I purchased it through Rakuten with no issues with customs or taxes at all. I was worried that it was going to be too big, but giving it a hot soak shrunk it down nicely. In comparison with my old Iron Heart 21oz jacket, it is definitely more rigid (and thinner of course). But I find that this one fits better because of the longer arm length. So far it seems worth the money. Can't wait to see how it looks after a few months!

  5. Just picked up a pair of X001s recently. It was awesome to tour the workshop, and Steven was truly a great guy. The X001s are a perfect year-round weight, and a tad more classic blue than the X002s. They stretch a little bit, more so than the X002s, so they were a good option for me because I'm in between a 29 and 30 and was able to comfortably take a 29 and get the slimmer fit I wanted. Absolutely no regrets switching to Railcar from APC... they are much higher quality and built by awesome people

  6. Does anyone have any info/opinions about japanese type 3's? I'm looking to get a Studio d'Artisan one on rakuten and am wondering if they worth the $300+ price tag. They sure look nice!

I'm also checking out Samurai and Eternal too...

  7. $58 shipped/ paypaled

For sale is a pair of APC New Cure jeans in size 27. I wore these for a while but ended up opting for a different style. They definitely have a ton of life left in them; zero soaks or washes. No tailoring or hemming either. There is some back pocket fading form a wallet and just sitting, and there are some knee and whisker fades forming. A little phone fade too. They smell a bit, but giving them a soak or putting them in the freezer should help fix that. There is some missing stitching as a result of cuffing too, which are shown in the pics. Not much combs though! I've tried to detail all the fades, but in general, I would describe these just as simply broken in; they will definitely fade more to their future owner's liking.

Please contact me with any questions, thanks!

    Waist: 14.75 in.
