I can't get the measuring right!
If I put a band around my waist without pulling hard, I get 39". If I measure my freshly soaked and hang dried FH380 (tag says 38) by laying it down evenly, I measure 18.5" which makes a 37". If I put this pair on, I can button them easily though and still have a little wiggle room. I find it's fit a bit loose but okay. All my other jeans say 36 on the tag, whether it's A&F, Levis or 7faM. So what should I get in APC NS that has a slimmer fit than my FH?
Based on all the rules posted here, I could end up anywhere between a 37 (true waist minus 2) or down to a 33 (tag size of Levis minus 3).

hi guys, i need some advice...my waist measures at 31in - what size should i go with for the new standards?
thanks for the help.
I would try a 28, or if you want it superslim a 27.

if you wear 36 like i do, then a 33/34 NS should fit nicely. What should they fit like when brand new? Not that I buy them TOO small and they won't stretch enough and not that I buy them TOO large so that they are too baggy afterwards. How many buttons should I be able to button?

I measured it a little above the hip bone so it's not the thinnest part but not where everybody else normally wears their pants either.A 34 sounds pretty good for NS imo. Which jeans do you purchase that are a 36 when you're measured size is a 40? Kind of crazy difference for the tagged and measured sized
Noir_y: Haha, these are semi-retired since I been focusing on my PBJ's more often.
I just measured my real waist (the thinnest point of my torso) and guess what? I'm a 36. I'll check some freshly washed non-raw jeans in 36 what they actually measure.

Where/how did you measure 30". With nothing on? And at which point at your body? The thinnest (= true waist)? Or where everyone normally wears pants (at the hip bones)? Why I ask: I measured my waist (where the jeans sit) and got a 40".
I found that shocking as I always buy 36 and they fit without any problems.
What NS size would you guys recommend for a slim fit (after stretching) with the data above?
Thanks, Chris

Thanks, 30 so I sized down 3. First couple of months of wear were brutal but it stretched overtimeWhere/how did you measure 30". With nothing on? And at which point at your body? The thinnest (= true waist)? Or where everyone normally wears pants (at the hip bones)?

If you wash them in hot water ( 60C) they will shrink, if you want them to shrink more, wash then dry in dryer on high. They'll shrink for the first 5-6 washes (smaller than before). My F380s are significantly smaller than after the first wash now, after like 8-10 ish washes.
Hm, if that's the case, I'll skip the dryer for this time. I'm just too scared of it ruining the denim in some way.

Hey guys,
I got a F380 at Self Edge with a 38 waist.
Before the soak, they fit me quite well, everything had a tiny little bit of room.
After a 45min warm soak and one night of hang drying, the fit was almost perfect and I could still button the jeans comfortably.
Now, after 4 weeks of wearing it every day and losing 25 pounds (I started wearing them about 3 weeks later after I bought them), it became a little too loose for my taste. It's not baggy, but I miss the fit after the soak.
Now I have some questions:
- How can I make them shrink even more? Boiling water? Should I put them in the dryer?
- Independent from this: After what time or how often should I wash them? Does the 6 months "rule" apply for FH? And HOW should I wash them? By hand in a tub (= kind of a soak with soap) or in a machine?
Thanks,
Chris

Hey guys,
I've bought a slim pair of one-wash RRL in June 2009 and am loving it!
But after over 1 year of wearing it, it starts to get the same marks that all my jeans get at some point: Crotch rip.
My question to you guys is: Where and how do you let them fix it?
I asked the girl who sold me the jeans in NYC and she said that every Ralph Lauren store would do that for free and she showed me a pair of jeans that just returned from repair and it looked great.
As I'm in Germany and have only 3 real RL stores in the whole country I don't know what to do now!? Send them to NYC, drive to Frankfurt and let it fix there or go to a normal tailor shop and let them fix it.
Thanks and take care,
Chris
