  1. ...without washing,

what would be the best advice to air the funk out?

from advice, i tried throwing it in the freezer for an few hours, but it didn't seem to get it out?

    thanks in advance..

Mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle so you get a 12% vinegar solution. Spray it on the funky parts and let it dry. Old-school trick that removes odour.

  2. For those of us situated in south of Sweden, http://www.swedalaoutlet.se/ in Svedala have their fair share of RedWings for 166-177 EUR. Not that cheap by US standards, but just having the chance of actually trying them on before buying (or ordering elsewhere) is worth the trip.

    Sizes from 6 - 13, models (afaik):

Chelsea Rangers (6193, 6194 and some other distressed ones in brown)

Round Toes (brown, red, moc, black)

    Chukkas (same here)

    More "modern" biker boots

The Round Toes in red were the only ones I could suspect being factory seconds, based on glue residue and colour differences.

I was dragging along twins not at all interested in watching dad try on shoes so it was a quick "hit and run". Thus the lack of model figures.

  3. anyone know how the 1967 505xx fits? I know it's preshrunk, size down?

    Not sure if it helps or not but my '08 505's W33 L34 measured W33.07 L35.4 raw, W35.4 L34.6 after a year's wear.

I washed them for the first time a couple of weeks ago after a trip to India. Post-wash W33.46 L34.64 and now the waist stretched back again. I guess 505's really "grow" on you... I need to go on a diet...

  4. ^ any insight on what this "toughened up" business is all about, then?

Basically, it's a more modern version of the old 101. Lower waist, slimmer legs and some exaggerated details as a huge hair-on-hide patch. I'd say it's a bit like the 'Golden label' series of Lee, but without the shitty denim quality.

  5. Found these at the Rack for $49.99 tag says there from the fall 2006 collection Size 29 but too small for me

Sounds like what I found: LVC 505 27" 34" raw for appr. 14$ each at a sale at the local store, bought four pairs. The lady selling them looked at me as if I was crazy when I said they were for my twins.

...being 2.5 years at the time, I can see that it seemed off the charts... but hey, you just wait a few years, they'll be supporting the most insane turn-ups ever.

...or being bullied for wearing them like that... Worst case scenario, they'll end up providing spare parts for crotch blow-outs or on the bay.

  6. Just got my Red Wing 9011's from Cultizm and jeeze they're tight! Bought them in the same size as my 8138's, and lengthwise there's no issue at all. Leather do stretch, I know, but this is like wearing a pair of skates....

Anyone experienced the same thing, endured and came out of it without being an amputee? Do they stretch enough or is it better to return them for half a size bigger, hoping for more space sideways? Don't want to go from skates to skis though...:o

  7. agree..

well here is the size comparison

    i wear

    8D Redwing boot

    8C Redwing shoe

    8 in vans slip on

    9 in nike

    9 in new balance

hope this help, by the way, where are you? Not a redwing store around you can try on? I think my brother wear 42 and he wears size 9...not sure tho..

    Friendly indeed!

Situated in the south of Sweden and I still havn't been able to find a store here (Malmoe / Copenhagen) that sells them...

I figured that since everyone are at most a bodylength from their own feet (hopefully), it would be easier finding a person wearing size 8.5 and ask that person his or hers measurements, than scouting down a store with the shoes in stock.

A clerk told me a general rule in sizing one's shoes, that is, make sure there's 1cm of air lengthwise, allowing your feet to expand enough when walking on a hot day etc. I noticed that the Japanese RW site has a size chart and according to that, I would be a 9½ (allowing for " friendly toe airspace") which seems a bit odd?

My Converse are indeed EU42 but US8.5....

Congratulations moykky, you are now officially in / one step from getting out of SuperHell?

  8. I'm liking the RW 1911s. I like their look better than Whites, and a bit better than Indies too because of the Indies' moc toe. They're not the most comfortable boots in the world, but I'm gonna work with them because I like the vintage look so much. The waxed cotton laces are about the best ones I've ever seen. Here are lots of pics. The ones with LVC 55's were taken in the mirror:

    Excuse a newbie for asking...

I've read just about every thread about RW's and sizewise the recommendations seem to be "size down", but have not seen any actual measurements posted.

Would be interested to turn things around a bit: Anyone wearing a Red Wing 1911 in size 8.5(D or E)? How long/broad are your feet?

Being a size 42EU (26,5cm's long feet) I wouldn't want to go around with my toes curled up just because I decided to size down too much, nor the other way around...

If I've missed this posted somewhere else, feel free to hunt me down...
