Does anyone have any experience with the elastic band around the neck on the Nemis curling up and loosing elasticity? A friend of mine has the jacket(from a couple of seasons back I think) and it happened to his pretty fast. Is this a known problem?

Yeah, it happened to mine and at least one other person on here iirc. I posted up a picture awhile back sometime last year if you search for it.

Anyways contact arc customer service, your friend will have to send it in to them. They ended up replacing mine with a brand new one.

  2. recently hit up some new cafe's and lunch spots

in shimokitazawa. Light up coffee was great, pretty new, I think it opened just a few weeks ago, manager is like japan aeropress 2016 champion or something. anyways, worth going out of the way for. Hit up Glaubelle coffee and Hi monsieur in the area as well. Light up is one of my new favorites though. Try their coffee and tonic on a hot day, super refreshing.

back in omotesando, where omotesando koffee used to be, the owner opened up the new koffee mameya. specializes more in beans and roasts now. really nice little spot and flows a lot better. the pour over i had of one of their light roasts, cant remember which one, was insanely delicious.

also tried out "deli fu cious" in nakameguro and their fish burger. amazing stuff.

I guess this is the last chance to get this iteration of nomin before the new one comes out.

Yeah I love the side handle and vertical oriented organization pouches inside the bag. Works great when navigating through airports and on flights.

That being said, has anybody had any problems or faster-than-normal wear on the shoulder straps of their nomin, namely the top part of the shoulder strap where it attaches to the bag itself?

  4. Is the new haedn fabric similar to the limited release monitor at the veilance pop up shop in ny?

Still wanting an indisce but debating if I should wait for new haedn now..

Also, quite a few more stuff from the new season released today at Haven

  5. That's great zekay. Hoek and Graphpaper looks promising, thanks for the recs

Last time I was in Daikanyama I remember finding a homegoods store when wandering around near the APC store, can't remember the name, maybe it's the same one you're thinking of...

EDIT: Was it this place? Tenoha http://tenoha.jp/

  6. Heading back to japan to visit the in-laws late april/ early may. Just moved into a new condo in the states and looking for new housewares. any recs on places to check out for ceramics, general home goods, books, design etc? I know of the big places like tsite and isetan, any others?

  7. Since we are on the topic of the Nomin, anybody here own or have owned both the nomin and outlier's quadzip backpack and care to chime in on the preferences of either bag? Main question is how comparable in size are the the main compartment areas?

I currently own the quadzip (and the rolltop version before that) and am looking to possibly sell it and pick up a nomin hopefully on an upcoming sale. the cuben fiber is so damn noisy to me on the qz. I own a seque tote and think i prefer the ac2 material arc uses. Also the lack of any real organization is a bummer. i've tried outliers ultrahigh flatpacks but the medium and larger sizes are a pain to access when the pack is loaded.

  8. last year's (i think) nomin and seque used ac^2 fabric that had more of a ripstop/grid finish on it. this year's went back to the coated finish, you can't see any grid pattern in it. imo the coated one looks better. that said, the newer one should be the more expensive one -- not sure why the expected prices don't match the naming on ssense. might wanna call and ask them to clarify

From the looks of it the $660 priced nomin pack is the FW16 one since it doesn't have the ripstop finish. I think the $725 one is from the upcoming SS17 season. From the ssense pictures I can't make out any real difference between the bags though... so just a guess.

  9. I had the same 'bacon collar' issue on my Nemis and sent it in to be replaced but they didn't have any in the same color and size so like @metatrendr they offered me a discount of equal value on another item, but I just had them send it back instead. They said in case they have one to replace it I can call them up and ask and get it fixed, whenever that may be.

If anyone has any experience with the 'new' elastic material and can describe any differences that would be great.

If the rep never told me that they "updated" the elastic, I would have never known. The elastic to me looks exactly the same to my eyes. I haven't worn my SS16 version but maybe 2 times, so I can't comment on how well the elastic collar will hold up this time. If it bacons out on me again I'll probably just replace it with another jacket next time...

  10. Definitely contact customer support. Arc service team replaced my SS15 Nemis with the SS16 version for free after sending it in to them.

I couldn't find the original email from veilance about it, but IIRC, the rep said they updated the elastic on the collar of the nemis so that the rippling effect shouldn't happen again on the new one. Suppose this applies to any other jackets that use the elastic cuff/collar after the '15 season.

  11. The last few visits to I've made I've been using Tmobile's international plan which comes with your basic simple choice plan.

I usually go for a month at a time and stay in Tokyo, I believe I'm limited to 2G speeds but data and text is "unlimited". It's good enough for browsing web, using google maps/navigation to get around, calling/messaging people via Line app. Forget loading Youtube videos though or anything that requires a lot of data to stream. Instagram loads pretty slow too. But for basic stuff it works just fine.

  12. Was just skimming through the veilance site and noticed this comment in the description of the Partition AR coat:

" but now now in an unassuming cotton-faced GORE-TEX® fabric"

Can anyone confirm that has seen the fw16 version in person that it is a different face fabric from previous seasons?

  13. Please can I ask the opinion of Quoin Jacket owners?

I'm a solid large in the Blazer LT, Indisce, Doeln, Mionn IS Vest and Quoin Vest; as well as dedicated outerwear like the Partition AR and Field LT.

However, the Mionn IS Jacket is none too mobile in the shoulders for me in large, so I decided it's not one for me.

I really want a Quoin Jacket, but looking at the specs on various retailer sites, it looks like it comes up small across the shoulders, in the same way the Mionn IS Jacket does for me.

So, after rambling on, how do Quoin Jacket owners find the fit?

I'm a small in all my veilance jackets (Nemis, Indisce, Partition, Galvanic) except for the Isogon I sized up to a medium.

So I ordered both a size small and medium Quoin jacket due to the measurements on different sites.

The small was just a tad too short in the sleeves also slight pulling in the chest area when buttoned up. When trying on the medium these issues were resolved but the overall fit on me looked too large and caused it too look sloppy and baggy which ruined the minimal clean design of the jacket in my eyes.

I really wanted to like this jacket, and I imagine if there was a "smedium" size it would fit me well. But unfortunately it just wasn't for me and had to return both sizes.

  14. the same thing happened with my nemis jacket...

I ended up sending it to the arcteryx service team and was told that the stretching was "pre-mature wear" and unrepairable. since they didn't have any more in stock at the time, they offered to replace the jacket by letting me pick out another item of similar value

Thanks for the advice, I sent my jacket in to Arc'teryx at the beginning of the month. AV rep just called me today to say that it's not something that should happen and that they've only seen it happen on a couple Nemis jackets that they know of. So they are going to send me a new one from the new SS16 collection, which according to him this issue has been resolved with the new version and shouldn't happen again.

Great customer service and really easy to deal with. Very happy that they are sending me a brand new jacket.

  15. Anyone here have the Nemis Jacket from SS15? I'm experiencing some stretching out of the elastic collar. Anyone know of a fix for this, or is this something I just have to live with? Anybody else with the jacket experience this too?

  16. Are they doing apparats again for this upcoming Spring Summer?

Yeah, at the nomad trunk show they had apparat pants in black.

wtf are the red shorts for ss16

Sounds like the Voronoi Shorts in Chamotte color from what I saw from the trunk show as well.
