I was wondering the same things as mr.banyaii. I really want to start to teach myself how to craft leather goods, but I'm not sure how to get started. Anybody have any suggestions on good books or guides that are out there?

I really would like to try my hand at making some custom leather goods. Any of the resident leather experts on sufu have any suggestions on how to get started? Any good books?

Dont these run smaller than normal though? it says on the website to size up one or 2 sizes?
thanks for your help
Oh and by the way they dont have a size 34 in stock
so am i better off with a waist 35 (size 36) or a waist 33 (size 33)?
Yeah they do run smaller. Normally the waist is bigger than tagged to accommodate for shrinkage. These are exactly the tagged size to begin with, so they shrink to -1 to -1.5 of the tagged waist. But they stretch back to near tagged size after a while. It seems like people who want the slimmest fit possible go true to size with these. If you don't care about a little bit more room, then I'm sure a 36 will look great. It will still be a slim fit, just maybe not AS slim as a 34 would be.

Cheers Man! I just measured now my waist is 33.5" and my thigh is 23" at the thickest part. So am i right in thinking size 36 in the BSP? P.S Like the fit on yours!
Hmm...I think you're going to end up sizing down if you get a 36. Remember, they will stretch back out. I think down the line you will be much happier if you go with a 34. They might be a bit tight at first but they will stretch out quickly. Plus it looks like you have plenty of room to spare in the thighs. I'm around a 32 waist...maybe a 31.5 and at first I decided to go with a 33 to play it safe. They were good at first, but they stretched quickly and ended up being way too roomy in the top block. I ended up sizing down to a 32 after that. After the initial soak they were skin tight...but they have stretched back out and are perfect now.
And thanks btw.

Can anyone suggest a size in the BSP if i normally wear a 34" diesel jeans and im 5ft10 so any ideas what they should be hemmed too? id like a bit of stacking but not too much.
Cheers
That's too vague. My advice would be to measure your waist and thighs first. Then, if you want as slim a fit as possible (and your thighs can handle it), go with your true waist size. If you want a bit more room, size up one from that. In terms of your hem...I'm 5'10" as well and I got mine hemmed to a 36.5. After a hot soak they came out to around 34.3 or something like that. That gave me a couple of stacks but nothing major. You can check my fit pics a couple of pages back. You can measure the inseam on a pair of pants you own now and try and gauge it from there.
Just know your measurements, figure out what kind of fit you want, take into account shrinking and stretching, and go from there. Hope that helped. Good luck.

Received my 1001's from SE today. I went TTS (32) as recommended on here... not sure how I feel about the fit:
As you can see the top block is very roomy. The waist is comfortable but there is tons of room in the thighs, contrary to what the SE size chart suggests. They're a little tight at the knees, but I'm not too concerned about that.
I want these to be fairly fitted through the thigh but I'm concerned whether a hot soak (+ hot dry?) will be enough to get the fit I'm going for. Right now I'd need to shrink 0.5" off the thighs... I'd definitely feel safer starting with 31s and doing a cold/warm soak.
This is my first pair of Flat Heads so I'm not sure how much shrinkage I'll get, although ~1" in the waist seems to be the norm (a little less for the thighs)...
Any advice on whether I should stay TTS or size down?
If you're not sure how you feel...you don't like it.

Hey Atzec, get going on those Eternals. I wanna see some progress on my old pants (even though I only wore them twice) haha.

Forgot to mention...I've only bought one thing and sold one thing on sufu...but references are aqhong (who I bought these off of) and Atzec (sold him some eternals). I've also sold some stuff on ebay through a friends (and fellow sufu members) account with 100% feedback. I forget his user name so I'll ask him soon and just make sure he's OK with me posting the ebay name. Thanks.

Some fit pics of my size 32 BSP's. For reference I'm 5'10" and about 155 lbs. These are after around 3 weeks of very very light wear. I love them so far. They are stretching and settling nicely. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a slim fit. The ass still needs to settle a bit more though. Can't wait to see some real progress in the next few months.

Yeah I saw those. I was just wondering if anybody had any ones that are aged. I think I'm gonna have to go for that one with the reign instead of the bi-fold. Too sweet to pass up.

Just got my wallet from Hollows today. I was pretty damn impressed. The attention to detail is excellent. Definitely recommended for anybody who wants custom work done. I would post some pictures, but it is almost identical to the mid-length a few posts up. Pictures don't really do his work justice anyways.
