Where are you planning on sending them for repairs? I've used Jyoni's Raw Hands service (all hand repairs) and sent a pair to Tmadd at Indigo Proof and was very happy with both.

My routine is pretty steady. I work too much and spend all my spare time with my wife and our dog. My dog is a cute mutt, but she's also a doofus. She will do anything for food, which leads to her trying to squeeze into any space for a snack.
We hike as much as we can in the nearby state parks. My dog loves it.
My wife and I also try to travel as often as we can. Since this contest started I've spent time in Florida, West Virginia, Niagara Falls, and LA, and I'm planning to try to go somewhere warm this winter. Here's some shots from various trips.
(This should have embedded as a video, but it didn't. Click the photo if you want to see a time lapse of some clouds on Flickr.).
Going to Disneyland as an adult is an odd experience.
As for the jeans, my pair has a lot of the crosshatch fading at the thighs, and I hemmed them to break just slightly at the ankle. I like them much better after the hem.

I'm way overdue too. I don't have any pics on hands of the current progress of the jeans, but I live in Pittsburgh and have a lot to share about the city.
It's a nice modern city with a newfound influence on the tech sector (Google has a location here and Uber is testing their self-driving cars in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon University only in Pittsburgh), but it still feels rural in a lot of places. You see sights like this all the time while you drive around town.
The city also has three teams in the major professional leagues (the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins in the MLB, NFL and NHL respectively in case you don't follow sports).
The Pirates play at the prettiest ballpark in all of MLB.
The Steelers play at Heinz Field, which isn't really anything special.
I've never been to a Penguins game, but I did get a chance to see the Stanley Cup in person, and it is incredibly cool in person.

Yes all request is possible!
Te top roll i dont recommend a small roll but possible no issues
All my engineers fuck up on the roll leather starts to crack and yoi know what wesco told me?
It cant be repaired. And thats how it is so i did a longer overlap like old chippewas. Without actually having a lip ok the top edge which is where all the fuck up starts
Whoever at Wesco told you the rolled top can't be repaired if damaged is a dumbass. I've had that fixed on a half dozen pairs of vintage boots. It's a quick and cheap fix. You take another thin strip of leather, roll it, sew it and move on.
Plus, if the boot is well made and cut well, if that top gets damaged and is removed you should be left with a nice clean cut, like on this pair:
These are Sears Wearmasters that would have had the "Western Made" language on the tag and were likely made by Santa Rosa in the late 40s to early 50s. They have a lot of interesting features you don't see on run of the mill boots. I sold them off about two years ago.
A lot of the rarer vintage pairs have cut tops. Keeping the top cut with a sharp clean edge shows the quality workmanship involved in making the boot. A rolled top looks nice too, but it can sometimes be used to cover sloppy cutting.

Overreacting.

They look good Ed, but I agree with you on the buckles. Do you have a source for good roller buckles, or are participants going to have to source their own? I'd also want to make sure the bottom strap is the usual larger width. Getting the correct buckles would guaranty that, so that's not a big deal.
The last looks a little more like something you'd seen on a pair of oxfords in the pics with them on, but I think it actually works well. Please fill us all in on price and other specs if possible.

I don't understand why Viberg doesn't consistently use higher quality buckles for their engineer boots. The butterfly style just don't do it for me.

Don't retire it! Stitch up the hole on the arm and wear it another five years. It's too good to be retired.

Any photos of the Van Cleef engineers after some wear?

Ray had some questions on sizing etc etc sent them the 10th email . Have not gotten any reply any experience with them? Cost wise?
I haven't dealt with them, but they seem like a small operation. You're better off giving them a call if you can.

Just email him: [email protected]. If that doesn't work, their phone number is right on their website.

They look great! I think you'll be happy with them after you get a chance to walk around in them for awhile.

They were marked 34 by 33, and I ordered based off my previous experience with the cut from the first Ooe contest.

I received mine as well. Here's a pre-soak fit pic taken in poor lighting.
My pair is a 34 and I wanted a 30" ish waist. They measured 16 1/2" at the waist, 12 1/4" in the front rise, 16" at the back rise, 12 3/4" at the thigh, 9 1/8" at the knee, 8 1/2" at the hem with a 32 1/4" inseam before hitting water.
After a cold soak and dry and a lukewarm soak with a trip through the gentle cycle in the dryer, they shrank down to 15 3/4" in the waist, 11 3/4" front rise, 12 1/4" thigh, 8 3/4" knee, and a 30 1/4" inseam. I forgot to grab the back rise and hem measurements at that point, but you get the idea of how much these have shrunk so far.
The waist stretched back out quite easily and I suspect more shrinkage will be coming. Post-soak fit pics coming as soon as I can get them.

Volvo I have a pair of the Nomads and my sizing differed from the consensus you mentioned. I am an 8.5 D in most boots (and all White's boots I have tried so far), and the 8.5 D in the Nomads fit me perfectly. For reference, I am an 8 US in Chucks. I would suggest that the Nomads are very comfortable for walking long distances, and the extra width in the pair you found may be enough to make that pair work.
Feel free to PM me to discuss further.

Is there a timeframe for when orders must be placed? I don't mean to drag my feet but I probably won't get around to ordering and paying until this weekend.

Here's a recent fit pic of my pair from the first Ooe contest. There are more pics of these in the new Ooe Contest interest thread with some more detail but in poor lighting. The color is correct here and the photo is unedited (or only as edited as an iPhone image is when it is converted from a raw image to HDR). These continue to be my favorite pair of jeans.

Finally got around to taking a fit pic. I ordered a 36 and I like the fit all around. The shirt is definitely slim fitting for me in this size, but I like the length and the fit on the shoulders so much that I wouldn't consider swapping and going up a size. I will have to just wear this unbuttoned if I gain any weight.

These were taken right before the first contest ended.
I was 10+ pounds heavier then, so the jeans were becoming unwearable. I have since lost the weight and still wear these all the time. I have no idea how many days or months they have been worn, but I wear them 3 or more days a week and wash them about once a month or when they seem funky. They have been through a round of hand repairs I attempted and another round of repairs Jyoni handled.
Here's the contest pair as of yesterday evening. Pics taken indoors with no natural light on an iPhone 6s (I'll grab a few this weekend when I get to see daylight and post to the dedicated Ooe thread). The color is a bit off, but I think you get the idea of how great Ooe's get with dedicated wear.

Count me in! I'm going to snap some pics of my pair from the first contest just to encourage anyone on the fence to get in this.

What are the specs on the Nero Badalassi leather? It looks like it is dyed through from the pics.
I'd be interested to know what made John switch from the horween CXL to this.

Sorry to hear that the sizing didn't work out for so many people. My shirt arrived over the weekend and I had sized down to a 36 so I was definitely worried about sizing issues after seeing all the problems.
Somehow it worked out perfectly for me. The fit feels great and the shirt is wonderfully done. I will have to get a fit pic up soon, but I have been wearing the shirt extensively with the contest jeans.

That single white half sole from O'Sullivan is pretty rare that Bagus found. I didn't even know they existed in that color.
