For someone not familiar with bb, I only now about it from US media and messageboards, It seems like a big clunky phone with a small screen and bad camera, what is the appeal of it instead of say, an iphone or android smartphone?

I love my SE W995.
Don't care about games, use it for gmail, i don't know about skype.
You will ditch your iPod after getting it though, as there is no need to carry it around, has a 3.5mm jack.
Love the UI, simple and easy. Sliding front, sleek and small.
