  1. if you have 2 pair of rrl already, maybe you should expand your denim horizons before getting a 3rd. Plenty of other brands that make good slim fits

That was a completely useless response.

I have more than enough offerings from "other" brands. (45RPM, SC, LVC, APC so on.) and even if i did not, it would be no concern of yours. I'm asking about RRL in a RRL thread, so how's about someone chime in and address accordingly?

Once again, any experience with stretch selvedge vs. rigids?

  2. Does anyone have any experience with the stretch selvedge?

How does it wear and fade in comparison with the rigid stuff?

I already own a straight rigid and a slim rigid. I'm looking to get another pair of slims. Any suggestions as to the rigid vs. stretch would be appreciated.

  3. WTF is dunk culture anyway?

The process of buying, wearing, collecting, storing, selling, learning about and simply enjoying Nike Dunks.

The culture died out sometime in 2003, just as Jordan culture did in 2001. Insane hype on behalf or said perpetrators led to poor marketing and design ideas on behalf of Nike, effectively destroying the allure of a simple, elegant sneaker that needed no gimmicks or celebrity appeal to stand on it's own.

  4. Why does this pair come up on the auction block so frequently?

I think I've seen them bought and sold on ebay at least 3 times in the last couple years.

You'd think that anyone that was both a.) in a financial position to justify the purchase and b.) interested enough to do so would keep them as a prized possession for a very long time.

  5. Just so you know, manufacturers put "made in" for the LAST country that a product was worked on. So if the denim is manufactured at cone, then shipped to china, where the jeans are assembled, then the completed jeans shipped to Turkey for distressing, then the product is "made in turkey"

    :)

    Interesting.

Are you suggesting that LVC actually uses Chinese factories for assembly on the washed/distressed models, beyond the finish jobs in Turkey?

I'd never heard that but I suppose it wouldn't entirely surprise me.

Though you'd think the freight costs of multiple shipments to multiple countries would have a more substantial impact on profit margin than the money saved using cheaper labor.

  6. no need to get defensive

My sincerest apologies if i come off as defensive. I talk a fair amount of shit, all in jest i assure you.

Vocal inflections are difficult to convey via internet forums. (emoticons don't cut it)

I meant no offense to anyone.

...except perhaps the dick riding hipsters that stole dunk culture away from me.:D

  7. hi everyone! i'd like to buy a basic cheap rigid 501XX. Presently my levi's "preshrunk" size is:

    W 27 or 28

    L 30 (or less).

    am i right if i buy a 29x30?

and which is the best way to shrink a NOT '47 501XX ?

    1) wearing them for months and then dipping in very hot water in the bathtube while wearing them

    2) wearing for months and then dipping in very hot water in the bathtube while wearing them for many others months/years

    3) dipping immediatelty in very hot water wearing them

    4) wearing for months and then soaking in whashing machine at highest temperature for 1 h and after that repeating immediately this operation for 2 or 3 times

    5) soaking immediatelty in whashing machine at highest temperature for 1 h and then repeat this operation for many others months/years

please help me!! thank you very much! :)

You should buy your true size in the waist.

If I were you, I'd by a 27 or 28x32. True to size in the waist to account for stretching. As long as you can button the top button after soaking then you'll be good. Definitely go for the extra couple inches on the inseam.

You'll regret it if you don't. If you buy a tagged 30" inseam you'll end up with a 27-28" inseam and will get no stacking at all unless you're under 5 feet tall.

  8. For regular STF's, definitely cold soak (or luke warm) first. If LVC, then hot is fine as the dye won't come out so fast upon the initial soak.

But wear them while soaking to begin the conformation process while wet. No salt or additives are necessary and I find to be futile.

Then as often recommended, wear wet until dry.

These simple steps will reap two primary rewards:

A.) Perfect shrinkage to your shape right off the bat.

B.) A swift jump start on whiskers, honeycombs and other folds.

  9. The thigh will still fade over time with or without a real washing.

Granted, not as much as areas with deeply compressed folds but fades will occur nonetheless.

Needless to say, washing periodically will accelerate any fade prone areas, in addition to removing some indigo from the entire garment as a whole.

  10. I'm new to this forum but not so much to denim.

I have a fairly respectable collection of LVC, RRL, plus some vintage Levi's and Wranglers among other more luxurious pieces from 45RPM and Sugar Cane.

I do appreciate truly premium garments, but I must say, these Thai fakes that I snagged for next to nothing get more wear than anything I own.

    They fit me beyond perfectly.

  11. Been lurking for a minute. Been wearing LVC for a few years now.

This is my first real posting, so first some basics...

    This summer's project.

LVC 1947 (28x34) after one soak and 3 months of wear:

I'm a DJ by trade, so most of the work these see is loading, setting up and breaking down gear. Then of course they see profuse perspiration when I'm playing in hot, packed clubs.

I usually go a full 6-8 months before an actual wash but I think I gonna go ahead an give these a whirl in the machine.

    Anyone advise otherwise?

I have two other raw pairs (a '55 and a RRL straight leg) that I'm dying to get started on.
