  1. Thanks Wheeler, I suspected as much. I'll have them hemmed 2cm too long. @ Ruby I doubt they will stretch back in length. I don't want them to become too short after a couple of washes. You're right about the waist though.

Of course. Sorry, meant the waist... Shrinkage in length is about 1" to1.5". At Capsule Paris we had some factory rinsed models, there was barely a difference compared to RAW. (2cm diff in length.) My 0700SP didn't move that much either after a hot machine rinse...

  2. I know JB X Momo is sanforized but I read something about japanese sanforized denim still shrinking a fair bit somewhere.

Should i soak before I start to wear my JP 0701s?

No need really... shrinks 1-2% with hot soak, stretches out easily again.

  3. What also could be is that things get lost in translation, when placing item characteristics. Rampuya/Momotaro is after all a Japanese company (just let Google translate a random Japanese page and you'll get what I'm trying to say). I doubt the owners/founders and workers at Momotaro don't know what they are talking about.

By the way, how could a fabric become lighter because it's sanforized? Sanforization is a process that somewhat shrinkproofs jeans by apllying heat (denim is pressed through rollers at a certain temperature). You would think that, like shrinking (by for example soaking), the density of the fabric gets thicker and thus gains weight.

I'm with you on the lighter coloured indigo though, my Copper Labels have a lighter color also (waistband inside and pocketsbags) and this is natural indigo. My guess, is that Momotaro is dyed with a combination of both natural and synthetic indigo. Don't know for sure though... But I just can't find any other reason why they call it natural indigo?

Maybe because of the color? Like if unnatural indigo is pink or something? :P

[Edit: Forgot to mention that while the difference between the 0705NI and the Grand Indio/0702 truly is remarkable colorwise ,but you must not forget that the latter two both have a black weft that helps to contribute to the really dark color]

    Hi guys,

Do consider that indigo color differs, as well as dying techniques used, as well as dying results (oxidation, etc) (if you compare copper label/GTB/Vintage)....

The BIG NI is 100% natural indigo dyed, and is based upon the model shown at the tradeshows last year. There was little interest (because of the high retail price I guess) and gordon/momotaro decided to give the fabric a go resulting in a nice collab...

Indeed, a lot goes wrong in translation and except for the NI and some gold label which use natural indigo; with natural indigo they mean pure indigo, so not the mixed stuff (sulpur added, ...) which is a lot cheaper and very often used.

  4. im the same way with my jeans. im very ocd. im at a lost as in what to do with my jeans. i like the double cuff i have going on but i don't like the fact that they highwater when i sit AND i dont really how they make very visible cuff marks if i decide to unroll them. i just don't know what to do lol i'm very neurotic when it comes to my jeans

Buy 2 pairs : one for cuffing & one hemmed to length ;-)

  5. Kiya, can you or anyone else here point me to some better pix of Buzz jeans than what is on HPA's site? Looking for model 1942 M43019N. Size 38 SC 66s and 47s are big on me but I think the waist on the size 36 would be too small. HPA says they can get in the size 37 Buzz jeans, but I'm not finding much of anything about them on the net.

It's not listed anymore, but have you contacted http://www.buzzrickson.com/ (euro distib.). They still might have some pix for you...

  6. Has someone (particarly Rob or Jay) seen the 0702 in person? If so, can you give a description on what it is like? Pics would be even better. Just curious of what I'm waiting for.

Jay stated it's going to be a whole new fabric (source: BlueOwl blog). If it is anything like the Grand Indigo's I'm sure it will be fantastic!

Friday I'll have the 0202 & 0702, as well as the new G017 and the new GTB's, and I'll bring them home after the weekend :-)

I'll post pics this weekend if I find a moment or you can come and visit me in Paris this weekend, or Antwerp afterwards...

  7. I'm not seeing the Momotaro T-shirts anywhere on your website. Jay has been telling me he's eventually going to re stock those, but it sounded like it would be a while out. I've been trying to track down a red one in small myself.

They're out of stock at the moment... snet me a pm and I'll let you know when replenishment will take place.

  8. my 0700 SP fit. i'll be wearing just these jeans on a five month cross country trek. so they are going to see some real abuse.

    i'll keep you guys posted.

That's nice. Curious to see how they change over time, so far haven't seen a decent faded JB pair.

  9. The concensus had been for a long period that Momotaro partially sanforized jeans, which is... When you think of it, complete bullshit. You either sanforize or not. Think this has to do with the "false" info on the flashers regarding the GTB and Copper Label models, which state they are sanforized, while they are one wash.

Rubyblue, do you have an estimated guess on when the 0702 will be available? I'm intending on copping a pair when it gets released.

It's a bit confusing yep... but copper & gtb are o/w & sanforized. Vintage label even exist in o/w, but this is mostly for the Japanese market.

The 0702, we are presenting it right now... delivery early spring I guess, but I can confirm exact date end of january. You order a pair from me he...;-)

  10. Guys (@Brown & M1s), The Euroline jeans (as the ER007) was initally a line especially developped for European market, S/S2010 we speak.

The one Jay carries the only remainder of that line, in fact the only model that is a 'commercial' hit (Momotaro wanted to have a fabric similar to PBJ XX007/9, BUT wait until you see the 0702 :-))

All Euroline jeans were tagged w28/34-L34 & W36-L35, an they more or less shrink to tagged size after a hot wash.

Momotaro"s vintage label jeans are the only ones that are unsanforized or loomstate.

ALL other models are sanforized, and not partionally sanforised!

A rinsed Momotaro (Copper label/GTB) shrinks because it has only briefly being washed using a controlled water temperature of 10°C and will shrink further by soaking in hoy water, hence you guys coming up with partionally sanforized stories.

  11. Yes definitely next week once they settle a bit more I'll be heading down to Blue Owl to drop them off for a hem probably take off 2" or so but after cuffing em to 1.5" I am thinking about that since I don't want them highwater when I sit I want minor stack for a little bit of stretch when sitting etc.

Say hi to Jay from me (Rob, OKIYA). Thx

  12. I have plans to give these at least a year of wear, but that may be difficult as *rumor* has it that there is going to be a momotaro (not japan blue) release in a similar cut to the JB101s.

Mmm... I doubt that. Only a Deep Blue Copper Label model is on it's way, but it is an existing fit.

And as mentioned before, two GTB label models in OLD BLUE ind!go (same as Copper Label)
