I am planning some Iron Heart 301S.

I have looked on Self Edges' site and even after contacting Kiya I am still a little confused ( I hope he dosen't mind me contacting the forum about this)

I have some IH 461 in tag size 34" and after wearing for a while they fit great.

On the Self Edge site it says size one up on 301S ( so size 36" for me ) as they run small but after contacting Kiya he says buy 34" as the 36 would be too big.

I also have some Flat Head 3001 in 34" and they fit great too.

How are people finding the fit on 301S and how are you sizing them.

I want them slim but not skinny.

After watching this thread for ages without even registering on the forum I was impressed with the knowledge you guys have about Alden boots.

As I live in the UK I have worn boots made here for years but, believe it or not always longed for some Aldens but never really new enough about them until I started reading the posts on this thread. They are really difficult to get over here.

I must admit that I did post the message without giving much thought to the depth of feeling people have for these boots and I must apologise if I've pissed anyone off, I just wanted to be involved with a bunch of like minded people.

I think I will just keep watching the thread a see what happens and trust people with the knowledge to come up with what will be a great boot.

I'm new to the forum and just wanted to get involved in the debate.

Just because someone wasn't involved in the last forum boot surely they shouldn't be excluded from this one.

After all, we all have opinions and this is what makes this forum, and inparticular this thread so interesting.

I will keep watching how this develops and be guided by the more knowledgable about Alden boots.

I am seriously interested in a pair of the forum boots.

I live in the UK and have never worn Alden before so would have to be guided about size and fit.

My vote would be for a sleek looking boot so Plaza looks good.

It would have to be a double leather sole, plain toe, speed hooks, I don't mind eyelet style.

A really special colour would be nice to make the boots even more special. It seems Cigar is out of the question but the UK stockist for Horween have Whiskey in stock. How does everyone feel about that.

I have spoken to them and they are checking to see how much they have, the grades and the cost.

I don't know how many boots have to be ordered from Alden or even if Leather Sole would deal with the UK stockist to buy the shells and supply them to Alden, this is all new to me.

I dare say everyone will tell me what they think.

I don't mind #8 but a special colour would be really nice.

I would say a US 9 would be right but I see from the Alden of Carmel website that some of the lasts come up 1/2 a size bigger.

I think you're right about Giles being the sole importer outside of Asia, but I do know Self Edge in the US sell Iron Heart.

I've just bought a pair of IH 461 NON selvedge. The best jeans I have ever owned, the quality is exeptional !

I wanted the selvege bootcut, 461S, but I visited Giles(the guy who imports Iron Heart into the UK) at his house, he made me a cup of tea and he let me try loads of jeans on until I got the right fit, which was the 461.

The selvege bootcut was TOO tight.

Giles is a really nice guy and very helpful.
