Just the answer I needed. Coniston 9½ fitted me perfect in length and width. So according to your answer I should size up ½ a size from C&J, and that means a #10 in Alden. Thanks a lot for your help!

I have already, and I have received 2 different answers. I guess I just have to order a pair and hope I get the right size. Unfortunately I can't just try on a pair here in Sweden...

I'm about to buy a pair of Alden Indys online and I just have a question about size. If anyone can give me a good answer I would be happy. My foot is 28.2 cm long, 10.0 cm wide. I usually wear EUR44, US M 10½, UK 9½ (DM, Crockett&Jones Coniston). I have a skinny heel and not to high arc. Should I go with 9½D or 10D?
Thanks for any help!

Nice work with the list Panda!
iGIT, really crispy combs! How many hours of sitting with your legs folded under yourself have you logged? Do you often host Japanese tea parties?

I got to say that Cures jeans are sick. My favourite so far. Strong contrast and the jeans are not completely trashed. How do you do your scrub wash thing? Looking forward to some more pics.

I have worn my jeans for around 9 months and it is now that I really start to enjoy them. I have machine washed them 3 times in luke warm water to prevent shrink and fade and it has worked out ok. These jeans haven't been in Africa just yet but they have at least followed me over the Atlantic a couple of times. I will wear them over the summer before it is time to start to break in my Flat Head F310. Have fun.

Thank's. I'll look around anyway. Too bad I'm not going to the west coast instead.
I'm also looking at a pair of Coniston by Crockett & Jones. Does anyone have a pair of these boots. How do they wear?

So I am on my way from Sweden to Orlando, FL in a week and I am looking into buying a pair of Alden Indy. Does anyone know a good shop in or around Orlando where I can find Alden shoes?
Having read the last replies in this thread there seems to be some concern about the quality of the Indy boot. What's all this about?
Are there any other pair of boots anyone would recommend while I am in US anyway?

Thanks Miz for your work here. Looking forward to be a future supporter and to the pictures of the final result!

so many of my questions about old techniques are answered! although I still dont understand why you'd be needing a special chainstitch machine for the waistband attachment with chainstitching all the way..
Miz: can you ask mr. kuniyoshi why the interlock stitch is prefered over a double lapseam on the inseams? I prefer double lapseam because it is a cleaner technique.. (I used this in my own jeans as well)
I'm also wondering about this. Isn't it more common with a lap seam or maybe double stitch on the inseam rather than a single stitch? And what is best to prevent a crotch blowout?

Wow what an amazing thread!
If everything was made with such craftsmanship and pride the world would be a better place. And a bit more expensive...

I've been sliding around in the snow with my Alden 405 for a while now so I decided to buy another pair of boots. I was lucky to find a shop in Norway that had both Red Wing 875 and Red Wing GT 9013 that I could try on. I went for the Gentleman Traveler that I think fitted my foot the best. I'm posting this picture taken on my hotel room with my phone. Really happy for the buy.
