  1. Anybody have any tips or tricks about how to make cuffs stay put? I've been trying to put a small double cuff on my S0500's (first wear) but it always seems to come undone shortly after, I'm guessing because the denim is still so rigid. I've never really tried cuffing before, but I want to shorten the inseam about 2 inches and this would be the easiest way to do it (won't be able to hem for awhile). Or would it be better to let the denim soften up a bit and then cuff?

  2. I am ordering some 007s and need sizing advice. I just sent back a pair of the 013s size 29 waste because they were too small, could barely get them on presoak. My true waste is a 31 but I wear my jeans just below that on my hip. I am thinking of getting the 007s now, size 31. Any advice?

Check out Blue in Green's measurements for the 007 one wash version, those will give you a good idea of what to expect your 007's to look like post soak. Then take A Beard of Star's advice and measure your best fitting jeans according to BiG's measurement guide. Then compare those to the one wash 007 measurements to determine how the 007's will fit you.

  3. I think the void model will be sold separately on its own, I don't think you have to buy any of the others to get it.

He was making a joke, hence the :D he put at the end of his post

  4. True, I hadn't really taken that into account. The straight cut from the knee down would look kinda shitty if there wasn't a slight stack or cuff at the bottom. Thanks for explaining

  5. ^ Forgive my ignorance but wouldn't the "shitty crease" just end up where you are gonna have them hemmed anyway? So when they are hemmed the extra length is removed and thus the crease with it. Or would the cuff wreak havoc on the denim else where?

  6. Was wondering if anyone can clear up these 710xx questions for me. I was comparing BiG's measurements to the post wash measurements on Samurai's website:

    http://www.samurai-j.com/lineup/jeans/s710xx19oz/index.html

and I found some weird instances. (This all based on sz. 33, as that is my waist)

    1. BiG lists the leg opening at 8 inches raw, while Samurai lists it at 8+ inches washed. Is the leg opening bigger than what BiG lists it at?

    2. Samurai indicates that after being washed the thigh measures 11.3-11.7 inches, from BiG's 12.75 inches raw. Is this because BiG and Samurai measure the thigh in a different place? Because that seems like an awful lot of shrinkage, especially when people in this thread only seem to be losing about 1/2-3/4 inch in the thigh. That thigh measurement would make the 710 very very slim up top, when it really seems to be a slim straight cut.

If anyone could comment on this I'd appreciate it. Just want to make sure that the 710xx isn't slimmer than I'm giving it credit for, looking for something more slim straight rather than a true slim cut (ie. Skull 5010xx)

  7. I just soak and hang dry, but I believe using a washing machine and a dryer do a better job.

    But only slightly.

True, after a few good hot soaks there really isn't too much more shrinkage that a dryer will get out of them.

  8. Question for anybody with the 5507xx: BiG's measurements have the waist at 2 sizes bigger than tagged while SE has the waist at 1 size larger than tagged, which is right? The BiG measurements are also larger overall, does anybody know which are more accurate?

Also, do you advise going TTS or downsizing to match the waist measurement to your own?

  9. I'm curious, are there any real disadvantages to buying a one wash pair of PBJs from BiG instead of a raw pair? I'm asking specifically about the XX-007, just because it is one of the darkest indigo dyed jeans I've ever seen. I'm assuming the one washes would have some creases to begin with, so would you guys recommend to iron those out before wearing? I just like the idea of starting the jeans with most of shrinkage already out of them, prevents any adjustments during a later wash.

  10. The general consensus on F310's would be stay true to size, correct? Also could any of you guys compare the F310 to Eternal 811's? If I'm reading the measurements right, the 811's are slightly larger above the knee and then they have a similar taper to the F310 from the knee down (comparing both with a 33 waist, my normal size).

Edit: I suppose also the 1001 since it is the same cut and the 3001/310 is being discontinued

  11. Surprisingly, at the same waist size, the LVC '47 501 are significantly slimmer.

Sugar Cane 2009 '47 repros are the closest I've worn so far to the LVC. You would think the 103 would be the same. But SDA seem to evade comparison, except maybe the KMW 1950 cut.

Wow I thought they would be fairly close in terms of measurements. I really do like SDA denim a lot, just wish there was a slightly slimmer cut available (not sure if there is, just going by BiG). Maybe I'll just size down on a pair of 103's next time, still a great jean though.

  12. ^ Very true, I like my 103s a lot but the notion of them being a slim cut is really a misnomer. They seem like a pretty straight cut to me, I don't have measurements in front of me but I'd say they are pretty similar to the1947 501 cut.

  13. the knee bulge on these NS's is awful. is there any technique or a way to reduce it.

Well you can avoid sitting down, but that isn't exactly practical. You can give them a soak to tighten up the fit a bit for a little while at least. I don't believe there is any real solution to the problem, it is just part of the raw denim experience.
