  1. i would appreciate anyone's opinion regarding whether waiting more than a year for the first wash/soak could potentially result in hastening the onset of the raw denim tearing or breaking down due to fact that the fibers are holding excess dust, sweat and oil, etc...

i've been doing a fair amount of research on this topic and have read that it is not recommend to wait more than a year for the first wash/soak. My denim is fast approach the one year mark and while it has been worn a great deal over the last ten months, it does not seem to have an offensive odor or appear dirty. i suspect at most it has accumulate particles of dust and small amounts of my body oils to date.

  2. these have been my go-to denim for approximately 10 months and counting -- with an average wear of 3 to 4 times per week. i've yet to adulterated them, so they've never been washed or soaked. i haven't worn them hard, just often and as of yet they don't have a noticeable odor, but i am thinking about soaking or washing sometime within the next few months...

  3. looking at getting one of these fine crafted american made belts... particularly their standard belt.

my waist is 33-34 and i've read their belts are cut 2" longer from where the leather folds around the buckle to the center hole. so the 34" belt's center hole would be 36 inches long. my current belt is a bit too long, lost some weight and continuing to do so, and the tightest hole is approximately 36.5" and it could really be a half inch tighter/shorter.

so i am grappling with whether to order a 36" or the 34" size belt because i assume after break-in the leather stiffness will subside and that the 36" could fit me closer to my current belt.

  4. well, i've been wearing the barracudas for a few weeks now, really like them. the thighs have stretch a bit and definitely have gotten comfortable, however, they are still what I would consider snug. the waist is where the stretching is most noticeable as the label size 34" was measuring closer to a 35 1/2". I suspect it's now 36+ so it looks like time for a new belt. the funny thing, the extra waist girth is primarily in the back -- not so much the front unless I tug on them.

  5. just to clarify prps isn't mislabeling their jeans.

I had similar problems with Bluefly and their inability to accurately post inventory on their website. I actually ordered the Ramblers and kept getting the Barracudas. I finally gave up (after 3 times) and got my money back.

this pretty much mirrors my experience except i ordered barracudas, but they send ramblers. it's definitely a bluefly inventory problem.

  6. where the fuck can i buy the ramblers nowadays? need raw in 28 or 30

bluefly is selling raw ramblers, but they are mislabeled on their site as raw barracuda.

i have a size 33W here (p37p19e), which i ordered to compare the fit against my 34W raw barracuda (p37p19e03). this is the second pair of raw ramblers they've sent me instead of barracudas...

    so they are going back

i should have been content with the 34s as it has been murder waiting nearly two weeks until day to actual start wearing them.

  7. please, anyone knowledgeable, some help...

after waiting months, i just received a pair of prps raw barracuda is size 34 and the waist is just a tad bit loose in the back. and yes, the waist measures about 3/4 of an inch larger than marked. the front and back rise and upper thigh is pretty skin tight, which is somewhat new for me, though not uncomfortable, but based on what i've read it should significantly stretch out.

ok, my questions... if i size down, one more, to a 33 waist, as it is currently available, are the front and back rise and upper thigh measures the same as the 34 or proportionally smaller? additionally, would i be better staying with a 34 or downsizing one more as I'd like the denim fitted but not super tight? and right now i could use a bit of stretching in the front and back rise and upper thighs...

  8. i am ready to pull the trigger on a pair of Sorahiko 08 O/W, especially given that they offer a really good return policy if it doesn't fit just right. originally i thought about getting the contest Fullcount 1105 or even the SDA SD-103, but for whatever reason I am leaning towards the 45rpm denim. this will be my first pair of japanese denim and if anyone has any input or suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.
