  1. friend of mine bought a pair of each style. the slims weren't so slim. more like a straight. they have a blue selvage that's probably nylon as it's pretty shiny. an unexpected detail were the hidden rivets on the back pockets. all in all pretty decent, but like blosom said, do you really need another pair?

  2. i am 5'7 and 133 lbs

    i order xs

here is the measurement from pointer

    shoulder 18''

    armpit to armpit 23.75"

    centerback 28.75"

    sleeves 24.5""

    but when i measure it

    the should is 18"

armpit to armpit ( with button closed" 18.5"

    centerback 26.5"

    sleeves 24.5"

if you go to the japanese website, it provided a much better measurement

so my pointer chore jackets came in today. thought i'd throw up the measurements for the 'small' and 'medium' and keep them with fattybfat's previous post for easier reference.

    small

    chest: 20.75"

neck: 16" (buttoned, measuring the interior)

    shoulder: 19"

    armhole: 10.25"

    sleeve: 24.5"

    center back: 27"

    medium

    chest: 22.75"

neck: 17.5" (buttoned, measuring the interior)

    shoulder: 20"

    armhole: 11.5"

    sleeve: 25"

    center back: 28"

    hope that helps...

  3. found this seller on ebay with what looks to be pike brother's pieces. they have several of the womens garments and the men's denim army shirt/trouser/hat set along with the army denim coverall. i can't tell if they're fake or not as most of the details seem to match up perfectly. the price seems about right with the pb site as well. the only major deal is the trouser at what seems to be almost 40% off.

army shirt is 69 (as apposed to 79)

army trouser 59 (as apposed to 104)

army coverall is 109 (as apposed to 113)

(the second prices have the 19% vat subtracted from the website price)

almostnice: hope that helps some if you're interested in picking up the coveralls.

  4. uh, dawei, are you not familiar with string? wrap it around your waist and measure the length with a ruler...

then again, you're not a carpenter, so you may not have these items laying around either.

  5. well, i cold soaked for about an hour and a half, then soaked to rinse them for another 30. the first soak tinged the water a light brown, nothing major. the rinse showed a little bleeding. the water was just slightly blue.

  6. just picked mine up. really love the cut and details! about to go soak them.

noticed the tailors pencil too. but only on the coin pocket. wonder why as it's not like the thread contour would require marking?

can't remember if anyone mentioned that the pocket bag openings are taped as well.

rnrswitch: how long did you soak your's for?

  7. My wallet is empty.

that's so funny. wearing a wallet without anything in it as opposed to a can of dip with nothing in it...nice!

(just for reference, i'm not making fun here!)

  8. so, wasn't there a contest or something that was supposed to happen through 3sixteen/self edge? anyone heard anything?

eugen eugen: sorry mate, busy weekend. will try to get fit pics up tomorrow!

  9. therelativity: i guess it depends on their dye process. as a painter you learn that true black doesn't exist so you use blue and brown to create a blackish hue. maybe it's the same with denim and trying to achieve a more natural shade. or it could be more cost effective.

on another note, i soaked my slim indigos to get the starch out. let them sit for 1.5 hours, went to fetch them and the water had turned rust orange. did another 30 minute soak after that to further rinse off whatever was left and came back to water a lighter orange. after they dried, that 'natural' hue i referred to earlier was gone. what's up with that?

  10. yeh, i dig the blue stitching.

wasn't that one of the detail's mizanation mentioned about his custom jeans? that it was a design element to move the eye away from the crotch.

and yeh, wondered about the coin pocket too, but really kind of dig it.

  11. true waist is relative to the cut of the pant (low rise, etc.). best bet, as always, is to compare the measurements to a pair you already have and whose fit you love. this has yet to fail me.

i'll try to get a fit pick up soon.

  12. these haven't been out long enough to gauge fades, but doesn't kaihara manufacture denim for edwin as well? you could always check that for a slight reference.

my 3sixteen slim indigo have similar coloring as my edwin sen skinny, but the edwins have a sheen that the 3sixteens lack. also, the weft on the edwins is white and the 3sixteens are a cream/natural. the 3 sixteens look really sharp turned up!

also, as far as sizing, i went with my true waist measurement and got the closest to a 32" (which is their size 31) and it fit perfect (read: not tight/not loose, fitted at the waist with room to put my thumb and pull). i thought about sizing down but kiya suggested against it saying there was no need unless i wanted it skin tight (which i've been trying to get away from...).

so, yeh, i guess size down if you want it super slim. hope that helps...

  13. this is what gordon had to say about shrinkage:

Maximum expected shrinkage is about 2" in the waist, 2.5" in the inseam, 1"

in the rise, and 1/2" in the leg. About half of the expected shrinkage will

occur with just soaking and hang drying.

hope that helps anyone else who was interested...
