  1. I went to the porlex tall grinder from the hario skerton, which i think is identical to the kyocera, and I much prefer it. Much easier to quickly adjust keep track of your grind setting and it grinds pretty consistently for me. Also has a larger capacity than the porlex mini, while not being too big. It also conveniently in the aeropress for travel, for anyone interested. And with the metal disc filter from able brewing, you have a very small self contained kit.

One complaint about the porlex is that since there is nothing attaching the handle onto the shaft of the grinder (just a hexagonal hole that fits over the same shaped-shaft of the grinder), it can sometimes come off in your hand as you're grinding.

Another difference is that instead of screwing together, the grinder top half and the resevoir bottom half nest together, for a slightly looser fit.

  2. Oh man just streamed s1 over the weekend. Overall overhyped, but will watch more.

  4. anyone have a link to that garra video of japanese guy demo-ing pour over? website is down, and all I can find is the ironing and shoe polishing vids on youtube etc.

Trying to explain to friends how amazing it was to stumble across his shop in Tokyo, and it's a much better story w/ the video.

Btw, the shop is in Shibuya, Chatei Hatou.

  5. the Raleigh warren straight's are also called "washed clay selvage canvas" and have a cone white oak tag on the pocket bag. I couldn't see any differences from my Freeman's, which I'm now thinking I've posted in the wrong thread. (9)

Their website is only marginally helpful, and the link for online merchant doesn't seem to be finished/accurate? They do have a full storefront w/ plenty of goods not shown on the web. Def recommend swinging by if you're in the neighborhood. They do MTM Suits, have a barber shop, and a restaurant that is supposed to be quite good (the restaurant was how I heard about them initially). Anyway, enjoy!

  7. I'm assuming it's cheaper to buy canon/nikon dslrs/lenses here. Is this right, and if so, where's the b&h equivalent located? I remember there being some neighborhoods(akihabaraetc) but I don't want to waste time going into every shop and price checking if there's one store everyone knows about. I got tsukemen to eat!

    thanks

  8. Thanks yall (repreprep)

  9. Will be in Hiroshima for a week. Anyone spend a lot of time there? Outside of the Peace Park and the Floating Shrine I'm kind of at a loss. I'm pretty sure there is a flat head store, but can't find it.

Cool local products/stores, parks, temples, bars, cafes, clubs... Whatever I might miss wandering around or in a guidebook. rep for insight. thanks
