  1. As a motorcyclist and denim-head I like the idea. The back pockets shape/size look fine to me but I personally prefer simple or no arcs. Re. the placement of the pockets; I find some jeans seem to make you sit on your wallet a bit more when riding than others, maybe just me?

I'd agree that heavier denim would be nice for warmth/durability but I suppose that it'd be pretty pricey to source, so maybe something for the future!

Good call on the high rise though, a must for riding.

  2. Speaking of warm and strong... we're doing a jean with Iron Heart in January that's lined with a super heavy brushed flannel and stitched with a heavier than normal thread and has a true medium rise to it... also, cost permitting it'll be waterproof.

That sounds spot on Kiya! Warm and waterproof would be perfect for England right now.

  3. I absolutely love my Shirasus I found that they fit really awkwardly at first but then once they softened up they wear much better. Your experience with them similar? The new standard line up they introduced this summer' date=' the Shirasus don't have the crotch rivet and all of their standard denim is back to 14oz.[/quote']

I agree, I found them to be a bit odd fitting until the waist loosened up a bit, now they're one of my favourites. Do your's have a tag in the waistband saying 'made in the Mitsui Factory, Okayama', or something like that?

  4. Nice. Even the back buckle got a good fade on it. Shirasu's? or Ciscos? They usually only use those ball rivets on the Shirasus' date=' anyways nice post thanks![/quote']

Cheers Jon, they're Shirasu's. Like the look of the new catalogue by the way, thanks for posting it.

  5. Can't wait for pics, Dr H.

I've search the thread and can't find reference to repairs. Is there anyone in the UK who can fit new elastic? I have a couple of 60s generic jackets that need some work, and three or four more that need new linings.

(Plus about three more I've given away and have to try scrounging back, due to jacket-envy induced by this thread)

    +1 for Aero.

I've got a couple of their jackets and have had new knits put on an A2. Top quality. They are very busy at the moment (my new jacket took 3 months) so I'd drop them a line and ask what sort of a backlog they have.

Ps. They quoted me £50 for relining an A2.

  6. Yes! I've been waiting for some worn pics of the two moon denim. Is it too much to ask for somewhat better quality pics? :)

Not too much wear on these really and they've probably got too much oil on them to show much contrast anyway! But I'll try and get some better pics posted tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled.

  7. ship then to your office :)

just another pair of "dark jeans"... by the time she even notices it'll be too late to bother getting upset over

Hahaha. I'm already all over that! In fact I'm thinking of putting up a wardrobe in the office...What are we like? A crack addiction would probably be more convenient, not to mention cheaper:D

  8. S0210XJ - 7 months, worn 5x a week I'd say. 4 washes? They look a tad darker than pre wash because they're still a bit damp.

Looking good Casper, I love this model. I'm finding it hard to resist, but the wife will have my nuts if another pair of jeans 'appear';)

  9. I actually watched Green Street Hooligans. But I always wanted to watch This Is England. I'll keep that in mind.

I'll download it just to have it handy. Looks like I'm watching Hachi's Story.

I'll probably end up giving a little mini review afterwards.

Watch Dead Man's Shoes. It's by the same director as This is England, I think it was his first film. It's fantastic. Some great acting, especially the lead.

    Chopper is a classic too....

  10. I was in Leeds today, and popped into Kiosk 78 to see what the score was there...

Had a chinwag with Gav whilst I was there, and it looks like they're going to be offering a chainstitch hemming service soon, and dropping VAT for non-EU orders. I was well impressed, all that dreamy denim in one place :D

Didn't buy anything though, as my credit is crunched at the moment... :(

PS Can we get this thread renamed 'UK denim stores'?

Chainstitching in the UK at fucking last. What are we? The Denim third-world or something?!

Just hope they hem jeans that weren't bought from them;)

  11. I've only ever proxied Sams. But from memory the no.1 denim in the Evisu shop were around 30,000 yen, custom painted arcs were a little extra. I'm not an authority on them, but you may want to have a look on the Evisu thread, lots of devotees on there who will no doubt be able to help.

  12. pretty much anything said by Lord Henry in Dorian Gray. He was amusing. I want to be like him.

^^^Me too, I'm a bit of a Dandy at heart.

It's a great book, and I just love Oscar Wilde's last words - "Either that wallpaper goes, or I do."

  13. how much to send japan evisu with one red one white gull?? size 31 waist 34 long

I don't think Hiro has set anything up just yet!

But I'd get them from the source (there's probably a link on the Evisu thread). And if you don't speak Japanese, use a proxy like Sharpservice and he'll be able to arrange the arcs and hemming. Plus Hide-san is a top guy.

  14. I was considering dainite when my trickers need a resole. The commando is a bit of a pain with all the junk you pick up through the day. I somehow ended up with a central heating radiator bleed key in the sole of one boot!

As for snow, just get some sno-seal and take care of your boots. Those stows would be fine I say.

I'll second that. My gravel path is now mostly on the sole of my Trickers. Dainite for my next resole too.
